In this video I'll go over the different Pinewood Derby wheels, I'll discuss the different mold numbers and the different colors. Watch to the end for a chance to win a set of BASX class wheels!
Thank you for all of your videos. I found Turbo derby last year at the end of the season so I have a lot of his tools. How do you mount the wheel on the lathe for machining? Is it just a friction fit with the pin gauge? Ive been searching for this answer and cant seem to find it.
How are you checking bore size
I bought a cheap set of pin gauges on eBay.
I had to sub. Thanks for your Info.
Last year we ran green wheels, but I have never checked the inside mold numbers.
Thanks for the vids ... You're the best I've found on the internet. Well done.
What tool do you use for coning the inner / outer hubs?
I own a lathe and use it for all the wheel work
Lots of great info! I need to buy a lathe....but I have a wife. good luck, right? Haha!
Thanks again Dan!

That’s a good question. I should have discussed that in this video. Yes, it is friction fit. I cut my pin to .0985” diameter.
@@mikemcguire2550 Do you ream/true the ID of the wheel (~0.098") prior to fitting on pin
@@jonathanmantes I do on the Revel wheels because those bores seem to be tapered
Great information about the wheels. Never thought about going through wheels and trying to find the lightest
Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed it!
