I love the Solterra. I have had mine for just under a month and put on 2,500 kms thus far. I have tested it in city, on medium and long trips and it handles beautifully. It has taken on incredibly severe weather and floods without issue. I was quite skeptical about the lack of a rear wiper, but honestly it clears without issue. I will have to see about this in winter, since we get large amounts of snow and ice. I have been charging on lvl 2 and cycling between 50-70% in the city and tested the DC fast charging on both 50 KwH and 100 KwH fast chargers on my long trips. I have not encountered any issues thus far and the charging time on the long trips has been between 30-40 minutes to achieve 80-90% charge. This has worked well with the need to have family stops for food and bathroom breaks.
I don’t hate it, I actually like the styling better than the Toyota BZ. I would definitely go with black or dark gray to mute the black cladding. For me it’s the performance. I test drove one before going with a Nissan Ariya AWD. One thing I learned about buying an EV is to buy one with about 5k miles on it. The MSRP on our Ariya was a little over $62k and I picked it up for $45k with 6200 miles on it.
I look at the EV used vehicle situation as a buying the dip type opportunity for people who want to get into an EV without as much capital on the line.
Ambassador here, and I actually just leased one of these (Limited in Harbor Mist). Right now, these low lease payments are because they're able to roll incentives that DONT qualify on purchases into the leases; In that there's a lot of lease incenties on these to get to that 329/329 figure that the 0/72 buy option doesn't qualify for. I did lower my payment a little compared to my OB XT Touring, with a slight insurance increase... but at 1/5 what I'd pay for fuel in a month if I charge at home, it really works out. 200 in range for highway seems about right for what I got, especially once you get over the fun of flooring it for the rush. Generally I'm around 4-600 miles per month, and have an Ascent in the house for longer drives as needed. If you can lease one for 3 years with those incentives, residual on a Limited is around 25k on the 10k/year lease, you essentially got those tax breaks if you choose to buy at the end of the term, so not a bad way to play it if you end up loving it. The front end on this is definitely better than the BZ4x imo, the faux grill helps it a solid bit. The cladding frankly looks better than the gloss black available fo the BZ too, like the piano black interior bits, the piano black is going to be covered in micro scratches, unless you stay on top of buffing and waxing.

The top speed is 105 mph not 110 and don’t expect anywhere near 222 miles of range if you’re running the climate control whatsoever. This was my first E.V. and in 2024 in Kansas we had -10°F temperatures but anything below 45° and expect to get around 180 miles of range if that if you’re having to run defrosters etc., lower that down to 150 or less if you need all wheel drive 120ish… and by the way, mine doesn’t even have 5000 miles so there’s no battery degradation and again it’s a 2024 touring however I do love the vehicle. It’s fantastic. That’s plenty of power. It’s very capable I live in the city, but I have family in Manhattan Kansas and K state so I drive this vehicle about 160 miles one way to school and back 3 to 5 days a week and it has saved me thousands of dollars on fuel in one summer.
There is "designer trend" right now that is going for the plastic fender look. The new Hyundai Kona (in some trims) is a primary offender as well. Let's hope they didn't use Aztek for inspiration.
Gotta say it was the Toyota engineer (it has it as well with a different shade of black than black paint if you choose that) after being told to make the EV "not so good". /s
Picking a car is like picking a spouse; regardless how great their best features are, you gotta be able to live with their faults. I have a household with three cars and my wife much prefers to take her car (GMC Acadia) on long trips. I also have available level two charging at work. As such, this is a commuter and weekend car for me and range and level three charging speed don’t matter much to me. Picked one up about a week ago, took advantage of the $329/mo lease and I’m loving it. I suspect there’s a lot of people who live in two+ car households that would love it as well.
Is it confirmed the 24 AWD comes with a Panasonic battery instead of the CATL? The BZ 24's AWD also have a 150kwh charging limit up from 100 and a 7.6kwh on oboard charger. I'd think the Subie would be the same.
I hate the pattern with these automakers throwing on those cheap looking plastic fenders, bumpers etc. I was interested in the corolla cross but it having those cheap plastic fenders killed it for me. Can imagine what it'll look like after 5-10 years in the sun.

Similar to the Prius, but I like a bit taller of a vehicle. But I won't do a full EV. I don't have the place to charge it. And a Hybrid system would probably cost less than a full EV.
