I had always thought that the best version of this admirable song was that of Paris 87 ( with the tear gas interruption ) but i have to say that this one is now my favorite musically speaking.
The November 14th, 1987 performance of this timeless song at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum concert is certainly right up there with the best ever....
I think it is to do with the drum kit Larry is using here, the tom drum in particular. If you go to 1.45 where Bono says "Larry," there is the addition of the quick 6 tom drum notes. The tom drums in this performance sound like they have far less "umph," so to speak, than in other live versions, or even the original song for that matter. I probably explained that very poorly haha, but if you watch a different live performance and skip to the same part you'll understand. 😁
This song always brings back some wonderful memories.. The Joshua Tree album is still one of my all time favorites!

There is something different in this version...drums maybe. Anyways it is pleasant and melodious. Thanks for sharing
