This PMV may not be, Book Accurate, as I didn't reread this scene in Squirrelflight's Hope to make it but I remember reading her death scene and being quite moved. Basically this is about Jayfeather healing after Leafpool's death. Leafpool has always been the one who is there for him, and when she dies he pushes away his family. But in reality, he is hurting his family as much as he is himself by pushing them away. So he sees Leafpool in starclan, remembers who she was for him, and steps forward and heals with the people who knows, filling that role for Alderheart.
Again, I'm p sure this wasn't how it went in the books but I got this PMV idea in my head and could not stop thinking about it! Making this was definitely A Bad Idea bc I have a lot of homework right now but I got the actual frames for the video done in like, 5 days? Minus concept art and editing time. I am not super happy with it, I wish I could have spent more time on the editing to make it look better but ehh. I do really like how I drew starclan, I kinda wanted it to feel super ethereal and like it stretches on forever.
I could be wrong, but can't Jayfeather see Starclan, so when his mother dies, he sees her face in Starclan, and he'd never seen it before. Somehow, if that's true, it makes me sadder almost. It solidifies that she is completely gone... This is so lovely.
(Idk if you meant can’t at the beginning) but yes! He can see in Starclan so yea that’s the first time he saw his mother :)
I'm pretty sure he's seen Leafpool either in his dreams (powers) or in starclan before. He's definitely seen her using his powers, he used them to see Leafpool running away with Crowfeather when he looked into her memories when she told him that it wasn't a lie that she was his mother I'm pretty sure.
Edit: just looked it up but yes he had a vision of Squirrelflight and Leafpool trekking through the snow, he's seen them both.

From what I know the three(dove, lion and jay) "lost" their powers after the battle, StarClan only granted jay to be allowed to see in sleep, so Leafpool kinda returned to him like a normal StarClan cat. After all, Dove cant hear so far and lion isn't indistructebale anymore. So this seems right 🤷
Personally I think Leafpool’s death would’ve impacted Jayfeather a little bit more than it did Lionblaze bcs Lion has a family, he has grandkits now, but Jayfeather is mostly alone. He has friends in the clan but after loosing Briarlight as well I think the lose of Leafpool would’ve gutted him. I love my sad little Meowy man

this is so good......jayfeather and leafpools relationship has always been one of my favorites to explore especially coupled with the concept of motherhood in general and this is a really incredible example of that
This PMV made me really see how palpable the connection between them is! Motherhood through mentorship before he knew it was just her loving him as a mother. Losing a mentor and a mother, someone you could always rely on to comfort and guide you in all shapes and forms, must be such a double whammy for him

This was sooo sad! Jayfeather had a harder life than most people realize. He felt like he wasn’t good enough because of his blindness, and he was very insecure. Later he lost his sister, Hollyleaf, who he loved very much, and then his mother, Leafpool. 😢 He deserved better.
AAA- THE EMOTIONS!! You really potrayed Jayfeather's grief and frustrated sadness here so well, I also love how you added Alderheart to grieve together with him!! And I adore the backgrounds and leaf symbolism here, another heartwarming and inspiring pmv/short from you that never fails to amaze me!! :D

I don't often comment on videos anymore nowadays, but I just gotta say something.
This PMV was released just over a month after I lost my mother. However, this video introduced me to a new song that has helped me so much with coping since then. I truly relate to it so much and this song has been a major part in helping me to grieve, as has this video itself.
Jayfeather has always been a very dear character to me. His bond with Leafpool in particular, and how it's portrayed here alongside his grief at losing her, resonates really hard with me. I've continuously been finding myself coming back to this video over the past several months not only for the incredible art and direction within it, but for the very personal level of comfort it brings me through the character and song used.
I guess I just want to say thanks.
You've inadvertently created something that's helped a kid through grieving the loss of his mother, and I'm incredibly grateful for this PMV's existence even though it was never really made for the purpose it serves for me.

I'm so sorry for your loss, wish you well! Leafpool was one of my favorite characters, I still can't believe she's gone. Jayfeather doesn't normally show his emotions, but you can tell it took a toll on him. Love this PMV!

talk about sad!! the lost stars bonus scene totally crushed me, jayfeather and leafpool have one of the most interesting relationships in warriors imo. but also this is awesome?? your art is amazing, all the backgrounds and characters were drawn so well.
This turned out so beautiful, very lovely. I loved the color pallete, expressions and the way you showed the grief and pain here after Leafpools passing.

i've watched this probably seven times and i JUST now noticed that Leafpool and Jayfeather have the same facial markings (i'm typing this through my tears)
i love this song so much and you complimented its vibe perfectly with your art! you're incredible at portraying emotions and the symbolism is so good as well... the part where jayf crouches down next to leafpool's body and the leaves fall to cover him... this entire pmv is so exquisitely painful
Even though you say your not very happy with the product, it still looks AMAZING and I love the backgrounds and the way that you express the feelings that Jayfeather feels throughout the PMV makes me feel like I can feel what he feels to. This is very moving and I'm almost crying-

First of all, these designs are amazing and adorable. The backgrounds are gorgeous too, and I love that you made StarClan into a forest, it’s how I always imagined it and it’s so nice to see it in a similar manner.
Second of all, man my feelings were attacked. The death of a loved one makes you unsure how to feel, as there’s too many emotions to experience at once. There was a lot I could relate to, which always makes me feel better as it tells me that I’m not alone with this.
God I ADORE the colours in this. I'm in LOVE with these simple backgrounds. Like genuinely I want to learn how to make them. And the character designs are great and just AGH I love this so much

GUHHHH THIS IS SO PRETTY!! I love how pretty the color are in his dream/starclan sequence and then he wakes up and everything is desaturated and Real... it's such a pretty effect, and this is! So sad!! I love things that depict grief and this does it so beautifully 😢

I don’t actually understand why people could be so grieving about Leafpool’s death bc I always wanted her dead since the third arch. I’m happy the authors killed her finally. If someone objects - that’s their opinion, I just voiced out my opinion. Anyways, I was shocked to see such an underrated style and all the painting and the storyline - SMOOTH!

In squirrelflight's hope it was more centred around squirrelflight and leafpool when she died, jayfeather was just a bit of an ass, but we obvs dont see his pov there or his reaction when she initially died
