Yesterday I bought a gibson les paul standard 1886, same color ) Those tim shaw it seems are cool for blues/rock/punk, but for something heavy and evil I wanna try in future the 498t or JB.
Usually. Sometimes you’ll have a two-piece top with piece that takes up about 2/3 of the top, and then a smaller piece that takes up another third. So it’s still two piece but not dead center. I know it costs less to do it like this because you can make greater use of the small pieces of wood, but I never understood why they would want to do that… In this case, however, I think you were right.
@@Swinbad Does an 86 sound much different? I know the Kalamazoo factory shut its doors in 84 and the old ladies winding the shaws were laid off, and production continued in Nashville.

Ipad version of youtube in safari don’t allow to edit messages, so “1886” will stay )
No tim shaw pickups after 84...tim shaw said it himself in an interview
3 piece top. If 2 pieces, your contrast between the top pieces would be dead center. Cool guitar!

@@pappyodanial That’s a really good question. I haven’t played enough from either year to know the answer.
Strange to see a Burst Custom
Yeah, these were made in this color throughout the 70s and 80s, but you don’t see a lot of them.
