- How to Use a Knit Foot :: by Babs at Fiery Phoenix
A massively requested tutorial on how to use the "Little Sister" to the Walking foot.
This tutorial shows how to attach (the most complex part of the process) the knit foot and then to use it effectively with a knitted/jersey fabric.

Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I have been knitting sweaters on my Bond Knitting machine and was hand-sewing the side and sleeve seams. Now, I am using this foot - so much faster and the same end result. Thank you again!!
OMGod you are a lifesaver! I have a Singer Tradition Essential model 2277 machine. I bought a "walking foot" and a "knit foot" both were from Amazon from sellers that didn't really specify exactly what models or how to attach the feet. I loved how clear and informative your video was! I couldn't find anything in my manual or from Singer about the "knit foot" and that stupid bar thing just seemed to be in the way! Now thanks to you I understand how it is to be put on and how it should work! Loved your video!
I’ve had this foot for about 6 months now and have yet to try it. Thought maybe there was a trick in using it. Seeing your video, I’m going to go use it right now. Thank you for your informative video!
Thank you, Babs. I apologize if I sounded harsh. It wasn't meant to be so. Your demonstrations are all wonderful!
Thank you. I'll try again now. Was struggling with attaching this foot, but I think you just resolved that. Nice tutorial to understand. I'm enjoying my pressure foot attachments, it sew much easier 😄
OMG, I am THAT NEW to sewing I had NO IDEA these things existed!!
I only went looking for button holes....lol
My world has just become bigger and I look froward to being part of your fb group too x

Thank you for this video. Now I understand! No more fear of knit fabrics. Recycling old knitwear as material for dog coats from now on.
+Susan Corfield I'm sure the dogs will be very grateful. I'm so pleased this tutorial is of help for you.
Why it is called "knit foot"? I don't see why, please, could you illuminate me?
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! Knits will be so much easier.
You are most welcome. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Thankyou. Very clearly presented. Very useful.
Great video..Thank You!
Amazing work💛♥🌹
My oriental purchase of this foot labeled it a Kint Foot so I am glad this popped up when I did a search because that is the very foot...Knit....I will relabel it.
+Liberty Leslie glad I could help you out with your "Kint" foot LOL
Spelling is wrong..mine too
@@BabsRudlin I also have the Multifunctional Kit 32 and mine is also labelled "Kint" foot LOL! I would love to see a demo on the JAGUAR foot - all I get when searching is videos in foreign languages.
Thank you so much. This was great.
I love your tutorial! I have been thinking whether to buy a 32-piece set with no walking foot or a 15-piece set with walking foot. Can this knit foot totally replace a walking foot?
Hey! I love your tutorials they've helped me so much
Thank you for your tutorial
So awesome thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
very nice. thanks so much!
Amazing I can't wait to get started😮
Thank you!!!
Me gusta aprender y conocer para que y como utilizar los pies prensatelas. Para ver estos videos pongo traduccion en español pero es muy regular esta traduccion ojala puedan hacer algo al respecto. Gracias Pat desde Bogota Colombia

thank you!! and yes you did say it right!! i usually get "robin" or "ruben".
+Torrey Roeben Hurrah! I was so worried I would inadvertently insult you by getting your name wrong. So glad the tutorial will be of use to you. Thanks for the suggestion :)
No im use to people getting it wrong lol:-)
thank you!!
+Nikki Bacso you're welcome 😊
Thank you so much for showing all of these! I have not watched them all yet, but I will. I bought the same box of of Ebay. I have hours of searches to find out what foot was for what and the name. I know I have gotten a couple. I didn't know I had an adjustable Bias tape foot! :) I didn't know that was for knits! So thank you again!
Nice
Which foot do you recommend for stretch fiber like tricot. This one or another. I have bought a multifunctional kit with 72 pieces. Ilse
Super can you make some more videos of the pressure foot
شكرا💐🦋
Thanks
Could you please tell me if we need to stitch with a normal straight stitch or a zig zag stitch with this presser foot?
+Vagdevi Akella A straight stitch will not stretch with the movement of the fabric. Any stretch stitch or your zig zag stitch will work best with a jersey or knit fabric.
thank you
So can this be used in place of the walking foot ? I don't know much about the walking foot 😁
Does this foot work on stretchy material like Lycra & other dressy stretchy material?
I just used the knit foot for the first time, and the blue rubber piece fell off and got caught up in the thread. I was able to get the thread out of it and reattach it but I'm not sure I did it right. I will try it out tomorrow, but I wonder if this is a common occurrence!
+knittysong oh my! This is the first I have heard of the blue rubber piece coming away. Glad you could retrieve and repair the foot.
Mine keeps falling off also. I'm thinking about super gluing it on...
I wonder if glue would help. Would it possibly prevent the foot from feeding the fabric properly? Babs, what do you think?
PS to my previous comment: the blue piece has fallen off again. It gets caught up and sewn onto the fabric. Would gluing it on be a good idea?
My first attempt to glue it didn't work (fell off again). This time I tried Loctite ultra gel super glue. I have only hemmed one seem around the bottom of a t-shirt. The blue piece stayed on and the material fed fine. Hopefully it will continue to stay put!
Because you didn't have the pattern matched on the knit, I wasn't able to determine if the foot actual held the 2 knit pieces together evenly, as the foot is supposed to do. Would you please record a new one matching the pattern on the knit, please?
Hi Margaret, that is an excellent suggestion. This video was simply how to use the foot rather than a review of its effectiveness. I will record a comparison video for this knit foot and also the full walking foot as a review of true relative effectiveness. Many thanks, Babs
The stitches are even for God's sake thats the main use. i dont have it yet so mine are kinda loose on the the bottom geez think a lil bit
hi. can i use this foot for sewing padded bags?
I intend to use it for this, I have not idea I had a mini waliking foot!!
How about the needle? Can you use a regular universal needle or you need a stretch needle?
Please could you tell me if this is the foot to use with a hand knitted (double knit) woollen garment? I would appreciate your advice.
+Gail Farrow Hi Gail. When I work with double knit for my Pixie coats I always use a serger so it seals in the edges as I sew. This foot will feed through the thicker layers of a double knit but It's my personal choice. If you have the option to user a serger or overlocker I would go with that. If not this is a good alternative if you use a stretch overlocking or zig zag stitch. Make sure you manually check the width of the stitch BEFORE sewing and always use a test offcut first.
Thank you Babs, I will have a look into your suggestions. I have several "feet" that I am unsure of (new to sewing and wool crafts), after watching your feature for the knit foot, that's one I can cross off my list. I will be having a look into an over locker and server, and I have some do items I can practice on. Thank you for your help x
Does this foot work and function properly with Stretch Stitches?
Does this foot work with stretch lace fabric
Ma che punti usare con quel piedino? Spero mi risponderai!!!! Scusa ma non so l'inglese. Grazie per i tuoi video
Awesome video, your machine sounds like it needs a service though
The set I bought calls this a KINT foot. I thought it was a typo, but I wasn't sure.
Lol how funny. Definitely a typo.
mine also mention as kint foot...lol
lmao yep same
So this is a mini walking foor?
My brother machine that i just purchased does not have the drop down lever to secure the presser foot..it is a low shank machine..and I can’t figure out how to attach this foot to my machine..I think I’ve bought the wrong one! Model number ST150HDH
that stitch still came uneven and the fabric dot stretched on the top there fore not a good stitch at all!! sorry for my opinion if it bothers anybody!!!!
I was sadden by mine ,; the needle kept hitting the foot on the metal 😩
Gina Correa that’s what happens to mine, I have been trying to find out how to line up the needle with the foot
Why would u use this instead of normal walking foot?
Thank you for the help..Have to say you sound just like a tarot reader I listen to . Soul whispers . Must be your sister ?
Sadly I don’t have a sister....
Blue plastic is supposed to be thrown away it just protects that part during shipping and such. Can't believe everyone is gluing it on when it falls off!
You are incorrect. The blue piece helps guide the fabric.
Something wrong with the volume. Even at highest level I can't hear what she says. Video without audio = of no use for anything. I would LOVE to see it with audio.
+Marilyn Hollingsworth I'm not sure why there was no audio for you. I just double checked and audio levels are just fine.
I can not hear either
And why is this thing useful ? Fabric is not wavy anymore or what ? :) I have walking foot and I dont know if I should buy also this one :)
+Slavka Bar. I would say that if you already have a walking foot there is no real need for this one.
maybe it's easier to attach , is'nt it ?
And can I ask you one question ? Is this foot also preventing knit fabric to do that... wavy kind of look ?
Like this upper picture : farm8.static.flickr.com/7005/6842572807_a8186a202d_b.jpg ?
Slavka Bar.
It is a simple clip on bar attachment, a walking foot usually is screwed into place. Yes it maintains even tension to avoid the ripple from pulled knit fabrics.
Looks like it skipped a few times, she moved the fabric too quickly/
