Car-Fu is INSANE.
Best action film of the year hands down. In case you didn't know, that was Scott Ackins dressed as Kila in a body suit, who John Wick was supposed to kill to get into the family...a great martial artist; Also here's a great movie series for you to consider to react to.
So Donnie Yen is also famous for doing the Ip Man series...Ip Man is based a true story and the series was phenomenal to watch and I think you will love it and I hope you can you react to the movie series 1-4.
@@SuperJ22 ive never seen them bit Id love to watch them on this channel with you all!!!! Always down to watch and learn about other great stories amd this is one ive only heard great about!!!
Do anybody know how the hell we gets the fifth film from this ending?!
I think the first half of this movie is a bit all over the place but once it hits Paris it just *takes off*.
@@StanvilleBrown Short answer: money, long answer: I think you can pull the "we didn't see the body" I know certainly my partner turned to me during the ending and posed that same question. I think you *can* make it work (i believe you shouldn't, personally, but I think you can make it work narratively if they have to).
6:39 The radio DJ narrating the Paris scene comes from The Warriors (1979). A gang are falsely accused of murder and they have to run the gauntlet the same way to cross the city on foot through all the rival gangs' neighbourhoods, in order to get home to safety. The guy who played Charlie, the boss of the cleanup crew, was in it.
In the post credit scene when Akira releases the blade it makes a very audible sound. Caine has incredibly sharp ears. If we heard it, he heard it.
Im sure he survives it she is gonna stab for sure. She got close to him when the huge bell rung there is a 50/50 chance. But its a open ending so people can interpret the story moving forward based on audience reception of that scene they move the story forward with story
true but I think the message of this scene is stronger if he dies. If he survives or even kills her then I'm not sure what the movie would be trying to tell me, so good decision to leave it open (for now)
If you ever watched the old Hong Kong shaw Brothers movies you know the trope in the old one armed swordsman movies they anticipated and were aware of silent attacks... so I'm sure he already is aware of the coming attack
Also they layed the ground work earlier in the movie when Caine tells her “Live” when she was about to try and attack him w the sword and then says “I’ll be waiting for you” that line alone would tell me that they were making a point to let the audience know that he will be ready for Akira when she comes for her pound of flesh
@@Chippa33doesn't mean he will be ready every moment of every day. He said that just to let her know that he knew at some point she'd be coming for revenge.
He also chose not to end her right there and then, even knowing that.
This is honestly my favorite film of the series. I hope that scene on the staircase goes down as one of the best action movie scenes of all time.
It was TORTURE. My god it was so painful and thrilling, but then BAM! **tumbles for 25 seconds straight***
Just a normal shotgun, but instead of normal 00 buckshot shells, they're called Dragon's Breath shells. Fires a mix of shrapnel and incendiary materials. They're illegal in a handful of states, but perfectly legal in most of the US. Not even terribly expensive, either.
I keep expecting Dragon's Breath rounds to show up in Stranger Things since they were definitely around in the eighties. Here's to hoping Nancy runs across them in Season 5.
TIL this terrifying fact.
I love that the shotgun they use is a Taran Tactical Dracarys.
LOVE the shoutout to the movie “The Warriors” through the DJ giving out John’s location and playing dedications to him as he fights his way to the duel location.
When I first saw this, there was this vibe throughout the theater that John didn't really die. The energy wasn't somber or anything, like it was an open secret that free of obligations to the table or not, the only way he'd be completely free is in "death." I guess it was a big screen thing, because seeing his death in reactions on a computer monitor, it's much easier to buy. Both Keanu and Director Chad Stahelski have said that It's up to the audience to decide John's true fate.
My personal opinion is elegantly stated by my writer pal- "I've seen John Wick get hit by several cars, shot, beaten with fists and a baseball bat, thrown off buildings (& bouncing around like a goddamn Looney Tune). there's no way 3 shots to 0 vital organs took this man out. this mfer soap-opera dead"
agreed, it could easily be gone to be forgotten and in peace kind of thing until he is needed.
My opinion is that there are two outcomes here. Either he's still alive, but dead to the assassin world or he succumbed to internal bleeding from all of the collisions and falls his body took.
I will note that the response to where he is, is "who knows" as in he might not even be really dead. And that the scene with his grave, that is not a freshly dug plot, just a tombstone.
I was really hoping Clancy Brown would have said,
"There can be only one."
during the duel
It would probably go like this :
"There can be only one."
"Fire!"
Donnie Yen is fucking phenomenal. Fun fact : years ago, Yen beat the living crap out of 8 grown men for harassing him and his then-girlfriend. Eight men. At the same time. Dude knows how to fight.
I mean they had him fight 10 at the same time in the first IP Man, probably because he can actually do that lol
The long take in paris with the “ sparkler “ gun was great ! 🔥
It was by far my favorite thing in the whole movie! INSANE
Called dragons breath. Special ammo. And yes you can buy them depending on your state(if American)
Cultural reference - The assassin DJ is a call back to an older movie called The Warriors ... Worth a watch.
... oh, and Donnie Yen is older than Keanu ... not by much, but, yeah.
That was a nice homage they did
So the "sparkly" gun is a 12 gauge shotgun with "dragonsbreath" shells that set people on fire. Yes, they are real.
It's really annoying how, after almost a century of existence, the Academy Awards *_STILL_* does not have a category for Best Stunts in a Motion Picture!
In a just world, the stunt crews for all four John Wick movies would've swept them all.
The dog definitely noticed something during the funeral scene with Winston and the Bowery King similar to how the dog noticed John at the end of the last movie when he was in the alley. They also have John Wick 5 in early development so I don't see how he could be dead.
They had an ending with John off in the distance but they rather have it end how it ended in the film in case they don't bring him back
I don't see how how isn't...
John also had a marker Winston gave him at the end of the second film to be used "down the road"
@@markjones9416 That marker was probably the one he used in the third to get Halle Berry's character to help him.
@@Piflik that marker was in the library
An epic conclusion to the best action franchise there is! Hope you enjoyed the journey!
Apparently, they're working on a John Wick 5 so this may not be the epic conclusion. The one thing I've been hoping that they would do was to bring Christian Bale into this franchise, and if you've seen Equilibrium, then you know why. I can already hear Winston's voice saying the following line: "Congratulations, John. You've drawn the attention of the High Cleric of the Grand Table." Cheesy, I know, but I'd still love to see this happen.
John wick 5 is in pre-production. I think the story will be that Winston has hidden him somewhere and he'll emerge to take revenge for Donnie Yen
@@stephenmillergbl why would he? Besides, cane isn't dying there.
Caine uses a technique called "echolocation." It is training your hearing to listen for *how* a sound travels (e.g., does it travel farther on the right than the left, louder away than close, etc.). This technique is used by Hollywood as a superpower of sorts, but, in reality, it gives a person a *very* vague idea of their surroundings. The basic premise is similar to sonar but for humans. And no, being visually impaired is not a requirement.
I love how in each movie they had an unique weapon. In this one it was French traffic.
This movie is a masterpiece of it's genre
I love how the reference the 1979 movie The warriors directed by Walter Hill
I really enjoyed your reaction to part 2 of John wick 4 , fav part is he didn't shoot 🔫 So sorry about john😢
John wick - He grieved
John wick 2- He Raged
John wick 3- He bargained
John wick 4- He Accepted
John wick 5- He Resurrected
The stair scene with Genesis by Justice as the soundtrack… *chefs kiss*
What Joker enjoys with genuine delight, John Wick suffers with tenacity.
It's funny that you mention Keanu showing his age and how quick Donnie is... Donnie is the older of the two by a year.
7:55 it's not the gun, but the ammo it's loaded with. You can see earlier that they loaded it with "Dragon's Breath" shells, which are pretty much magnesium pellets. If you don't know, magnesium begins burning on contact with air.
Edit: It's also important to note that the burning effect seen in the movie is dramatized a bit. While dragon's breath will definitely hit hard and burn you, the ignition of their gear is sort of unrealistic. It would take a good bit more for them to be covered in flame, especially if some of that tactical gear was flame-retardant. You would quite literally need to be doused in gasoline to go up in a fireball like that one guy.
Only thing worse would be sodium shells which would explode when they go inside the body 😱
Is that the same thing as incendiary rounds? I only know some terms by specific terminology.
@@mikephillips1043 while dragon's breath is technically an incendiary ammo type, most incendiary ammo that isn't shotgun shells tends to be much different in use and function. Most of the time the bullet will explode upon impact or once inside the target. Dragon's breath ignites almost the moment it leaves the barrel, because as stated earlier, the magnesium pellets react with the surrounding oxygen and begin burning immediately. It's also important to note that the burning effect seen in the movie is dramatized a bit. While dragon's breath will definitely hit hard and burn you, the ignition of their gear is sort of unrealistic. It would take a good bit more for them to be covered in flame, especially if some of that tactical gear was flame-retardant.
@@theconman6505 yeah understand the movie magic stuff like how they treat silencers I just wasnt sure if the DB rounds were like this universes take on incendiary rounds or what. From comments I honestly just learned DB is a real thing. I love JW comment sections that the different info you learn about from tactics, to weaponry, to ammo etc... thanks for the convo friend!!!
If you're still curious about the gun John uses, it's a shotgun loaded with Dragon's Breath rounds. Dragon's Breath are magnesium incendiary shotgun shells.
I love Caine and Winstons sense of humor and how they deliver their lines
I would love a Caine or Akira centric mini-series or movie
yeah it has incredible potential for both.
As someone who's put a frankly shameful amount of hours into the Hotline Miami-games I was absolutely delighted over the long continuous top down view shootout. I love the creativity they bring into the action sequences so it stays fresh
You just blew my mind, I never noticed this! 🙌🏼
Stunt Men can be great directors and when the director was asked if John was really dead. He wouldn't answer, he just smiled.
Potential spoilers below…
My personal theory, which was neither confirmed/denied by the movie: Mr Nobody is the son of Halle Berry’s character. It explains the drawings of John, and the affinity for the dog (a Malinois, like hers). She mentions having hidden her daughter via John, but a son could have been brought up in the life with the requisite skills and training. I kept waiting for that reveal, and it never came.
When I explained my theory to my buddy when leaving the theatre, his jaw dropped and he said: “That makes sense, and would have been awesome.”
John wick movies are the perfect balance between 'Ridiculous' and 'Totally badass'. I honestly and absolutely cannot stop being gaga over how Keanu fights in each of these movies. I'd like to think the only reason John wick is capable to keep going with his body broken, is because his mind is as solid as ever, it's half the battle of any recovery afterall. Determination can do wonders for the human body, crazy honestly.
EDIT: Good job doggo for peeing on that bastard :3
Here's what the director said. If the movie has a so-so audience, John is dead, if the movie is successful, John will be back. The film was successful.
There is an old Gregory Peck movie called The Gunfighter. The gunfighter was getting old, and he was tired of people challenging him to gunfights. They challenged him for no other reason than to become famous for killing him. Near the end of a movie, his character was “killed.” At the end, it showed his grave, but he wasn’t in it. The grave existed solely to put an end to the challenges, and let the gunfighter live the rest of his life in peace.
Its insane to me that we got an original action franchise that was fresh and high quality on all fronts for all 4 movies. Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski blessed us
As a french, i really like to see this final chapter in Paris, and this action scene to the arc de triomphe is so cool !!! I really enjoy the 4 movies, and this one have so beatiful shot, good character (and well we are in France at the end so it is even better). I also love the scène in the church, and the "waybe i am wrong" hits hard, and even more when you now thats kennu reeaves lose is wife too.
Just a great movie, sad, badass, awesome... just légendaire !!👍
Actually the DJ lady is from the 1979 movie The warriors,, the movie is about New York gangs
How does John survive? Not only is his suit bulletproof, but, he's got plot armor. 😉
Innovative as the movie is, the thing that took me out of it was how no normal person would survive all the falls that Joh n Wick suffers throughout this film. Wildly unrealistic .... but somehow still kinda fun!
The fat guy "Killa" is in fact the legend of Martial Arts and stunt double Scott Adkins in a fat suit. thats why is so flexible
For the end credit scene, I hope that Kane does lose, but asks Akira to protect his daughter... From a father to a daughter. Maybe he lets her do it as a type of seal-the-deal thing for her to keep that promise.
I lost count of the number of times John gets hit by a by a car! 😀 "Frogger, but worse!"...LMAO! 😀
I still think his exchange with Caine during their duel can imply that he's still alive.
"Those who cling to death live."
- "Those who cling to life die."
If he is known to be dead, John can quietly move on with his life. If it were to end here, it would be a fantastic ending. I know the director has said he and Reeves would discuss a potential 5th movie after taking a good break following this tedious one, but that was also to be coy prior to this film's release. I know the studio chief just recently announced the 5th movie, but until the people involved actually have dicussed a story, that's just someone after the money and not worth holding steadfast yet.
You may note that the shot placements were the same as the ones on the Dr in the second movie. Non-fatal shots, so I suspect he is not dead.
Then they announced the 5th movie and Keanu Reeves admitted that John wick was not dead. lol
I have a traumatic brain injury and then another concussion last year. As satisfying as this was, watching John Wick physically hurts my head. 🤕
I ask myself all the same survivability questions John faces. They really hurt to watch.
Post credit scene, John stops her from doing it. Winston said he had no idea where he is, which was the truth lol.
John 'died' when he regained consciousness next to Daisy. After that, he was just balancing the scales.
That scene with the radio lady is a direct remake of a scene from The Warriors, even with a cover of the song from the original scene, I lost my shit when I saw that in theatres
you mentioned Keanu showing his age and Donnie being faster, yet Donnie is 59 and Keanu is 58 :D btw if you enjoyed Donnie's speed, watch Ip Man, it's his trademark movie series and there he's showing his full speed without restrictions
The flame gun is a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with “dragon breath shells”. Special napalm loaded 12 gauge shells.
While watching this movie you have to remember that it's based had a very different universe, everything is basically ran by the high table and everything they do is normal and legal under their law
so that's why the vehicles don't stop and neither do the parties during a gunfight
the part with the radio station reminds of the scenes from the movie the warriors whenthe warriors had to make to coney island and had to battle through the gangs to get back and the female dj would play music and announce what was happening over the airwaves such a good movie
It has been confirmed from LionsGate, themselves, that there will be a John Wick 5!
John Wick 4 is my favorite movie and my favorite character is Tracker. He has cool gear like his bulletproof backpack and trustworthy dog. I hope he comes back to the next film.
"Like a fucking camper". You should watch the honest trailers for this film
I love the reference to the film Warriors in this its such a great way to do it……
In all film media: If you aint see a body, they aint dead
My friend and I joked that after the amount of punishment he endures by the end of the movie, he should just be a skin bag full of powdered bones. It's so hilarious how he's able to keep standing. Still tons of fun! Can't wait to watch the spin-off shows!
One of the best action movie ever made in my opinion.
Another great Reaction 👏👍
Chapter 4 is Amazing.. Kudos to all the stunt man, actor, crew's, director & Keanu Reeves.. They put action film in another Level and they put/set a bench mark to other action film creator in future!!
*John Wick Chapter 1 still the best for me..
Having driven around and crossed the round-about around the Arc de Triumph, I honestly think no one would stop even with that carnage going on. It's a mess. It's a free for all live action video game experience. LOL
"I'm trying to make these movies make sense."
I think there is a reason that these movies are shown on SyFy network often.
John Wick be like don't let me get your guns or i will use it against you XD
Some people are bullet magnets, they just can´t help gettting hit.John is a car magnet.
The sparklers from the shotgun is dragon’s breath. It’s a bullet that shoots out magnesium shavings and the primer ignites it. Sparkly
The top down view scene is one of the best moments of film ive ever scene
Kind of wanted the tombstone to read: John Wick: Loving Husband and Dog Dad.
I don’t know what is my favorite scene. But definitely the fight scene in the beginning at the Osaka continental is one of my favorites. It’s just one of those fights you’d see at the end of the movie. It just gets you hooked.
We all laughed so hard after leaving the theater because it was the late night show and EVERYONE in the hall paused outside because a long flight of stairs was between us and the parking lot. Watching him fall down was like seeing master Shifu launching Po down the stairs in Kung Fu Panda
Those shotgun shells John was shooting were Dragon breath rounds. They fire shards of magnesium that burn up to I believe 6-8,000°.
The scene with weapons firing fire is a type of round called Dragonfire
The flaming rounds from the shotgun is called dragons breath and they are a special incendiary round filled with magnesium that ignites when fired
Perfect timing, they confirmed recently a 5th were just not sure if prequel or post for 5th but we know Ana De Armas Name came up few times🍿
She's in a spinoff called the ballerina
Cars to Mr. Wick is like doors is to Vox Machina
@funnylilgalreacts The shotgun shells Wick used that were "shooting fire" in the top down hotel scenes, those are called Dragon's Breath Shells. That is my favorite scene as well.
4:30 Yeah, that took him 9 months to learn. I thought that scene was CGI, I was wrong. That was actually him drifting around a group of cars lol.
8:12 Just a shotgun, but it has dragon breath rounds loaded in it. Basically an incendiary rounds, but never seen it used on people before this film. I have seen them used to contain forest fires though.
Don't worry, John is alive and well. There were lots of clues to point to it. I'll give you one. Caine and John rigged the duel so they can both get out for good. My guess is they planned it while walking to the Church together. They purposely kept grazing each other, even Winston got frustrated by telling John "just kill him". We all know John can shoot the wings off a fly in a sandstorm, so the duel should of been over in one shot.
"How does he survive" - He's John Wick.
The radio station thing is ripped from another movie you need to see... the Warriors. It is a street gang retelling of Homer's Odyssey.
THe radio station reminded me that you NEED to watch The Warriors.
I can’t wait. John Wick is Not dead; he’ll be back in chapter 5.
RIP Lance Reddick.🪦
🖤
The start of the show was the cricket 🦗 😂😂😂
With John not getting hurt, This is Myth, not Reality. These movies are Ulysses, Hercules, Tarzan, Etc. They are beyond human, they are the ultimate Evil against the ultimate Good.
Fun Fact: the music in the shotgun scene is the same music from John wick one where John chases iosef
@funnylilgalreacts The assassins' radio station was a call back to the film "The Warriors".
"why they [people] still driving.."
It is Paris traffic, just another tuesday
The Dragon's Breath scene was ripped straight from the John Wick video game.
8:10 It's (probably) a standard shotgun, but it's loaded with Dragon's Breath (incendiary) shells. Instead of the pellets being steel (as in normal shotgun shells), they're (mostly) made out of magnesium...
EDIT: I didn't realize I'm late to the party here lol. Sorry if I'm repeating what someone else said 😁
The way Winston says "who knows" at the end makes me believe John isn't dead. Just out of the lime light and can finally live a peaceful life. If not and he is dead buried beside his wife that is a fine ending aswell. But something tells me the casket was empty
they are working on john wick 5 so I guess he's not dead
The places he was shot were the same spots the doctor told John to shoot him because they weren’t fatal. Good call back to give us a clue.
Theory: Milk builds strong bones. John Wick consumed so much his bones are like granite.
Apparently they based the overhead shootout scene on the game Hong Kong Massacre but a lot of people thought it was an homage to Hotline Miami. It's kind of both. That Pit Viper pistol he's also using retails for 7K off their website. It's no joke. I also do like the fact that Caine when he does shoot guns is throwing away bullets half the time. Like if you look where he's actually shooting more often then not bullets are bouncing off the ground and walls. XD Before he was blinded I'm sure he was on par if not stronger than John. I feel like a lot of his hand to hand stuff is him throwing out combos that he had already learned so I'm sure a lot of that is muscle memory. That's also me just justifying the absurdity of it but. XD John Wick has always been about that suspension of disbelief.
After Wick is excommunicated and before he punches his ticket and burns off his family crest. He could've requested the dual with the marquis. He'd still have his finger, if they went that way. Notice Wick wasn't embalmed or put in the casket and buried.
That's actually not true the table signed over power to the Marquis after the wick situation fighting all those people im the hotel and getting shot and disappeared. So he didnt have that power yet and Wick would have had no reason or way to even find out how to do that.
@@mikephillips1043 Not true.
@@raymondamador1487 explain? The guy didnt have the power signed over to him by the table until after Wimston shot Wick off the roof. He couldnt challange someone to a duel who had no idea who they were or their power at the table...
Clancy is also the voice of Mr. Krabb.
It's not the weapon, it's the rounds. You see them on the table when they're getting all their weapons together, Dragons Breath. They're incendiary. As soon as I saw them I thought "well this is going to get even more visually exciting." Then the way they filmed it was amazing.
Also, just pointing out the fact that Donnie Yen is a few years older than Keanu Reeves.
8:13 it’s a Genysis 12 shotgun, loaded with Dragon’s Breathe rounds (incendiary shotgun shells, so basically a flamethrower shotgun).
so fun note, the dragons breath, ouchie sparkers is real
Augh! Your enjoyment is completely infectious! Thank you SO much for the watch. You totally made my evening!
How does he survive the repeated car hits, and building falls and stuff? Plot armor. (Maybe, he's like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable?)
I agree... the shots are absolutely stunning. Whoever the DP is did a great job! The whole thing looked amazing.
That overhead shot was like a video game.
Yeah... I'm satisfied with the resolution. (Something I couldn't say about the last two. I've enjoyed all of these, but if they'd stopped at the first John Wick, I'd have been okay, too. But, this worked for me.)
I love Donnie Yen; he's great. (After all... he's one with the Force, and... the Force is with him!) I enjoyed him immensely in Ip Man.
Ah, well... I'm looking forward to whatever Keanu is going to do next. And... Funny Lil' Gal... I'm looking forward to your next watch, whatever that is, too!
(I haven't mentioned it... but I love your Tetris lamp!)
Have a great evening!
In 2024 we're getting a spin-off movie with Ana de Armas called "Ballerina". It will happen between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
I tell ya, all of the John Wick movies are just like a beat them up video game lol but I absolutely love it though you go through so many levels beaten up so many bad guys killing so many bad guys you think it’s over, but it only just begun And I love every minute of it lol
Towards the end there I was really starting to suspect this was really a reboot of "The Crow"
Remember: All of this started because some punks killed his dog
The Peace in Death, John only had in Life with Helen.
