It wasn’t until later in college that I started to approach pitching as throw by throw chess game. Throwing the first pitch based off of the hitters stance and then adjusting each follow up pitch based on the hitters swing or reaction. Very well articulated, coach. Nice video.

Dan, excellent information, and I hope JC, High School, etc. coaches who call pitches are watching this video and absorbing this important foul ball location information.
With greater frequency than I care to admit, I see amateur hitters batting against pitchers throwing in the low 80's who cannot get around on that pitch, and unfortunately, the coach on the following pitch calls for a let-up, whoops, change-up, and the over matched RH hitter blasts it over the left field fence or through the 5 - 6 hole; or, a "gravity curve" is called with similar results.
In the minor leagues, I have seen very smart catchers who can assist pitchers lower their ERA. Those catchers always seem to at least get a cup of coffee in the show. If they can hit, they stay there.
I just came across you channel a few days ago, and I thoroughly enjoy you fine commentary. Keep it up. You have a lot to offer to the ones who want to learn.

Thanks for the kind words - I like teaching the strategy of the game so I'm glad you find it's filling a void.

I agree. This is as much for catchers who are given a leash to call pitches.

Being 6'0 or 5'10 or 5'8 probably has its advantages in baseball. If you can hit for power and your small then the bat isn't gonna have to travel as far. A 6'5 guy is gonna have alot more power, most likely, but will have to get that barrel around an even bigger area. And when people like aroldis chapman are throwing 105mph fastballs it matters.

I get what youre trying to prove but what youre saying isnt true. if arms were locked, maybe, but a swing is not just the length of your arms.
