- "The Song of Iowa" is the official state song of the U.S. state of Iowa, written by S. H. M. Byers in 1897 and adopted by Iowa State Legislature in 1911. The song is set to the tune O Tannenbaum and Byres' lyrics' theme is centered on his love and praise for Iowa.

I went to the amazing Iowa State Capital yesterday 12/10/21 and inside a display case across from the information desk were things having to do with Iowa. Such as the state tree, state flower, etc. But inside that case had this exact song. So it is the 100% real state song of Iowa. If you don't believe me. You should go to the Iowa State Capital yourself and see it yourself. I took a picture and I'd like to post on here but I am unfortunately unable to do that.
Fun fact, Michigan, My Michigan and Maryland, My Maryland have the same tune and pitches, but Oregon, My Oregon isn’t the same song.

@@Revan1700 This practice was quite common before copyright became thing, European countries used to share NATIONAL anthems, if I recall correctly, the German and Russian Empires used to have the same anthems but with different lyrics.
Regardless, I think these state anthems of Maryland and Iowa have enough distinctions in the way they are sung and the key they are in to be quite distinct from the original songs they were based off of.

@@rhester02 That's still two different states with exceedingly unoriginal melodies. And no, Maryland's *wasn't* the best. Get the tenses right, Maryland abandoned that anthem officially. They currently don't have one.
