My husband got me my first “preloved” bag. It was actually in brand new condition but was a color Hermes no longer makes that I had coveted for years. He had one of my friends source the bag from a very reputable reseller and then had it triple authenticated just to be sure because it was very expensive. It was every bit the memorable experience I have had getting a bag from the store. It was shipped beautifully. If there was something else I wanted that was no longer made I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Once it is yours, you don’t really care if it was from the store or not. I am quite open to both.

My preference is to buy in the boutiques but I have to admit walking from the store to the parking garage was very scary. (I live in Atlanta, GA). In this crazy environment, I think the boutiques should offer a security officer escort to your car.

For the style you love like colors raffia metallic sequins, prelove is really the way to go! Usually these bags are kept in excellent condition bc first hand buyers are scared to use in fear of resell value, which is perfect for second hand buyers 😍

My boutique experiences haven’t been anything magical but to be fair I go in usually knowing what I want so it’s very transactional, so I don’t have any SA/CA relationships. Partly this is because I’ve never gotten the fancy treatment so I’ve grown to not expect it and consequently I don’t really bother trying anymore. I tend to order what I want and it shows up at my door. Maybe I’m the oddball here but it works for me. 🤷🏻♀️ For me preloved is about the right bag, right time, right condition at the right price. When that combo happens it’s great!

It can be so fun building a relationship with a lovely SA but vintage offers some real gems that you may have missed. Both are wonderful when finding the right bag ❤❤

Hi Dayle, I’ve bought a couple of times from boutique but most all of my bags are pre-loved in brand new or like new condition. I don’t always have the funds to do the boutique shopping and to top it off there are no stores near me. So I use a very small group of people that I’ve shopped with for many years. I too like the full set when it’s available but it’s not do or die for me. What matters to me most of all is the condition of the bag. I really enjoyed this video. And also the blouse you’re wearing in the video I finally sent mine off to get it tailored to fit me. It was way too long came down to my knees no lie😂😂😂😂. Anyway, great video thank you. I can't speak to luxury in-store shopping as I've live in rural areas most of my life. I love good leathers and a few wonderful-to-me luxury bags over the years. Your unboxing of the metallic lilac Mulberry Alexa bag a few months ago did me in! I was pushed over my indecision to finally find purchase my own from Fashionphile in the color called acid green which turned out to be the perfect green-blue color of glacial water. It looks new and unused and came with everything: bag, original care card in envelope, brand dust bag, not a mark or stitch out of place...I was so excited and happy with it. Thank you for the reviews, mod shots and commentary! I will have it authenticated to double check but honestly I'm not too worried. Adore your style!

My pieces have come from pretty much everywhere: boutiques abroad and closer to home, fashion house websites, pre-loved marketplaces of all kinds, third-party online boutiques...I've kind of sacrificed the CA relationship a bit through that approach and that's something I'm revisiting for select houses but the mix of experiences has added some fun to the thrill of the hunt. Great topic, Dayle!! I think your collection is that much more unique and eclectic because you're open to different ways of sourcing/buying. 🤩

Living in NYC I don’t think I will never get tired of the luxury boutique experience. Unfortunately, I have experienced some not so great experiences but it’s not the majority. With that said, oddly enough, I do have more preloved bags in my collection than new bags.
Oh it’s definitely my preference but I love that we have options!

im only in the preloved camp. everything I want or looking for so far is preloved as I have missed out on the collection due to not having funds when they came out. here and there I will go to a boutique but that's if I want something from the current collection. the other reasons I love Preloved is; I don't have to be anxious that I'll have to deal with bad SAs/have a bad experience, don't need to force an interaction, I save money but more importantly, I won't baby it. I will not worry about the bag and just use it.
We love making it ours don’t we! I do think preloved pieces, even in excellent condition give us more freedom to just wear them!
I’ve got a trusted seller I use to buy vintage Coach pieces and they’re always in fantastic condition and I can buy a piece which is actually rare. It’s my favourite place to shop, but I like the boutique also as they give great service and the pieces are brand new and the latest style (though the styles and leather quality aren’t as good as the vintage).
Always pros and cons, the more we know the more informed decisions we can make.

It's frustrating not having Luxury stores here but then the prices have gone up so much I don't know if I would buy instore anyway. One day the elusive Baguette hopefully comes into my possession . Here's hoping . 🤞Too many medical bills at the moment even with top private health cover. All the specialists/surgeons are charging huge out of pocket expenses. I guess everything is going up. I do a bit of both. This year, I've bought more online than in stores simply because the deals were better (Cettire, Selfridges, ebay, etc.). I was in Paris a couple weeks ago, and I enjoyed the in store experiences and loved seeing items that are not online or commonly available. I splurged more than I intended, yet I do not regret it. I'll cut back on some discretionary spending the next month or two so that the financial impact is limited.
Also, you made a good point about the crime keeping people away from in person experiences. That is true for where I live. The fancy shopping center nearby has been hit repeatedly by mobs of robbers, and I do not want to deal with that. However, in Paris, nobody paid any attention to the giant orange shopping bag I carried down the street. Perhaps, the extra security from the Olympics helped, but I felt comfortable walking back to the hotel with my purchases.

Great video. I think you have done a great job balancing it. The croc peekaboo at 8k makes sense but not at 40k. The Green Birkin from boutique makes sense because boutique is cheaper than resale. I have bought exclusively preloved.If I had an opportunity to buy a Hermes bag I would love the experience. I have bought a few Hermes less popular bags on TRR but I have resold them all.

Having a good relationship with a Sales Associate is fun and rewarding. I have met and had great relationships with several. Buying on the preloved websites are, as you say, a potential shot in the dark. However, some preloved companies are quite accommodating with return policies (14 days). I do agree, if you can get a new product for the same or less, WHY go pre-loved? Yeah ... the Hermes game ... as an older gal, I'm not going there ... (-: Buy it, use it, love it. If you can't use it, and wear it, why buy it? (Another deep question for some $$$$$ handbags or items) ... Thanks for your videos! So wonderful! I wish you well in Paris!

I prefer boutique shopping for the experience. However I will shop preloved if the saving exceeds 50 percent, or if the item isn’t available instore. I recently nabbed a nib petite Malle for nearly 70 percent off retail. Thats impossible to ignore 😂❤

Yeah it’s an acquired taste but once you find a way to build confidence- be ware!
I think with the rate of all these Online/Stores popping up selling preloved, it has taken the stigma/embarrassment out of purchasing a Luxury product for everybody. Go back a couple of decades and people probably would have bought secondhand luxe goods on the quiet, but now people have seen that buying something pre-owned especially luxury doesn’t have to be done under the cover of darkness or clouded in judgment.
Which is a good thing, people for decades have been buying second hand houses and cars, so why not a handbag 👜

Dayle you mentioned Cettire in this video. What have been your experiences shopping there been like? Am thinking of buying shoes there but am not sure what to expect.
Very efficient- just watch the final price as with customs and duties it can change quite a bit - they regularly have a monthly 10% off coupon too!
Shipping is fast and efficient- often dispatched from a European warehouse, just no bells and whistles packaging. Shows may be different to bags, I would assume they come with the box and everything like a normal purchase - but unsure.

Well, you know where I stand on this matter. Though if I could afford more from boutique I'm sure I would buy more from there. That said, at this point the boutique experience isn't as special to me as it used to be. It's not that anything has changed on their end, I've just been in the stores so many times like it's like going to any other store.

A stinky old peekaboo! 😂 Too funny! There are many stinky old looking peekaboos around aren’t there?! Maybe they don’t age well? I don’t know but I would be too embarrassed selling a bag in a poor state. What are people doing to them - sitting on them? Stuffing them with water bottles? It’s not worth it certainly not for Fendi resale. Hence I have sold mine unused pristine and lost a lot. Bad choices in beautiful bags. (That said I am appalled at the asking prices for some beaten up old Chanel's and LVs even now… ! Asking prices mind you who knows if they will move them at those crazy prices).
I am totally on board with the new options opening up for you! I absolutely don’t care at all for the boutique experience anymore, I’m over all that.
