I don’t know if I will ever get to Japan or any restaurant in the US that sells oden. I wish I could taste it though, it does look delicious and tender. Could someone describe the taste and texture for me please?
Oden stew is very easy to make as they are sold premade/precooked in the US, complete with stew seasoning. If you can make instant noodle, you can make oden stew. (pro tip would be to add bit of soy sauce to the stew broth not just the seasoning that comes with the package) Go to any H mart or other Asian market and you can buy them. Japanese fish cakes are roughly 70% mashed fish (mostly cod), starch & floor, and seasoning. (predominantly sweet) texture wise, they are soft but frim; offers slight chewiness which makes them very pleasant. kinda like gummy bear but slightly softer than that.
