I have seen Jumbo in person at this exact location and he loved going in and has excellent care. He gets a fresh water bath when he gets out of the ocean and the care taker is most caring and compassionate.
This baby elephant clearly doesn't really want to go in the water. He's being made to perform for tourists. Elephants that do things like this on command have been badly treated and their spirits are often broken, much like abused people. That's how they are controlled. The comment below about nails in the "controllers" hand is probably true. There is nothing "nice" or cute about this video.
Thank you for sharing this beauty. It's so lovely to see an elephant enjoying itself in nature. I do however hope that Thailand changes its practices in obtaining baby elephants in the wild. They are such wonderful creatures and Thailand is such a beautiful and honourable country, I'd hate to see its reputation destroyed by the way it treats its most magnificent creatures.
Loved this video! But would much rather have been able to hear the actual sounds of the people and the elephant. That weird music was not pleasant at all... had to mute it. But I could definitely feel the happiness of the baby elephant in the water! Thank you!
I notice the mahout always has his right hand closed, and this is the hand he uses to make the baby do things. I'm willing to bet that if you prised open that hand there would be a nail in it. They press them into the ellies skin to make them do what they don't want to do. Please don't encourage this by paying to take pictures etc.
I suggest you look closer next time. The only good places to interact with elephants in Thailand is either Boon Lotts E;ephant Sanctuary (BLES), Elephant Nature Park or BEES (Burm and Emily’s Elephant Sanctuary). They let elephants live free and be elephants. Any that you see on the streets or the ones that ride have been through torture and still go through it. Don't believe what the mahouts tell you, they tell you what they think you want to hear. Open your eyes and see the scars on these poor creatures.
I notice he has a problem with his right rear leg, is this a sign of being abused or an injury that has not been looked after. It will cause the elephant big problems as it gets to full grown if not sorted now. Poor thing you can see it does not like the waves, even though they love to swim.
This elephant looked a little distressed , but in the water it was having fun drinking the sea water. Maybe have a nice hose to hose it down before it eats?
Ya know....there ARE other alternatives to bathing an elephant ya know. I KNOW THEY STINK, but you don't need to take a FREAKIN' ELEPHANT TO THE DAMN BEACH just eliminate a couple hundred horseflies I mean damn...what the HELL ARE YA'LL DOING WITH AN ELEPHANT ON AN OPEN BEACH!! Didn't even look like he really knew what to do with his snout underwater (SALTY OCEAN WATERS) very well on a magnitude like that anyway BECAUSE HE DOESN'T BELONG BE IN THERE TO BEGIN WITH, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?!!! Good GOD the things some people do just when you think you've seen it all...
After seeing this, maybe the designers of Elephant enclosures at zoos or parts should think of building some beaches and a waterfall, in the UK and Europe and the America’s I mean?
Dogs are domesticated animals. Elephants are not. This elephant may be trained to obey its "mahout," but the species is wild, whether born in captivity or not.
He like it. At first time you saw him it just the acting that they train him like he don't wanna take a bath just like a baby dont wanna take a bath. I been there before if you in that moment you will hear how happy he is.
You're looking at an elephant that has been abused each day of their lives. They are not meant to go into the sea.......ponds and mud baths are their thing. Hope it can get rescued from that person asap
Bascorasco How can you call an elephant dumb? That thing is probably smarter than you which is sad. Elephants have a great memory, greater than most people and an exceptionally large brain compared to their body size.
tienes razon TheMeerkatking23, yo recuerdo que mi abuela cuando conversaba con una persona que recordaba muy bien los tiempos vividos entre amig@s cuando eran jovenes su expression siempre era: wow " TIENES MEMORIA DE ELEFANTE" "Honor a los "ELEFANTES" """"""""Elephants have a great memory""" aqui el unico "TONTO" es el "Estupido de "Bascorasco" o mejor dicho: "Bascorasco Estrella de Mar o "Cucaracha" animales que no tienen "cerebro" tienen ganglios cerebroides es decir pequeños acúmulos de células nerviosas que coordinan algunas funciones. not all human interaction with animals in abuse. The mahout is with their elephant 24/7. they sleep in the stalls with them. Also if you notice the elephant turns his head and moves his ear so the mahout can grasp it a couple times. It is a physical touch that allows the person to guide the baby. You cant call abuse unless you actually see some. It is not wild and the mahout acts as its mom. Is it abuse to place puppies in homes? It is a new family that will be theirs for life.
Apparently Asian elephants are more closely related to mammoths than to African elephants and may have even evolved from mammoths (Google "Elephant Evolution - Elephant Information Repository - Elehost" for more info). Most species of mammoths were covered in fur (the woolly mammoth for example). The sparse fur on Asian elephants is a remnant of their mammoth ancestry.
This elephant has been tortured into submission, it's called crush, look it up and you will see for yourself why it is so easy to control this animal now. We tourists are contributing to the lifelong torture of this amazing animal. Don't take my word for it, look it up and see for yourself if you can stomach the cruelty.
Whether this elephant is really enjoying this is highly debatable....I don't think there is any enjoyment for the elephant here at all - how cruel. Elephants are not made to swim in the Sea with crashing waves!!!! And yes, there does indeed to be a problem with his rear leg.
I have seen Jumbo in person at this exact location and he loved going in and has excellent care. He gets a fresh water bath when he gets out of the ocean and the care taker is most caring and compassionate.
Jumbo is having great fun and its wonderful to watch....thanks for sharing this great little video!!
I love this video... what pure joy this baby is experiencing!

Babies: Arbitrarily putting things in their mouths even across species. Oh, the cuteness.

Awww. I love him. What a wonderful animal.
Absolutely. It is the cruelest treatment I have ever seen. There are documentaries about it that will tear your heart out.
OMG Stumbled across the cute section of UA-cam tonight! Fun!!! I've bookmarked this.
Loved this video! But would much rather have been able to hear the actual sounds of the people and the elephant. That weird music was not pleasant at all... had to mute it. But I could definitely feel the happiness of the baby elephant in the water! Thank you!
Elephants are uncannily intellegent animals. Look how he figures out how to ride the wave instead of just letting it hit him.
he's like this is the best bath LIKE EVER!
Yeayyyy... sooooo cute...Love it. Thanks for sharing ...Omar and I love the music. Well done. :)))
what a beautiful elephant!
Thanks for the upload and I loved the mix of this video and the music! Have subbed you.
this music is awesome! Rocco Parisi, bass clarinet!
awh! he loves it. very sweet.
Nice elephant, nice swim.

skip to 9.08 and look carefully at his hand :(
he seems sooo happy
Looks suspiciously to me like an elephant who was happier on the beach being dragged into the sea by it's ear to entertain tourists.
Great choice of music
the person holding the ear is the mahout "trainer" no harm done at all :)
This is absolutely a show for tourists, to get money. They sell bags of snacks to the tourists so the tourists can get a thrill feeding the elephant.
I notice he has a problem with his right rear leg, is this a sign of being abused or an injury that has not been looked after. It will cause the elephant big problems as it gets to full grown if not sorted now. Poor thing you can see it does not like the waves, even though they love to swim.
because they just love to style it and look good.
This elephant looked a little distressed , but in the water it was having fun drinking the sea water. Maybe have a nice hose to hose it down before it eats?
Awesome! -but it would have even been better without the (annoying) music covering up the sounds of the ocean's waves and more. :)
cute elephant!

im supposed to be studying for math how did i end up here
Glad you guys are enjoying the video!
hes lovin' that shit
After seeing this, maybe the designers of Elephant enclosures at zoos or parts should think of building some beaches and a waterfall, in the UK and Europe and the America’s I mean?
I don't think the elephant would drown considering he has a 6-foot snorkel built into his face

Where in Thailand was this taken? Or was it somewhere else? Love it!
What happens to this elephant once it has over grown its "oww its so cute" phase?
Oh wait...Thailand has an assembly line of "orphaned" elephants
14:13 - "Now I want the banana of cameraman".
Es precioso

noooo.. I dont want to go to swim, I just want to eat sand. *omnomnom*
agreed :) glad you enjoyed!
I take it elephants can swim quite well. They have a lot of fat on them and will float.
This is so sad. He did not want to get in there. I am so sad now.
who cares it is just a dumb animal. It probably forgot the experience in a few minutes

Bascorasco
you actually have no idea about how elephants can recall things even after 20 years
FABULOUS TO WATCH !!
Excellent video, spoilt by the dreadful 'noise' in the background :-(

Ok at times I got scared for the elephant

Great video, what's the name of the song?

@Rednogo ( The top comment ) .....Thailand honourable ? Wow..... you must be a tourist. Beautiful yes if you can ignore all the litter that is.
какая жестокость ведь видно что бедняжка очень болен у него опухла задняя нога а вместо помощи глазеют на его мучения
dont guide them into the ocean cause they may swim away and never come back into land just like sea mammals :)
Вода наверное холодная!
Giant wave pool
Yes its cute and all that but i didn't like the way that man keeps pulling him by the ear, they have sensitive ears ..someone should tell him that...
is this one of the baby elephants, beaten the shit out, to make them so scared they do anything the stupid human wants??
some people (miyagysgirl) should not ask such a stupid questions. The man who is holding the ear is the trainer!!!
lovely but...why this music ?¿
is this a show for tourist to get money?
Umm...No! He's already 4 years old.
Whether this elephant is really enjoying this is highly debatable....I don't think there is any enjoyment for the elephant here at all - how cruel. Elephants are not made to swim in the Sea with crashing waves!!!! And yes, there does indeed to be a problem with his rear leg.
where is the mother elephant>?
Sad to see that juvenile elephant being exploited!
that's a baby?
i like to hear original sound ! not this nervous instrument !
goddamit jumbo stop eating branches and sand
why such creepy music dude ?
Why are asian elephants so much hairier?
Respond to Louise Fallon I want to read your explanation
