I noticed Tim has a competing model to the DRDT dimpler. I guess it must be a bit beefier as it can be used for riveting as well. Have you seen it? Could you give an opinion on them?
I haven't taken a close look at it. Tim seems happy with it. I have no complaints about the DRDT. I get really nice dimples and it's low/no maintenance. I suppose you could squeeze rivets with it, but it would be pretty inconvenient compared to using the handheld squeezer.
Yessir. Scuffing after dimpling is very difficult and you'll wear through an entire box of scotch bright pads in one go. I'm doing simple rattle can self-etching primer just for a little bit of extra protection where surfaces mate. If it's had enough time to cure, if often handles dimpling just fine.
Looking good. Those far trailing edge rivets suck especially the second side once you have some stiffeners in the way.
I’ve been dreading those since I built the empennage nearly two years ago
You call the camera angle crooked ,,, I call it an artsy angle .
I’ll take it

dimple after priming?

@ but how about debur , scuff, dimple, and then prime?
That also works, and that's what I did today on the end ribs.
