I think you might be sleeping on Everybody Lives. It has a lot of versatility: it stops craterhoof/critical mass swings, it can be a heroic intervention in a pinch, it shuts down storm, shuts down Thoracle ofc. It can even be used as a general fog if the table is conspiring against you and someone is swinging at you for 20. Being able to buy yourself another turn while being untouched is pretty solid imo. We have Angel's Grace ofc (and this card sees play!) but Angel's Grace puts you at 1 life which is a scary spot to be in, while Everybody Lives lets you untap unscathed
Beezy stopping after David Tennant left doesn't surprise me. He strikes me as the kinda guy who doesn't like Matt Smith. He sure did miss out on some classic episodes though. I consider Matt to be the Krenko: Mob Boss of 2005 Doctor Who.
A neat interaction Missy can have is with the "Free" morph cycle. There are 3 morph creatures that their cost to flip them are to reveal their color from your hand(red black or blue respectfully). Meaning with a sac outlet you can loop them.
As a 9th 10th and 11th fan, the Timey Wimey deck literally grabbed me by the throat and made me buy it. Also Beezy, my guy, that "New Teeth. That's Weird" sign speaks to me.
As Foretold is such a good card in the Timey Wimey deck. The doctor's ability and the other time travel effects ramp up As Foretold pretty quickly and let;s you jsut hard cast big spells from your hand for free. I do agree that you would need to make a lot more cuts and additions to the deck to include those big spell payoffs (like Expropriate, Time Stretch, etc), but I believe it is a fantastic card.
Day 52 of guessing the Moxfield ad at 16:44. I pre-ordered all of the decks before all of the cards were spoiled because I'm part of the problem when it comes to presales. I'm super excited for the villains deck, as well as the deck with the first 8 doctors, but all of them look like fun!
There was definitely an "Investigate" sub-theme in Paradox Power... Because that was the deck i built after playing with the precons unmodified. Fugitive Doctor + Nyssa of Traken Academy Manufactor. Fugitive is kinda there for colors, but Nyssa straight up just says "when Nyssa attacks, Sacrifice X Artifacts, Draw X Cards, Tap X things." it's kinda... Bonkers.
Turned my Faldorn deck into Thirteenth Doctor//Clara Oswald and oof it sure is pretty good! The counter synergies are really interesting with something like Gyre Sage or that new Kami from MOM.
I was able to play with pods of unmodified precons, and I think the strongest was by far the Blast from the Past. The amount of board wipes in the four decks scared me until I realized Blast from the Past had _half_ of them. And it's the one that ramps up it's board state the most, with card advantage and creature buffs. Alistair was literally craterhoof without the trample. Hero's Podium is also in there for more buffs. I also was able to churn out Sixth Doctor a few times, and the lack of interaction in the four decks made him absolutely INSANE. If we're looking at normal games, it obviously needs some help... But so do all of them. None of them have enough interaction to really hold up, and they're all REALLY weak to interaction.
I just want a dalek deck, gimme a board of stupid little killer garbage cans. I have a feeling I’ll need to build it myself with the weird amount of variety in strategy
i have to say, i bought the three "doctors" precons, and out of all of them the blast from the past has been the most fun to me so far now i kind of merged them together, making the tenth doctor a temur deck which works WAY better than jeskai, and upgraded the blast from the past with some cards out of them, and even got some spare to make a war doctor deck blast from the past remains my favorite as of now, it's so much fun
I bought Paradox Power specifically so that I can do Twelfth Doctor plus Clara Oswald in black with the theme of exiling my opponents' stuff and/or kill them in a one-on-one situation by demonstrating an extra turns spell like Last Chance or Warrior's Oath. Currently seeing what I can do with the actual deck itself as I had a Temur Cascade shell with no home, and I might do the detectives as I once had a clue deck. There's a lot of versatility in this deck but it feels kinda...unfocused?
I have paradox power and masters of evil and for me masters was more fun. Villainous choice is a great way to involve your enemy in their own destruction
@@chaserevstuning9271 slow lands are better than check lands all day, at 3rd land drop they are always untapped. They dont need to check for anything, only turn 1 or 2 do they ever come in tapped
@@chaserevstuning9271 ya the snarls are aweful that makes more sense, i dont use those even in two color. The buddy lands would be waaay better for sure
They also missed Vrestin, Mentropa Leader. You get him out mid to late game and pump a bunch of mana into him, suddenly you have a board full of flying insects that get +1/+1 every time they attack. Between them, the big beefstick that Vrestin becomes, and copying them with the Sixth Doctor, you can potentially win right there.
A huge part of these decks if flavor over function. None of them were designed as cohesive decks but an excuse to fit as many Doctor Who characters into them.
The Tenth Doctor doesn't even crack the top 5 doctors in my opinion, Eleven, Twelve, Seven, Four and Two are all better doctors, and I'm talking in the show, Ten is pretty solid as a Magic card.
I think that Masters of Evil is actually the among the most synergistic of the decks out of the box. In my games that deck became a problem quick
Yeah it always gets targeted by the table

He looks like someone who was in diapers during the 11th Doctor
@@steveita2162 I've met Beezy in person. Definitely in mid to late 20s. He's also well over 6 feet tall.
@@Alduinhead how tall you think he is? I’d guess 6’3-6’4

That is neat! Nice one
You're smoking crack if you don't think Everybody Lives is a good card. It's by FAR the best card in the set. It'll hit $50. Watch.
this comment made me laugh out loud ngl (not what you were saying, you might be correct, just the way you said it lmao)
I read the first seven words and lost my shit
HILARIOUS
Me smoking crack has nothing to do with this , good sir

A Deepglow Skate upgrade would crush. Ramp a few counters on it with time travel, then double all those counters 🔥
Paradox Power definitely my favorite just because of the Twelth Doctor
Inspiring refrain is in the timey wimey deck

Dinosaurs on a spaceship is one of many people's favorite episodes.

There are so many cool combinations to try with this set!
I appreciate the both of you going through the 4 Doctor Who decks and giving your opinions on the cards. Thank you for the video Nitpicking Nerds.

“Everyone knows David Tennant knows what he’s doing.” I have never agreed with Beezy more.
Just an FYI paradox works super well as a saga deck. Load it up with 3 blind mice and you can cast/copy your sagas an infinite amount of times.
I think you mean Blast from the Past
Master of evil feels good in the 1v1 games I’ve played so far
isnt the whole point of that deck to be funny in multiplayer games? I cant imagine the politics deck feeling good to play without politics xD
@@ich3730 I’m just saying at least imo it’s good but I’ve only used it in 1v1
David Tennant was the best individual doctor. Matt Smith + Karen Gillian was the best doctor+companion combo for me though and it's not even close.

Funny how the dramatic grixis villain decks keep ending up the bottom of the UB heaps; chaos, sauron, DRW villains...
I disagree with them calling it the worst. Paradox has zero interaction
I’m not a Dr. Who fan by any means, but the grixis deck seems the best imo.
Im guessing the ad is just after you mention the twelth doctor, which im guessing is at 22 minutes exactly
Banish to Another Universe can be a single White O-Ring, but for nonland permanents, and takes 1 from each opponent. it's like insanely pushed O-Ring
Passionate Archaeologist would've worked so well in Paradox Power considering it has River Song in it and she herself was an Archaeologist
Inspiring Refrain doesn't need to be an add to the deck as it's already in the precon btw
