  • Making a rental feel like home | Cozy Minimalist Vibe | @Adrienne Hill's Seoul Apartment Makeover Day 1 - This is a 911 TSD call for a recently moved to Seoul, Adrienne, who doesn't feel at home in her new apartment. She's in need of a quick makeover to transform her space and make it feel like home. We're going to use the Suitcase Designer principles of cleaning, declutter, organizing and designing her space to get it to a place she loves and feels comfortable in. Due to the nature of being an expat, her space will have more of a minimalist vibe, but we can still make it cozy. We want her rental apartment to feel like home, have a minimal design and be completely renter friendly. Enjoy this new 2 episode series. -April

The best thing that you can do is put things back where they were when you are done with it, less to clean up and more time for other things. April, you did a great job with the apartment. It feels really good when things are clean, so calming.

I would want to gaze out the living room windows so I’d put the sofa on the opposite wall, and I’d put the big mirror in the bedroom where I get dressed, not in the living room. Putting it in the bedroom might also help her feel like putting her clothes away and not leaving them in a heap in the corner (mirrors make hiding things hard).

great progress! looks like it is going to be a lovely apartment! With the rug i would recommend running some PVA glue along the edge of the carpet that you cut, so that it doesn't fray. For the hooks that are stuck, maybe try using a hair dryer on them, and gently heat the adhesive.... possibly worth a try!

I completely forgot you did Adrienne’s flat before. I watched her move in video the other day, (that jogged my memory when I saw she kept the organisation system and brought it with her!) saw she was neighbours with Annie (which I found strange only because hers and Annie’s are so different and I’m used to seeing all flats with the same layout and stuff. Maybe not the same building but completely understand that you probably shouldn’t say that online.) it looks like your flat. I loooooved her sofa, when she bought it it looks so comfy modern and gorgeous. But when she placed it I was like noooo the view!
But it fits in that space so well and works well there if she wants a tv.
She has such a lovely flat, I’m going to have to go an subscribe to her right now! Anyways only like 5 mins in gotta get back to the video.

Soooo good!!! Tho I must say: if she makes a pile of clothes on the floor because a pilechair is gone, she clearly needs SOMETHING to keep her pile in as this habit will likely not just go away. I have a miiiild pile system for often-used still-clean casual clothes too and I've evolved from a pilechair to a dedicated drawer on a dresser. she needs something, even if just a chest!

    • @natevans8024
      @natevans8024 3 роки тому

another suggestion for wherever her pile ends up: i started rolling up each piece of clothing (marie kondo style but sloppy!) and putting stuff side by side and it's been a godsend! I don't have to fold anything, which is so boring and i hate it, but i also don't end up burrying stuff and having to dig around to find what i want!

They probably put that backsplash up to prevent oil/liquids splattering onto the wall a leaving a nasty film (that is a pain to lean). If you're worried about it, I feel like you should just put up some tin foil. Sure it's ugly, but if it gets grimy or you have company over/hosting an event, you can just take it down and put it up later. But if you have semigloss or glossy kitchen paint, things like oil and liquids wash off pretty easily (so long as you let it stay there for a long time).

    Pet hair and duvets:
I change my duvet 1x a week (along with my sheets), and I have a layer of duvets -- my main one (queen size as our bed); and twin size. This one is on the end of the bed, that's where my greyhound likes to sleep. I can easily just lift it and shake it off before sweeping the floor, or giving it a good dust. Then it's cover is cleaned when I clean the other linens.

She seems to be a Clutterbug Butterfly: She needs visual and big category storage.
It is quite obvious from how she doesn't use her hidden storage (wardrobe, kitchen cabinets) much and instead makes visual piles.
It isn't necessarily being messy, it can just a well be when you are a person who needs to be able to see your things.
If she took the doors of all the closets and cabinets, she will likely have a much easier time keeping order and tidiness.

But first you said you’re going to throw away and get rid of some flowers and the light switches on and off. Like something is leaving with the flowers.
Then you see a dove in the backsplash. Which most definitely looks like the dove 🕊 emoji AND makes me think of Noah’s Ark - how he sent the dove to find land and it came back with a branch. Somethings happening here!
Fun fact - my name means white dove! (And ends in Noah)
