Matt...I agree...the Rose Bowl had that national championship feel to it. @joshr6540 - To each his own...I guess. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...even when their opinion is vastly out of sync with the general consensus. And the general consensus is this: The 2024 rendition of the "Grandaddy Of Them All" was easily ONE of the greatest Rose Bowls ever played. There are so many people who agree with that conclusion (including Alabama fans like Matt)...so many news outlets...so many college football channels on UA-cam (SEC and otherwise), that it would take all night to list them. I have to believe that you may possibly be suffering "Sour Grapes" syndrome (especially if you are a Crimson Tide fan, or an SEC fan, or a Huskies fan). Most of M's mistakes were special teams' mistakes, but there were others as well. That's what happens in college football. And when you say there were so many mistakes, you seem to equate "mistakes" with a bad game to watch. That is a logical fallacy, in that the "one" does not automatically equal the "other." I would also argue that often times, the mistakes make for a more interesting...a more entertaining game. I, and those who watched it with me were on the edge of our seats. Take the 2006 Rose Bowl: USC vs Texas - Texas pulled off the upset in a game that is often proclaimed as the best Rose Bowl ever. That is the overwhelming consensus, by far. Fans believe that, even though there were 3 turnovers between the teams, and both defenses decided to not show up for the game, as there was over a thousand total yards combined. All of that, and college football fans still list that 2006 Rose Bowl as the best...an instant classic. So you are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine (of course, mine is the majority opinion by leaps and bounds). Now, you seem like a pretty good person, but I have to block you now...I just don't have time for a back-in-forth debate that will be fruitless for both of us.
I appreciate it, man. Great review and assessment. Uncanny how so many so called college football fans bought into the flashy offense that Washington had, even though history has shown us time and time again that great defense stops great offense every time in football. And yes, my favorite win in this run was against Alabama in the Rose Bowl. That game was iconic! I agree. That was the national championship. That was definitely a heavy weight prize fight. The excitement and euphoria from winning that game was simply unmatched by anything this season. Thank you for the congratulations and Go Blue! Hail to the Victors and National Champions!
Michigan was legit this year. The good news is that I have more confidence in Milroe coming back after seeing that defense own a 6th year starter as well. If he studies film with that as the standard we could see a great qb next year
Over 300 yards is a statement, with that defense holding a explosive team like Washington to only one td. You can put this Michigan team up there with the last two Georgia teams as being one of the best all time championship teams of all time.
First off, Congrats to Michigan!! 🎉 Second, it was sad to see a blow out in the natty but usually that’s how it goes is one team every year gets blown out. I was hoping for closer games this year and the AL vrs Michigan and Texas vrs Washington games gave us that, this one sadly did not.
@@khrisstake2210 I’m a Bama fan but my friend is from Seattle so I didn’t have much choice once we got knocked out but I had a feeling Michigan was gonna win.
I’ll explain Harbaugh’s drafting ranked 18th. He’s doing what others aren’t and they will learn from him and catch on. Who would you rather have on your team? 5 star players right out of high school or high 3 star and 4 stars in the portal that have more experience and are key players needed as 5 and 6 year seniors. Harbaugh is treating this (portal players) like NFL business from his office. He’s a genius and this is very smart on his part. I think Harbaugh stays, he’s 60, a family man, had number of kids still in young grade schools, they’re settled and his parents both live in Anna Arbor and are in their 80s. It’s just too much of a big move to say pack up and move to San Diego or whatever. Go Blue snd Stay Humble Wolverines
Let's go blue and roll tide and congratulations to Michigan for winning the championship against Washington last night and you know what we'll be back next September and we're gonna to geart so don't worry about it and Michigan its been a long time coming for you guys and who's got it better than y'all.😊
Michael Penix got exposed for the first time in this game all season. The plays Washington Offensive Coordinator was calling were great plays. Ryan Grubb had guys open all game long but Michigan’s D line was overwhelming Washington’s O line. This game showed me if Penix gets pressured he misses so many reads and forces so many throws. Pressure absolutely destroys his decision making and accuracy. So a good D line will destroy Penix that’s all I needed to know watching that game. He can’t perform well under pressure. He makes so many rushed irrational decisions and throws inaccurate passes or misses them completely.
Love your take on this Matt because starting next season Washington USC Oregon and ucla are coming to the big ten so next year they are going to be facing more defensive minded schools unlike when they played in the Pac twelve wear defense was optional so all I have to say is welcome to the big ten
I felt really good about Michigan's chances before both of the CFP games. Both Alabama and Washington had stellar quarterbacks, and a lot of commentators were forecasting that they would (or at least could) pick Michigan apart. But they were forgetting that, since the Covid year, Michigan was specifically built to deal with a stellar quarterback, i.e. CJ Stroud at OSU. Given the way they handled him, and the OSU team as a whole, I figured they would be fine against both Bama and Wash. Nice to be right!
THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM! Washington was one player! Michael Penix Jr. One player is not the Team! “NO PLAYER IS GREATER THAN THE TEAM! NO COACH IS GREATER THAN THE TEAM! Michigan is a whole complete Team! GO BLUE!
I was told Michigan hasn’t seen an elite QB like Penix before. I told all you fans talking the smack Michigan’s defense is elite. I will say Penix Jr is a warrior though, he got beat like he stole someone’s money and he still ran out there.
That team was like clemsons team that had a mission to beat bama from the looks of the game great job from a tee fan last night showed actually how good bama was this year
Michigan looked like an NFL team when paired up against Washington. The score never made sense for most of the game based on the play, but Michigan wore the hell out of Washington. 100% on board that the real championship was Michigan against Alabama, that was the proper match up.
I keep telling people - those fancy passing offenses seldom work in PHYSICAL conferences like the Big Ten and SEC. Even the so-called lower tiered teams in those conferences are PHYSICAL. The new additions to those conferences are in for some serious growing pains. The line of scrimmage rules in the Big Two conferences. Defense is not optional here.
Penix is a great QB and was almost always able to get the ball away without taking a sack (only 1). But the pressure was obvious the whole game.... his options were extremely limited and rushed.
Man I grow up seeing bama win the natty every year and rooted against them every year. But watching mattbegreat for the last couple years got me wantung to see saved win the natty one more time🙏🏻🙏🏻 but anyways go blue tho 〽️ #mattbeoneofmyfavoriteyoutubers
‘Bama is an honored enemy; the only team to take the lead on Michigan in the 2nd half ALL YEAR. Even though it felt like Michigan was chasing points throughout the entire second half against the Buckeyes, the Wolverines never trailed in that game (and probably should have won by more but played conservatively late).
It’s like FSU and Jordan Travis, hard to replace a QB that good but I agree. The game was out of reach for them at that point and he was still out there clutching his rib
Michigan fan that's been watching you since about halfway through this season. Nothing but mad respect for Alabama for the past 15 years, and yea; the Natty was the Rose Bowl.
Michigan fan here, after seeing so much excuse making and sour grapes from Washington fans, glad how class most Alabama fans were after that game. Michigan as a fan base seems to fit in much better with the SEC, they are surrounded by some pretty toxic fan bases in Ohio State, Michigan State, and Penn State, where Washington seems like they will fit right in. You've earned a subscriber from a non Alabama fan, keep up the good work.
The real championship game was OSU vs Michigan. Michigan could have easily scored 2 more scores in that Bama game if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. The score didn't really suggest how much Michigan was dominant over Bama. The toughest game they played all years was against OSU.
You can just cover the NFL playoffs in the meantime to fill up a few months of content for 3 months so the wait won’t even be that long so it’ll only be a 3 month wait 💯
So I feel this game is just an example of what happens when Michigan doesn't make those special teams mistakes. The Alabama game honestly shouldn't have even been a game. Michigan gave Alabama a short field every single time they got the ball and the only time they scored aside from maybe 1 score it was off of a start at around the 50. Take away the turnover at first, Michigan scores, take away the bad punts, and make Alabama start at the 20, Alabama is more than likely scoreless in the first half, and maybe the only touchdown all game is the first score after half. Good game but it closed only because of Michigan's special teams. Still. what a crazy season!
If the reel natty was last weekend then we won it anyways (twice). By the way thanks for allowing me the pleasure of enjoying your videos. See ya next season

Thank you for the congratulations and
Go Blue! Hail to the Victors and National Champions!
Yea that rose bowl was the real championship to me Michigan Alabama game was amazing
Appreciate the credit as a Michigan fan〽️ Alabama looks real good going into next year
I appreciate ya as always Matt, Michigan vs Alabama was truly the national championship game 🫡
I'm so sad that this season had to end. it was so fun and the peak of my michigan fandom
Michigan was legit this year.
The good news is that I have more confidence in Milroe coming back after seeing that defense own a 6th year starter as well. If he studies film with that as the standard we could see a great qb next year
Thanks Matt. See you next year in the playoffs. Go Blue.
thx for the gratz for u of m. it was a big ten game. true enuff about the bama vs mich game. that really decided it all.
It’s been a pleasure following you this season from Ann Arbor! You da Man Matt!
Over 300 yards is a statement, with that defense holding a explosive team like Washington to only one td. You can put this Michigan team up there with the last two Georgia teams as being one of the best all time championship teams of all time.
Georgia vs Michigan was the game I wanted to see.
Enjoyed your content all season. Looking forward to seeing you this upcoming season.
I'm so happy and blessed today. Michigan broke through, it's been a long 26 years since the last National Championship. GO BLUE
Go BLUE!!!
No 2023 was michigans last national title 😊😊😊see what I did there 😉
@@StevenNeidlein lol
First off, Congrats to Michigan!! 🎉 Second, it was sad to see a blow out in the natty but usually that’s how it goes is one team every year gets blown out. I was hoping for closer games this year and the AL vrs Michigan and Texas vrs Washington games gave us that, this one sadly did not.
It wasn't a blowout until halfway into the 4th quarter
Game was much closer than the scoreboard shows bud
@@khrisstake2210 True.. I was rooting for Washington but it was not a good game for them.
@@brookico WASHINGTON......... Ew
No one can be Harbaugh. comeon man. there is no formula. Be You.
Kiffin is King of the Portal. Harbaugh is gonna bail before the NCAA negates Michigan's wins and takes away the Natty.
Unfortunately...hes leaving...and he doesn't have much of a choice
Toughness in the Trenches equals a W 78%of the time awesome season BLUE 💙
Love your take on this Matt because starting next season Washington USC Oregon and ucla are coming to the big ten so next year they are going to be facing more defensive minded schools unlike when they played in the Pac twelve wear defense was optional so all I have to say is welcome to the big ten

Michigan's O-line didn't get the Joe Moore award this year and we took that personally. Our O-Line balled OUT.
Love you Matt. From a Michigan fan that moved from Alabama! Gooo Blue
Good man, Matt. Looking forward to your content next season.
Y’all lost to Texas buh have the nerve to say the Michigan and Bama game was the real championship how bout yall win yall regular szn games firdt 😂
Micheal penix gave it his all even with injured ribs I believe. Any NFL will be lucky to have him and his resilience
Yup the Natty was in the Rose Bowl for sure! All respect for Bama. Hail to the victors! Go Blue!
BAMA this one for you!!!!!! - my LeBron voice 🤣🤣🤣
100% agree with the natty was played the previous week between Bama and Michigan.
I was pretty much just watching the game to see if there was gonna be a teaser trailer of NCAA Football 24, imma 🤡 for that
THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM!
🤣
Washington fan here congrats to Michigan. Impressive victory!!!
Hats off to you man. Thanks for keeping it real. I have found Bama fans are handling this with class. Go Blue.
That team was like clemsons team that had a mission to beat bama from the looks of the game great job from a tee fan last night showed actually how good bama was this year
I wore my Alabama tshirt last night when I watched the NC game.
Love your channel Matt!! Spring will be here soon!!
ROLL TIDE!!
🐘🐘🐘🐘
Michigan looked like an NFL team when paired up against Washington. The score never made sense for most of the game based on the play, but Michigan wore the hell out of Washington.
100% on board that the real championship was Michigan against Alabama, that was the proper match up.
Michigan fan, will keep an eye on your channel, great videos.
Cold hard facts. After Michigan won the rose bowl i straight up said "we just won the Natty tonight"
Thanks MattBeGreat for another great year of college football coverage and reactions. What are you going to do now that college football is over?
The real national championship was played when Georgia and Alabama played
Cope harder
I keep telling people - those fancy passing offenses seldom work in PHYSICAL conferences like the Big Ten and SEC. Even the so-called lower tiered teams in those conferences are PHYSICAL. The new additions to those conferences are in for some serious growing pains. The line of scrimmage rules in the Big Two conferences. Defense is not optional here.
Big ten will do well with new playoff format. Imagine an sec team visiting in Iowa, Penn state, ohio state, Michigan or Wisconsin in December.
Great show, 👍 we finally got one 🏆
Quality Content Matt Go Blue!!!!
I love watching all of your videos. See you next season!
#GoBlue
‘Bama is an honored enemy; the only team to take the lead on Michigan in the 2nd half ALL YEAR.
Even though it felt like Michigan was chasing points throughout the entire second half against the Buckeyes, the Wolverines never trailed in that game (and probably should have won by more but played conservatively late).
Another thought, what was Washington thinking keeping Penix out there ?? Dude was about to kill over. That was crazy
It’s like FSU and Jordan Travis, hard to replace a QB that good but I agree. The game was out of reach for them at that point and he was still out there clutching his rib
And Michigan was blitzing because they smelled blood.
It was painful to watch. But also respect. Fought like a warrior.
Michigan fan that's been watching you since about halfway through this season. Nothing but mad respect for Alabama for the past 15 years, and yea; the Natty was the Rose Bowl.
Michigan is the best team ☕
EZ 🤣
I am an Alabama fan since 1963 . congrats to Michigan .In my humble opinion Georgia is the best team even though they lost to my Tide.
Thank the gods someone else noticed 73 and how much he held
Michigan only had 5 offensive turnovers in 15 games. 4 were ints by JJ. That’s nuts! Oh and they only committed 46 penalties in 15 games 😮
Thank you Matt! 👍 GO BLUE
Ohio State was also a lot closer than people are giving them credit for. They took Michigan down to the last drive.
Why didn’t they win their bowl?
@@swatisquantum Are you being serious? Marvin Harrison Jr didn’t play
Marvin Harrison Jr didn't play against Michigan either. 🤣@@eyeofapophis888
If the reel natty was last weekend then we won it anyways (twice). By the way thanks for allowing me the pleasure of enjoying your videos. See ya next season
We won 3 nattys this year IMHO
You do a good job man, see ya next year. And watch out for my LSU Tigers next year.
I mean at the end of the day, Michigan wanted it more. Why couldn't my ducks have played that Washington team!
They don’t have a Jesse Mintor.
You can say that about EVERY PLAYOFF GAME EVER. “oH thE rEaL cHiP waS lAsT WeeK.” You’re fun to watch Matt but that is the worst narrative ever it’s such faulty logic.
There is no way to know what would happen in each game. You can do your hardest to predict, but there is no way to test the matchup until the game happens.
You called it Matt.
