There will never be a more feel good, entertaining, children’s movie that is so related to the older audience and the real world. Truly a timeless piece of cinema history and it just so happens to be an animation about penguins in a surfing contest, sometimes life’s simplest pleasures are the most enjoyable
This movie is so underrated. Its still standing as one of Sony's best, and I'd argue it held that title until Spiderverse came around. A truly unique experience, deserves so much more.
SpiderVerse is the best SpiderMan movie, seriously a work of perfection, me and my brother saw it in theatres 8 times. These two both are just in an entirely different of their own for all animated movies. Except some Anime. But that’s different.
This movie hits different as an adult. I loved this movie as a kid and now that I’ve rewatched it, it really just hits different. And this ending is just beautiful.
Blame Sony for ruining one of their only well put together movies by making a cash grab sequel. It honestly baffles me how they thought they could just make a sequel 10 years after release with trashy animation and think people will be okay with it.
@@paperchasindude6578 I remembered having a blast with the movie as a little kid. I even wanted to learn how to surf after seeing the movie. Kinda fell off of that after I learned to swim underwater XD
Just watched this movie yesterday in HD on Netflix. As somebody who's going through a hard time rn for the past few months, that ending sure does hit hard in the most beautiful ways possible and it doesn't help that such an inspirational and nice song like "You Get What You Give" is playing through the entirety of it too. Rewatching this movie now compared to when I watched it as a Kid really comes across much more as an art form now rather then being another animated kid's movie - When I basically first watched this film years ago, I found the film to be awkward and weird but now, I'm glad that it's completely like that with the pacing and humour as it makes the film feel realistic in a way. As a grown ass Teen now, I can now see that this movie fully comes across to me now as a message/response to the fact that even if nobody tells you that you have talent or just simply the fact that you're generally in the most lowest/hardest situation, you should NEVER give up and keep on going, riding the wave of life. God BLESS you, Ash Brannon, Chris Buck, and EVERYONE else behind this film - You truly made something special and eye-watering and it's about a documentary about Penguins surfing, hehe. ...Thank you.
For a mockumentary animated film about surfing penguins, the whole narrative and theme of the story paired with the visuals and just the simple joy of experiencing something few people rarely ever get to... Jesus christ, it's just so fucking beautiful. I can't really think of any other way to describe it. There's no grand revolution or bittersweetness to this, but even as a jaded adult something about the way this movie ends, the cinematography and the brilliant choice in music almost brings a tear to my eye EVERY time I watch this.
This scene just makes me want to escape to a beach paradise with all my loved one just living in island life. No cares or worries, no sickness, no covid. Just enjoying time with each other and the world around us.
Such an amazing film. I'd go as far to say that it's a masterpiece. It unfortunately lost to Ratatouille for best animated feature. Nevertheless, it's one of my favourites.
Few humans, will experience this feeling. The drive of force, with the skill to harness all that is in this magnificence. Riding a monster, and embracing in the purist sense of chaos that we as people can identify.
I’m leaving on a trip with my family and one of my bro’s to Hawaii in 2 weeks. I was in Mexico with my family 3 months ago and the waves and culture there just aren’t the same. Especially staying at a resort, I just want to camp on the beach and surf. I’m Freaking Thrilled! And Can Not Wait, I watched this Masterpiece like 7 times in Mexico and I’m just watching scenes dreaming of surfing, skim boarding, and boogie boarding.
Time flies guys we were kids watching this Remeber. Scary now we’re adults and we hold on. I hope the journey treating you guys well. We got the music in us. We’ll our vibes
At first I really didn't like this movie...cuz my little bro's watched it too much. But once I sat down and watched it, it was sooo amazing! I highly recommend watching it again; the music is what really drew me into the movie!!!
I love this song, it makes me want to go the beach with my family and friends hang out, soak in the sun, have good time with each other, and play some tunes and listen to this song
Greatest song of Sony's movie production experience! In result, Surf's Up is one of my favorite cartoons of my childhood. In 2022 year it seems like fresh, deep and cheerful despite on straight feel of nostalgic and Surf's atmosphere in sunny Ping Gu as Hawaii)))
everything in this scene just fits so perfect together. literally one of the best endings in a movie

This movie is so underrated. It’s such a good movie.
@Jabb Throne it's got Shia
@Jabb Throne Shia Labeouf is the voice of Kody. That's a big downside.
@Jabb Throne i know
@Jabb Throne Before this, he was in "Holes" (2003), and "I Robot" (2004).

Back when Sony had a better animation engine than Pixar. 2007 and water physics?!?!? Such a memory.
More then a decade later and still is one of the best movies of all time

The animation in this movie was honestly ahead of its time.
Yes it is. The best
That final shot of Maverick and Zee surfing their wave together is just so beautiful. It's such a satisfying way to end it

That little penguin Arnold was hilarious haha always drowning himself so his crush can come to his rescue! Player in the making!
