The beginning is disturbingly accurate to the actual song.

asgore battle = WHAT? I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE 100% or at least 90%
Why? it's basic nes chiptune at the start.

Toby used a NES VST and most likely Famitracker with the 8 bit in a lot of the songs.

I always feel bad for Asgore.
He doesn't want things to end with your death, but he'll do it for all the monsters who are yelling and crying to be free. His son was dead; Chara, who he took as his own child, was dead; and Toriel got disgusted with his actions and left him alone. Sure, he did mistakes, but it was all because of how quickly he lost his family, and nobody would ever forgive him if he didn't set monsters free by taking your soul.
But what really gets me is the fact that he doesn't even LOOK AT YOUR DAMN FACE while fighting. He does not want to see the atrocity he'll have to commit. That's really sad ;-;

But using all 8 channels produces an annoying noise floor, because the chip's sampling rate becomes so low that it's hearable by the human ear. This is because the chip does not have any kind of mixer, so it actually plays every channel one by one instead of all at the same time, it's just that it manages to go through all channels in less than one frame which gives the illusion that everything is happening at the same time. 4 channels is the most you can use without any kind of noise floor at all. Older versions of Famitracker did not emulate the noise floor, which is why an N163 song composed in an older version sounds like absolute shit in the newer versions.

The beginning was almost perfectly spot on. In the rest of the song you can kinda hear the limitations but the start sounded just like the real thing!

Just think of the beast of a cartridge that would be playing this if it were to be playing on real hardware, all the extra circuitry and chips, the PCB would look like a mess. It would be extremely cool to hear this coming out of actual hardware, regardless of ridiculousness of the setup in actuality.
My rough estimate is about the size of a Famicom Box... Like the one for Japanese hotel chains...

I mean it depends. There are parts that repeat so you would just program the repetition instead of the entire song to save memory I'm assuming
@@masscast but each one of the abbreviations in the title is an expansion sound chip. Vrc6/7 (konami's sound chips) FDS, the Famicom Disk System, so this cart would be a floppy disc, or have a floppy add on, etc.

imagine what type of cartridge you would need for this to run on real hardware.
first you would need all of those custom sound expansion chips crammed into a 60-pin famicon pcb (or 72 pin NES if you figure out how) and you would have to make it have no hardware conflicts.
or just have a cartridge with each sound expansion chip each (like one for the VRC6, another for VRC7, etc etc) and just have an NES playing at the same time for each.
both would be hellish to make but quite awesome.

An incredible remix of an incredible song that uses the NES'S Expansion chips. Now, if this was playing on an NES, I'd be excited. It's amazing how they change the technology with it over the years.

Oh man, I remember listening to this back when I lived in Pennsylvania. My father didn't have Wi-fi but the nearby church did, so I would go to the church and listen to this and other 8-bit Undertale remixes. ...Man, that phone was garbage.
I've always considered this song one of my top 5 in the Undertale soundtrack.

This wouldn't be possible on a real console. First off, the NES doesn't support audio expansion chips, you'd need a FamiCom for that. Second, the FamiCon could only use one expansion chip at a time.

Sadly, I have no knowledge of anything related to famitracker (trying to learn, isn't doing so well, aw man) but might I say I really like the fact that one the instruments in the background starting around 0:53 sounds EXACTLY like the sound of a soul breaking? It really makes sense when you think of the context of the battle, and I find it really cool!

Not only. You'll need to change the transformer too (Because each chip would need it's own power supply. You would also have to map the channels adresses properly. And there's probably much more to pay attention to. Because if it wasn't, there had to be someone to actually make such a kind of NES by now.
Make some gigantic Famicom cart so you can store all of 7 chips.

If you listen carefully to the original song, you can hear a bit cover (as I call it) playing with the orchestra. The orchestra plays a bit higher to harmonize with the bit track, but is more overpowering. That may be why the song sounds like it goes up a key or two.
EDIT: Never mind. It just starts on a different key. That is going to bug me for the rest of my life...
