    Hi
There is a similar device serve the home reviewed a few month back
it was a Qotom q20332g9 with the same processor but more ports

Yep! I thought that Qotom box seemed interesting too but I don’t think I would want to use it for something like OPNsense. Seems like the throughput is lower than I expected on the 10G interfaces in OPNsense because of the Atom CPU (and perhaps FreeBSD driver support?) but it is capable of sending 10G with a single stream and receiving 10G when there are multiple streams being sent to the box.

I bought a c3758R Qotom box last week hoping to install OPNsense
Since it will be similar to pfsense on the netgate 8200 box

      But almost at half price

How would you compare the performance of pfsense on netgate 8200 to OPNsense on box like this?

I would have to test pfSense to see if it fares better. Maybe FreeBSD 14 will help but not sure. OPNsense will be on FreeBSD 14 soon. I was getting about 3Gbps. Hardware offloading with multiple streams seemed to get me up to 6Gbps. It’s possible it will saturate 10Gbps if you have multiple streams of network traffic. I didn’t get to do a ton of testing yet. Also I’m going to try the box with some SFP+ modules that Tometek is going to send me soon.

Just curious is there a way that you could use the SIM card slots as a voip gateway?

I’m not sure if it can be used as a VOIP gateway since I’m not familiar with how that works.. I believe it has 2 SIM slots so you can have both 4G and 5G cellular Internet (at least that’s how it’s advertised on the spec sheet).
