grandmother's fan is one of my favourite designs. plus the 1930's fabric...awesome. Thank you so much for this series. It makes me realise my quilts are for people to use and love; they are not show quilts and so slight imperfections are irrelevant to enjoying them.
You are so welcome! I couldn't agree more. Just making this series has allowed for a mind shift in my own life. Quilts are to love and enjoy. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words.
I think this pattern is in the quilt prices I received after my mother-in-law passed away. I need to work on some of those projects. Thanks for sharing your love of quilts with us all. Happy sewing
I agree pencil marks on a hand made quilt doesn't take away from it, I can see that on a bed in a sunlit room with the windows open. The fabrics and colours 💖
I totally agree! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I will have to show it on a bed once we move. It will be beautiful in a sun-filled room for sure.
Hi Kris! Enjoyed this one - intriguing pattern. I think one of the best things I have learned from other quilters is to cut yourself a break: aims for perfect - but accept that you will never hit in on every line of stitching! Likewise there's the three foot rule. If someone sees marks - that's proof that it was made by a human being - not a machine. Thanks for this video - cheered me up today!
I am so happy it cheered you up! That's what it is all about. Thank you for watching, commenting, and for your kind words. It is a cool quilt, and I love the lines too.
Hi Kris. New to quiltmaking and have watched looots of videos on YouTbe, but I love the concept of your channel which I think is pretty unique. Have watched your videos over and over whilst waiting for any new ones. Thank you so much. Can't wait for the next one. Cheers.
Wow, thank you! I love making them! Sorry I was missing last week. This move is kicking my butt! :) I don't intend to miss another week anytime soon. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Hi, Kris,! I. Just found your channel, and I've fallen in love with all your vintage quilts! This one is such a beauty, but I've soooo enjoyed all the wonkey ones, too,,,,thanks for always reminding us to accept our oops blocks.
Hi Kris, that setting is also called a lovers knot. I think it can be found in the drunkards path book.( I will share when I get home, if its here with me) Love the quilt!!! It may be a scrap project in the future!
Is this the Lover's Knot? Oops! I thought the Lover's Knot was different than this, but I am sure you are right. Thanks for watching and for all of your support! Scrap quilt in the future for sure. So many quilts, so little time. Miss you!
That's a great quilt. I love the dresden plates or the fan shapes. Would they have hand quilted them on a rack of some sort? I am really encouraged that even though the quilters of yesteryear never had too many coordinating materials, or even a colour scheme sometimes, they just used what they had and arranged them pleasing to the eye. I am not good at getting fabrics to match but in the end I think if I just follow the light, dark, medium, combos it should be good enough. That was interesting Kris.
It was probably quilted on a frame of some sort, although there is some minor puckering on the back, so minor I didn't even mention it. I love this quilt too, and I also struggle with colors. I follow the same combos to help me. :) Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love that this quilt sat for years unfinished. Maybe it was saved by a different person, and maybe it was finished by the original maker with older hands. Older hands may have learned new or better techniques, or those old hands have maybe become arthritic, but will not give up on hand stitching. Either way, great video.
I didn't even consider that! You could be right--same maker but older hands! Thank you for opening my mind a bit more about these quilts. I may have to include that in an upcoming video, giving you credit, of course. Thank you so much! And thank you for watching and commenting.

Thank you for watching! Rescue those pieces! :)
I just can't ever imagine hand quilting a quilt. I am in awe of this! Beautiful quilt!
Right? I can't imagine it either. Maybe someday.

That one block is also called drunkard’s path when the fans are one piece
Yep! I must have cut that part of the video. Oops! Yes, it is a drunkard’s path block. :)
