    Quick tip, Matt . For the belt, instead of taking it off what I do is simply rotate the buckle to the side or the back of my body. That way all that's at the front is the leather of the belt, which covers the button on my pants.

    Forced rotation is a true DA (dual action) as it will oscillate and rotate by driven gears, as oppose to non forced rotation which is only rotating as a REaction to the oscillations.

    You’ve certainly got the full set when it comes to Rupes. from Matchbox cars to tools! Yeah Jim White always has a spray bottle of water to damp down the blow out tub. With the forced rotation machines, they’d be really useful on the curved panels where the LHR15 may stall.

    As far as the hearing protection goes I think that’s up to you Matt, Think if your detailing a car every day for a living I would recommend wearing hearing protection or noise canceling headphones if you look at Jim White I believe he has noise canceling 🎧. On the bottling line all sorts of PPE is required for us, when you have thousands of glass bottles clanking in each filler room at the rate at 500 bottles a minute. I think on average we’re at about 100 DB In the warehouse, for me when I use my DA I wear headphones and listen to low 🎵 .

    I was going to pull the trigger on the Mille today, but after watching this, I'm going to pass. All the talk it takes less energy, less pull than the 3401, well, I just don't see it. I have the 3401 and hate it. The Mille looks like a real pain in the ass to control, and you're not a beginner. On a side note, the pneumatic 15mm looks like a beast! Looks way more powerful/efficient than the electric Rupes MINI.

    what I found with force rotation is that you don't really need to apply pressure to the machine, its weight will be enough you almost have to lift up on it. I love my mille but it is definetly a learning curve from a normal DA

  • @tankeriv
    @tankeriv 4 роки тому

    Forced rotation is something I only use when I have a quick job. Something that doesn't require me to get the best possible shine but rather to get the best possible results in the shortest possible time. Actually almost all of the time I use it single step only. Just a one pass paint correction. Lets say I want finish a full size station wagon within 6 hours and have it washed prepared and polished and waxed. And that's possible with a forced rotation. Sometimes that's just what you need. I have a Flex VRG3401 though. The kind of customers I am currently talking about are the kind of customers that want you to polish their cars. Are very happy but after a month they already took it to the automated car-wash. Hence no need for a three step paint correction.
    What I like about a forced rotation is the tremendous amount of torque that they tend to have. They simply bit through the corroded paintwork. But it is very tiresome work. But if I have to choose between three hours of tiresome polishing or eight to ten hours of relaxed polishing. And the result is that they are going to have the same level of happiness then I'll opt for the three hours of tiresome polishing.
    BTW how funny to hear the extremely familiar sound of the Rupes Bigfoot Mkii 21 ^^ Love that beast!

    Forced rotation beats you up for sure. I had a FLEX 3401 and sold it because of the heat it generated. My current forced rotation is the Makita PO5000c. I want to visit OGHQ since you're 15 minutes away.

    • @DaddyoftheMack
      @DaddyoftheMack 6 років тому +1

      Genysmen runner I do really like the Makita. Any forced rotation tool is a very physical tool but the Makita has a 5.5mm and the FLEX has an 8mm throw. That extra throw on the FLEX makes it a more physical tool to use. Among many other tools, I do have a Griot BOSS G15. It is very smooth. If you are only maintaining your well kept car, go with a G15 or Bigfoot MKII 15mm. If you have customer work to do and some cars are thrashed...go with forced rotation.

    Looks good (from a distance...LOL)! :+) I wonder if the forced rotation would be more effective on a harder paint, seeing as you say it felt like it was working you really hard? I also wonder if going a little longer with the application, such as allowing the product to flash (clear in appearance) before wiping it away would make it work a little easier? Just my humble thoughts.

    Interesting discussion about the Rupes 15 Mark2. I made a big mistake and bought a Rotary from Chemical guys back in January. I should have gotten the Rupes orbital and so I have never taken the rotary out of the box. Trying to get Chemical Guys to take it back so I can get the rupes. Any advice on getting rid of this torx? Chemical Guys hasn't responded to my emails, imagine that.

    Hi @Obsessed Garage,
    I have the Rupes Bigfoot 21 mark 2 which you quoted as nr 4 on your tools list , why would the 15mm version be number one of your list? Is it because of finesse? Correction speed?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  6 років тому

      The 15mm orbit is plenty of movement for correcting most anything. Notice how the 15 has the word "detailing" inscribed on the carbon shroud. It is the machine designed for paint correction specifically.

    • @Vbanwarie
      @Vbanwarie 6 років тому

      @Obsessed Garage thank you for the reply, Do you think the 15 mm corrects faster than the 21?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  6 років тому +1

      Faster, certainly not. But I like the feel and size of a 5" pad. The 15 is balanced for that backing plate.

    • @s1ow1dirty58
      @s1ow1dirty58 5 років тому

      Vbanwarie since the 15 has less throw than the 21 it tends to get more spots and be more detailed then the 21 with a bigger throw that might take a extra pass etc because it might miss some spots I currently only have a Millie since I’m just starting out but everyone loves the LHR 15mm and the mk iii just came out so might pull the trigger on one
