Naomi weeps for Versace
Fashion's supermodels gathered in Rome on Thursday (11/9) to pay tribute to the late designer Gianni Versace who was gunned down outside his home in Miami in July. The models, who included Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigova, walked down the Spanish Steps in Rome wearing about 300 outfits created by 30 of Italy's most famous labels. The show proved to be an emotional event with Campbell and other models visibly upset that their long-time friend Gianni and employer was no longer with them.

Remember that summer night of 1997, Gianni Versace murder was an international wave of shock, so frightening. A month before, Naomi was hospitalised in Gran Canaria, press tv and tabloids spoke about overdose or suicide, then Gianni murder, Princess Diana a friend of Versace attended the funeral and she died a month later. I was living in Southern Florida at that time; it was so awful, you could “feel” it & it was so scary & eerie, until the murderer was discovered.
Tho we lived an hour North, we still double checked our door locks, night & day. I think everyone had that spooky feeling. I’ll never forget it. Condolences to his Fam & friends

These were not the typical Versace girls with the exception of Naomi, Yasmin and Eva who had walked in several Versace shows. The ideal cast would have included Christy, Linda, Helena Christensen and Yasmeen Ghauri.

1997 they did this show right after his death. And all the models Gianni had cast and who had ever walked in his shows all showed up in fhe finale on the Spanish Steps in Rome to pay tribute. Best part Naomi & Esther's sincere emotion..yug aty heart strimg every time.
