Seeing this make my heart ache yet im cant help but smile seeing my peoples culture live on regardless of what happened in the past, one day ill make my own Canoe for myself and hopefully pass on the knowledge
I do believe the Yurok Tribe in Northern California use the local redwoods for their canoes. While not as elegant as the Pacific NW cedar sea-going canoes, they work well for them, mostly on the Klamath River.

While not as traditional, would redwood be suitable for a carved canoe?
