This song put me on to Nas on 1995 when I got the Street Fighter soundtrack. I had never heard of "Illmatic" and remembered him from this song when "It Was Written" drop a year later. lol
@@mistaskeem lost tapes 2 sucks. EVen Lost Tapes 1 doesnt have a ton of his underground shit. They were all on mixtapes before the rap game went to shit
@@DrugBa642 i was/am all about the golden era. Lost Tapes 2 is all newer shit. Vol 1 had Blaze a 50, and Gotta Love It and other underground mixtape tracks. Sorry, just disagree, the 90s and even some early 2000s stuff cant be replicated in my eyes. Only rappers from back then still bringing it and sounding right are Jada and Styles

wow. I have this on cd. It's on the soundtrack for that terrible Street Fighter movie. I rented the movie in the 90s and got the cd with it for free. Ras kass, Pharcyde, Ice Cube and NaS all on there :O
dude Blaze a 50, Fetus, Poppa was a Player were out in like 1998 but came out on "Lost Tapes" in 2002. Maybe Nas fans thought the song needed more exposure. Who cares
Ilove my nigga Pac to death, but tacs like these make me reconsider who really was the best, still Pac but Nas is definately a very close second and biggie 3rd
Well AlphabetAceA,I can see Pac,Nas,& Rakim being in the top 10 but common man,Jay-Z & Biggie in the top ten?Every1 knows dat knowledge is king.Jay & Biggie rapped about limited issue & never really spit any real life knowledge that was important.I would put Pac and Nas as my top 2then Scarface,Gza,Kool G Rap,Killah Priest,Ice Cube,Guru off Gang Starr on that list.Jay & Biggie are WAY overrated, thats just my opinion. P.S.I wish Nas would have put this song on 1 of his albums. This song is nice.
totally agree on Jay and Big being overrated but don't agree on your top 10. Scarface, GZA, and Guru suck to me. Whether its their voice, going off beat, too simplistic, etc.... Ice Cube was cool in the NWA days but nothing special. Killah Priest had a few really solid albums but def not top 10 material. I'm with you on Pac, Nas, G Rap though. Id rather put Styes and Jada, AZ, Prodigy, Ghostface, Pun and others
All the namecalling you started and began with indicates of having female traits, and approaching this situation like a sensitive person.....You need to check yaself, and ya false salutary way of livin and quit makin excuses...And all the songs on LOST TAPES weren't released at all, this song was, so it didn't belong on there. Keisha92,B.I.G is a way better lyrcists than Jay.Jay bits off 2 much people, dat alone takes him off the top 10.I liked Jays 1st album a lot, then i felt like he sold out & I stopped liking him.Jay has commercialized hip hop 2 the point dat its waterdown.4 me,I don't like it.All Jay albums are the same boring thing.Once in a full blue moon,u get a meaningful song by Jay.The funny fact,he hasn't lived that life style.I think ras kass,K-rino,Immortal techique should be mentioned in the top 10.
25 years later!!!!.... Still knocks!!!!!!! Aged very well!!
This song will always knock. I put my kids onto NaS with this one. They're 10 & 9 years old

Respect to Nas, good song.
From the 'Street Fighter' soundtrack of the Jean-Claude Van Damme film. With a bunch of other rap artists on there: Paris, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, etc.
