lol Asians are so used to the cheap scares. Every opportunity they think there's gonna be some kinda ghost jumping out going "boo". lol. This is not that kinda movie fellas. This is a slow burner.
"Cheap scares" says, I assume, the American. I thought only you people liked cheap scares since anything else would be too complicted for your brains. First of all, Asia includes India as well, in case you didn't know, and second of all, the Asian horror movies I've seen have had really good stories and definitely not "cheap scares".
This is a very interesting first horror movie to see. American horror is really different throughout the decades but this movie is definitely scary and very depressive feeling
FYI The people at the funeral that Annie 'didn't know' at the beginning of the movie are the naked people throughout the last scenes at the end of the movie. They are Paimon cultist. They are the ones who, with keys to the house given them by their leader before she died, entered the home at will, wrote spells on the walls, dug up the corpse of their leader, beheaded it for Paimon and placed the headless body in the attic and planted the dead deer in the road that caused Peter to swerve and hit the pole they had designated where Paimon's spirit would be freed from its 'incorrect' female host. They are also the ones who retrieved the head. Charlie was buried headless. And ultimately it was Paimon behind ALL of their actions because it was Paimon , symbolically living in the tree house with his invisible demon minions, who was the master minding 'outside entity ' that used the House , the school and Joan's apt like "Doll houses" and the cultist and the family were his living 'miniatures'.
A great reaction to what I think is one of the best horror movies in years. Now a few bits of medieval lore to help settle your minds. The lore in that book you read about King Paimon is 100% accurate. It is actually the translated text from medieval Demonology. & if you read the text it states he can bend & break reality as he is the King of mischief. So floating Mom's & bodies... EASY for him. Same for making his followers rich & powerful. King Paimon could turn paper, or anything really, into gold. But there are a couple of details not mentioned in the book that were changed for the movie. 1. King Paimon is actually 1 of 9 Kings of Hell. Not 8. It was changed to 8 for ritualistic effect. So by real lore you wouldn't face Northeast to summon him. 2. The whole beheading thing is also merely for movie & ritualistic effect. That is no part of any ritual of his summoning. The reason that it was used is from the VERY few bits of artwork we have. & you see them in the movie. 1 picture has 3 heads hanging from Paimon's belt.
