I have been hoping to find a Brissie gardener (I'm on an island in Moreton Bay). I planted my garden seeds in situ just last week. I am so excited to be able to watch your gardens growth along with mine.
Hi Lynda, thanks for watching! It is nice to find other local gardeners so you can see what they are doing! Some other channels that I love are Love of Dirt and Sydney Backyard Veggies. 🙂
Thanks for the mention👍 your corn will do fine hope they germinated for you. I started my second round of corn seedlings this afternoon so I will be planting them out in 2 weeks. Great looking garden and thanks for the tour
Thanks Anthony! Yes my corn has sprouted this time after only 3 days! I think I was planting too deep so I’m really happy I watched your video! I just need my cauliflower to hurry up so I can harvest then I’ll plant the corn there. They should be ready in two weeks so that will work out well! I look forward to seeing your next garden update! 🙂
@@risslittleveggiepatch you caulies look similar to mine I reckon it’s going to take 4 weeks to harvest still hope the corn seedlings will hold on though till then
Thankyou! Haha, I always forget to get into my gardening clothes before I go in the garden. I’m always too excited to get out there! I manage tp stay pretty clean somehow. Some days not so much though! lol
Such a beautiful garden, the birds chirping in the background, such a beauty! Treated with love, and it shows ! In Czech Republic the summer ends in a week
Thank you so much for watching! Yes we have lots of birds in this area which is lovely and good for pest control! I hope this winter isn’t to cold where you are! We are moving in to summer here in Australia and it can get extremely hot! I’d much rather our winters! 🙂
Thank you so much! The corn is looking great. I will be planting it in the next week. Just waiting for the cauliflower to finish which I will be showing in this weeks video! Thanks for watching! 🙂🌽🌸
I just realized (because im slow tonight lol) September is your Spring, and it's our Fall in Canada so while I harvest you sew your seeds. Love the screen in pits I have similar for a couple of cabbage but I need to improve them , I need more self pollinatng plants especially cucumber . Good luck with your growing season
I love Canada!! Yes it’s so strange watching videos from that side of the world of what to plant which is different to what we are planting and growing here! Haha! The screens have been awesome for keeping pests and animals out. I will let you know how my self pollinating cucumber go! ☺️
@@risslittleveggiepatch please do, I started the year and all I was getting was male flowers for a while I was thinking I wouldn't get a cucumber lol. Do you guys get much snow ? Or any , I know it's not common in Australia
Well if I only would have watched your video another 2 minutes you stated you grew your onions from seeds. LOL WOW your doing amazing! I am going to enjoy watching your garden Journey this year. It will help me make it through the Winter here in the States. My daughter is jealous at time and calls them my Plant babies. Because there is so many stages and things you have to attend to before they produce something editable. From seed to harvest I'm out in the garden everyday after work. Nothing like having your hands in the Earth!
Haha, yes onions from seed this year and they did so well! They are looking like they might get fairly big too. Last year I grew from seedlings and they were huge so I’m interested to see which ones are better. I completely get it! I don’t have children so yes my plants are like my babies too! My garden is my happy place where the rest of the world fades away! I check on my seedlings way too many times a day to see if they have grown! 🤣
Your seedlings look amazing! I tried some Dwarf corn but we had a much cooler summer where it was getting down below 60 in August so it never reached the eating stage. I could be bitter but I'll just use the stalks for Halloween around my lamp post in front of my house.
Thankyou! This new seeds starting recipe I created has helped so much with my seedling growth! Oh that’s a shame you didn’t get any corn to eat this year. But good idea to the Halloween stalks! I’m hoping I get a decent harvest before the rain and humidity and pests arrive in November!! I love fresh corn! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hi Larissa, I just found you channel and wow what a great garden. I love your netted beds, what a great idea. Must admit I also follow Anthony on Syd Backyard Veg. I also like the idea of those two trellis. Well done. Looks like I need to check out your other videos. Cheers.
South Carolina here so summer coming to an end, busy planting my autumn\winter garden. Saw you have some San Marzano seedlings, I grew one San Marzano this year and just wanted to say the sauce you will make from them will be the best you've ever tasted! With sweet corn wrap the seeds in wet kitchen paper (tissue paper) keep them damp and they should start to sprout in 2 - 3 days then plant straight out into their final position, I get almost 100% germination this way.
Hello and thanks for watching. I’m really excited to try San Marzano this year and make sauce with them! And your comment has made me more excited! Thanks so much for the corn sprouting tip! It looks like this new batch might be doing something after only two days so fingers crossed but I will definitely keep your tip in mind and try it next time! 🙂🙏🏼🌽🍅
The possums lull you into a false sense of confidence. They leave a particular plant alone until you think they don't eat it and then ..... They tried my potatoes plants. Hope they get a belly ache. Gold Coast here. Good to see a more local gardener posting.
They sure do Caroline! They always trick me the pesky little things! I’m surprised they haven’t attacked my mulberry tree yet as it’s right near the fence! Every morning I go out there expecting all the berries to be gone but not so far thankfully! I hope your possums got a belly ache too from eating your potato plants. My possums leave my alone thank goodness! 🙂
I just went and checked my tomatoes that I have in a pot outside my raised, covered beds. I put organza bags over a bushel of tomatoes yesterday and today they are all smooshed and pulled off the plant. The possums are ruthless around here! 😤
They have grown some small leaves and looking healthy! You will see them in the video I upload in the morning as I’m planting near where they are located. I will do a garden tour in two weeks showing how everything is going also! ☺️
They were California red and Hunter River Brown seeds from Bunnings! This is the second year of growing them successfully and quite easily here in Brissy! 🙂
I was under the impression that Corn didn't like to be transplanted. I planted mine in the bed about a seed deep and had about a 80% germination rate. Water often
I have heard that too but I have transplanted from seedlings in the past and they did fine! I’m waiting for my cauliflower to finish and don’t want to wait a few extra weeks to sow in ground that’s why I’m doing seedlings to save time! 🙂
Did you grow your onions from seeds? I've only ever used onion sets. They started out great but never got very big this year. One of several disappointments. Or Garden experiences depending on how you like to look at it.
I’ve heard onion sets are great to use as the growth gets started and then stopped so they don’t really recover. I’ve had good success from seeds and seedlings! 🙂
That plant that has grown massively but didn't produce might be due to you using to much Nitrogen in your soil. I know one year I used to much 10.10.10 in my potatoes and I had huge greens and hardly any potatoes.
Hi Larissa, gosh you have so many different varieties of fruits and vegetables. Your garden looks awesome!
Thanks Lynsey! And there’s so more I want! Haha! I need more land! 🤣🌽🫛🥦❤️

I love your screened in garden beds. Your heart isn't bad either LOL just kidding. I'm just amazed how you stay so clean while gardening.

I think it is wonderful to see so many people growing their own food 😊 home grown food is so much better than store brought .

I bought the same arch from Bunnings but haven’t assembled it yet, I want to grow scarlet runner beans up it …I’m in Adelaide
They are so easy to assemble Angela. It literally took me 10 minutes and it’s very very tall! I might have to take some pieces out. lol!
I’ve learnt to pick tomatoes before I think they’re ready because those possums also have their eyes on them too and tend to beat me to it.
I just went and checked my tomatoes that I have in a pot outside my raised, covered beds. I put organza bags over a bushel of tomatoes yesterday and today they are all smooshed and pulled off the plant. The possums are ruthless around here! 😤
