Being able to lie when making campaign promises is what the real concern is, not that they're marketing effectively. It should be prosecutable, felony fraud to lie during campaigns about your true intentions when you enter office. I'm not just talking about Trump, either, but all elected officials (federal, state, and local).
Not for nothing, but Trump has been truer to his words - like them or not - than any other president I can recall in the last 40+ years.
Public's opinion may be influenced by those personalized advertisements, but in which way does *THIS* kills democracy?
The public's opinion is still the public's opinion, their opinion has always been influenced by advertisements, by the journal papers they read, the people they talk with, etc. As long as people are convinced by some shitty advertisements, it doesn't changes anything. People are people, they are influencable, they often vote for dumb reasons, but it's still people's opinions, it's still *Democracy* .
Destroys democracy because then it becomes easy for people to create tailored narratives that make the little people like you complete tools. It becomes really easy to divide and conquer Society

Why democracy does not lead to solidarity, prosperity and liberty but to unrest, runaway spending and a tyrannical government.

Funny how every comment here is about "he's just bitter about Trump!" while he isn't even saying anything about what he thinks of Trump.
His point is that the targeted advertising creates a fragmented polarized society. Whether or not a left- or right- wing party wins is not even relevant.

Angry people are more right wing? Really? Let's try out the idea that the extreme of both Right and Left are equally angry.
Do you hear yourself? They targeted their potential audiences in a better way and i don't hear you say they lied about anything. So, what i'm hearing is that the internet improves democracy
Putinbots out in force in the comments here.
Last time I checked the USA isn't a democracy. It was set up as a constitutional republic, because all past democracies only lasted about two hundred years before their downfall. I don't want to hear your stupid, the U.S. is a democracy insults, we are a Republic it's the reason why we last so long. Our government has just been skewed into thinking where a democracy.
As for the rest of the video, it just sounds like a dude that's upset Trump got elected and brexit happened. Truthfully the whole Cambridge analytica thing was kind of unsettling, but I don't have a Facebook account so it didn't affect me. PS I didn't vote for Trump but I do think it's hysterical he got elected and I'm enjoying the ride.
This comment needs to be at the top.
Yes! And we could fix this gridlock in congress, by going back to having senators chosen by the state legislator's, the way it says in the constitution, rather than popular vote.
Jesse Powell No? Care to explain.
tl;dr Democracy is subverted if you’re a Republican candidate and your message is effective.
hoofed is the whole channel then biased or is it just this video?
