“Less GABA” means more glutamate. More glutamate means an increase in anxiety. Got anxiety? GIVE UP coffee. There’s a start.

So I've been trying to cut down and/or eliminate caffeine as I find I was getting really dehydrated due to the constant urination and I was also up at night till about 1am - sometimes 2/3am. I've switched to decaf tea and BOY what a difference. I'm hardly ever running to the toilet. I'm in bed by 22:30 sometimes and I'm waking up feeling refreshed. Now I know some people say decaf tea has chemicals in it, but for now I'm more than happy with the results.
The withdrawals were.....unpleasant to say the least. Headaches, general tiredness, lack of drive, no sex drive whatsoever and for the first 3 days I actually couldn't sleep very well. These passed within 7 days though. *Worth it* doesn't come close. I still have a cup of regular tea now and then as well as some chocolate, but I'm never touching coffee again. Even the smell has changed from pleasant to revolting.
Next of the list is alcohol and nicotine. I changed from smoking to vaping and have cut down on drinking a lot, but I'm going to push to cut them down even more this year.

The smallest amount of caffeine make me short circuit. I get palpitations, and tingling in head, hands and feet. And my body feel very heavy.
My bp get elevated also. The worst feelings ever.
I used to to love coffee. And drank it daily.

Furthermore, saying that GABA reduces activity is an extremely generalized statement and in practicality often not true if its just a small increase.
Yes it is primarily inhibitory, but in this way it seems to inhibit cognitive reflection as well, making people to not overthink their actions as much, right? Thinking of alcohol as a GABA releaser and it's effect in inhibiting reflection and worrying.

wanted to like this but little effort is made to help the viewer understand if the impact of caffeine is good or bad.

12:22 "One thing that high ACh will do, is it will increase the activity of the VL preoptic nucleus"
12:48 "...as well as increasing ACh, which also shuts off the VL preoptic area"
This gotta be a mistake. I'm really confused of what to believe now.

yes that was a mistake! thank you for letting me know. Adenosine activates the VLPO while acetylcholine shuts it off. I added an annotation

I have a question you may or may not be able to answer--does caffeine effect everyone's body in a similar way? I ask because no matter how much or how little caffeine I have, it seems to have absolutely no effect on me.
