I have the exact same amp and had the exact same issue; two of the tubes were on their way out and took a couple of fuses with them in the process. I got a matched used set of 6L6s and pretty much went through the same process you did, except I’ve got a slightly colder bias. This tends to be an issue down to the stock Ruby tubes not being all that great.
@@Nullifer Unfortunate case of poor quality control. On the upside, you’re probably the first person to have a decent quality video fully outlining the biasing process for this amp. Many people on various forums and UA-cam comment threads have been looking for such a guide.
Have this same amp and getting ready to replace the stock tubes. Any chance you could explain how/what the calculation is to get proper bias values from plate voltage? Thanks!
@@Nullifer Perfect. thank you! Thanks as well for sharing the plate voltage. Assuming all RD100's plate voltage is going to ~470V, but to be sure will definitely measure mine as well when I re-tube. *PS. How do you feel about the sound/quality of the TAD 6L6's over the stock Ruby 6L6's so far? Never used them and I'm trying to decide on Ruby's, JJ's, or possibly TAD*

I noticed that mine was not biased correctly also, and those were the ones that crapped out

@@Nullifer tnks a lot =)
I can't get my amp out of the case, I've loosened all the screws but it's somehow stuck
Do you have any ideas?
@@julian-904 you took the screws out on the bottom?
@@Nullifer yes
@julian-904 i wouldnt recommend forcing it but mine was slightly stuck too, just make a full 360 check to make sure you didn't forget a screw
I've seen such equipment for $500
