Totally agree with so many of your insights, especially no longer buying for one occasion. I want to be excited again about using my favorite items again and again.
Thanks for the shoutout my love. I too love the researching, the search and deciding what I love - so I want my luxury shopping to be positive and enjoyable. Not restrictive and limiting. We are rule breakers Dayle so best to not make any rules I say!
Well articulated! Stepping off the race track to wonder through the park and see where you end up is how I like to shop. In the end there is nothing we have to have. If it’s meant to be it will happen, or it won’t, making way for something more treasured.
I like the idea of taking the time to step back and not rush into a purchase. Sometimes it’s only one night I sleep over it but it can be much longer. With one of my bags it took me over one year to buy the exact one and it just was a right decision at that time. I find that if I truly love a bag and it fits me 100% I keep seeing myself wearing the bag in my imagination to different occasions/ styles/ time of the year etc. - similar to your ‚not buying for one occasion‘ point
Agree totally. Also to look at what additions to your wardrobe will make that bag work. Often it's just a key item. This is enjoyable as an exercise but not as much as getting the hero piece.
That’s the main point of my low buy year. It’s to really focus on pieces that I love and not just like. I think it’s easier for me to put a number in it because it really forces me to think about a bag before I buy. I can very easily get caught up in the boutique experience (sort of like you buying the card holder at Rue Cambon) and this way I give myself a chance to step away and really think about whether it’s a love. ❤️
You’re very disciplined! For me as soon as I add limits and rules I’m a gonner. It’s something I love doing so I want to redirect my energy to enjoy it in a more productive and rewarding way!
I think it’s great that you know yourself well enough not to put unrealistic restrictions on yourself. Your intentional year is going to be great. My 2024 restrictions were all things that I felt I would be able to achieve and manage. The 3 bags is going to be the hardest part 🤣.
Love this ! So important to think about why we are spending what we do … and hey sometimes it’s enough to just love something without logic. I’m so guilty at the moment of buying for occasions and can see myself ending up with a collection that is full of once used items … so intentional shopping needs to start for me !!
My intentional shopping this year is to pause and reflect and take time to really decide if I really love the item. I’ve purchased bags on the first days of the drop because I was afraid they might sell out and I really didn’t give myself time to reflect. Example I bought a bag from the new LV denim collection and I really love it but did I buy it because I was afraid I wouldn’t get a piece from the collection or did I really need the bag. I should have waited and really thought about it.
Great insights Dayle! I agree with you. I am usually pretty intentional with my expensive purchases. Not to say I don’t make a lot of them, but I’ve usually thought about it in advance. And if it’s not a seasonal color then I try to think at least a few weeks. With seasonal purchases I’m sometimes impulsive but usually I’ve seen or heard about the products at least a few days beforehand so I know if I want to jump on them when they come out. More often than not though, I’ve had sometime to consider if it’s just excitement at a new product or if it will really work. And I usually choose well if I’ve had a couple days to consider. I try to consider what will play well with other things I have and will only buy colors that work well with my wardrobe as well. You just talked me out of the new Tom ford cream eyeshadow palette. Thank you. I have so many to play with and I wear similar colors day to day.
i know what you mean. we get scared it'll sell out or price increase. thankfully the bag worked out for you. but imagine if it didnt. ive done this plenty of times and been lucky they've worked out. but now im not trying that luck. im going to take my time. because let's be honest, resell market for sellers isnt so hot right now.
i love this take. i am doing a low buy for anything that's not on the wishlist. because i realized that i feel rushed if it's not on there. so i guess it's now shopping with intention for anything new. i dont like to feel rushed and not well prepared. i like to research, look at pics/videos and if possible try it in person before i take the plunge. im thankful that the ones that i rushed buying worked out great, but with these prices best to not risk/keep testing my luck.
Great video, I do try and be intentional! I rarely buy impulsively I think once you have a collection that covers everything it’s gets easier to be intentional ❤
Have the textile peekaboos (spring 2010) reached your search results yet? maximum smiling and the linen ones are aesthetically the closest thing you can get to straw/raffia. There's also the grey wool version from fall 2009 but I figure that less you.
Completely agree with the concept of being intentional. By nature I don’t like being told what to do, so not much of a trend follower. I choose things that make my heart sing, usually that involves colour. I suppose I look at it that if I never follow trends then I am always on trend in my own way! BTW, that silver peekaboo has my heart singing!
I agree, I don’t want my great investment pieces to sing and then fall silent, I want to hear their sweet melodies at all times so I gotta write songs for them!
I can’t follow trends as most don’t suit me but like you I buy intentionally. I buy what I love when I love. I don’t restrict myself because I dont buy crazily. great video Dayle. Thanks
I don't follow trends probably because I haven't been many places except doctors in the last few years but even if I had I still don't think I would have. I buy what I love because I feel that is the most important aspect to me. I have to love it first and foremost and then I make sure it fits into my style. No use me buying something I do love but doesn't suit me. I hope this makes sense. I think I am a bit high at the moment on strong pain meds as I am not too good in the pain department at the moment so sorry if this is a bit of a jumbled mess. Much love. Jenni. XX 💜
Oh Jenni I’m sad to hear that lovely, you’ve had more than your share of pain, time for those thoughts and prayers to work their magic and leave you in peace to enjoy your fabulous family and things!
It’s easy to get caught up in buying especially when SA’s are so helpful sending you pictures and look books 😂
Sooooo helpful 🙈🙈🙈
They know how to press your buttons Meredith!
Chanel has even done a 'buttons' ready to wear collection. They know what they're doing!
you had me at "beige bras and essentials" 🤭 it's true, luxury should wow. the impact should be commensurate with the sticker price.
I agree. I love the hunt for a piece and the excitement if finding it at a great price!
Winning!!

Eyeshadow pallets, so many eyeshadow pallets! Your Tom Ford Pallet is a perfect everyday one!
They are all so pretty!

Those casual browses that end up in a ‘love at first sight carry bag coming home with a skip in one’s step’ moments are the best!

Yes occasions come and go!
Great points. It's smart to take a step back sometimes and reflect on the pieces that we've selected and how they have or have not worked for us.
Agree totally. Also to look at what additions to your wardrobe will make that bag work.

Absolutely- how do we know it’s not FOMO unless we have the bravery to actually miss out…. That’s the hard part isn’t it?

@@pappyone6062 thanks for sharing Pap, I think that’s a great strategy, and good for you for hitting pause on the eyeshadow!

Yes the prices are definitely making the research way more important than before!
Buying stuff that you need or has functionality is a good way to be more in control as opposed to buying things impulsively.
Good point!

I absolutely agree it’s knowing when you have the bases covered is the challenge!

I'm on to this one now but please don't scare me with anymore cost per wear!!
It’s the worst reality check ever
Great video! ❤ exactly what I’m trying to focus on this year.
Thanks Ruth 💕
Great points! Thanks for sharing; there isn’t a race. 💙
We do think alike. I have a pair of leopard pony hair loafers and a weekender leopard luggage set ♥️
Love that for you!!

I love these vids. Who’s taking over? 😅
🤣
Does the pink tassel bag have a cross body chain ?
No it has a shoulder length chain though
I know you said I could fly over and grab the silver Peekaboo, but I think it will be quicker if you send it to me 📦 😂
🤣🤣🤣 quite possibly… but the motivation just isn’t there 🤣
@@DaylesAddiction 😂 😂 😭
So now you’re saying bags needs a specific purposes 🤯
Nooo
