So is a 400 grains arrow in both cases, the TRX 36 at #70 with 30" draw length and 70V mods (313 fps) and the TRX 40 at #70 with 29" draw length and the same 70V mods (279 fps). Seems a huge loss in speed for just being 1" in less in dl, 1/2" more in fistmelle and 4" inches more axle to axle. Even counting that the TRX 40 has a biscuit as a rest, 34 fps less is a lot. Are you sure the 40 has #70 and not #60 limbs? Otherwise that would be amongst the less efficient longer axle target bows I saw...
Well I would say the bows start off 10fps different, plus the biscuit can cause almost 10fps as well. And with 29-30” draw length difference it is probably 6-8fps so take into account a little difference in poundage by 1-3lbs and 30fps different is not out of reason.
@@MikesArchery ~5 less due the 1/2" longer fistmelle, ~2-3 less due the rest (no way you lose 10 due that) and 9 less as is rated in IBO. That should be ~17 fps less; now, we known that in a given poundage, bows with similar specs the shorter axle to axle are more proficient (but stiffer to draw, also), but in this comparison seems that the TRX 40 doubles the speed loss (34 fps vs 17 fps) which should be expected. That's a shame, because along the CT9 and Black 9 is my favourite looking target model, and because you're shooting the #70 version (and WA/FITA doesn't allow poundages over #60), so if at any time I buy one the most I can expect with a 400 grains arrow is 270 fps or less, and given you won't shoot below 300 gns with a #60, is not like there's too much room for improvement shaving weigth in the arrow. Anyway, great review, thanks for your effort.
In case it is helpful my TRX 40 with the 31” 80% mod with a 442gr arrow is clocking 299fps (blade rest). That was before a peep was installed. I made up my target arrows at 459gr and added a peep and can report back if intersted once i chrono it. These are shooting past a lab radar fyi and actual draw measures at 31-5/8”
@@mattk0kb921 Thanx for the info; two questions if you don't mind: 1) what poundage are you using, 2) what made you get the 80% mod over the 70V, were you able to shoot both and describe the draw cycle? Thanx in advance.

+Buran01 thanks for the input. We don’t stock Mathews or I would go grab bows and recheck what we did just to make sure.
