Mushoku Tensei is a visual masterpiece and has amazing storytelling and worldbuilding. The main reason why you weren't recommended it is probably because the MC has a tendency to be, to put it lightly, "problematic" ESPECIALLY in the earlier episodes. It's a journey where we follow him throughout his new life, and while he might not try to be the BEST version of himself he could possibly be, he's trying to make sure he doesn't waste this life like he did his last one.

Glad you are reacting to this, was afraid that since Mushoku Tensei doesn't have a traditional opening that this anime would completely escape your notice.
In my opinion Mushoku Tensei is the closest anime there is to being a perfect fantasy, although it only has one season so far it's already among my top three favorite anime of all time alongside Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Attack on Titan, and if it continues with the same quality of season 1 then it has a big shot at becoming my favorite anime overal. I have recommended it several times actually, but I think it has flown under your radar because of the lack of traditional openings, which is what people are thinking about when thinking about what stuff to recommend. There is no nudity, just mature subject matters.
The idea of being transported to another world is so common a story in anime that it has it's own genre name, the "isekai", which is japanese for "another world", but almost every single isekai mistakes what the storytelling potential of the second chance in life really is, except for Mushoku. Almost all isekai treat the second world as an escape from the first, where the first world sucked, but now the MC goes to a better one where they're the strongest ever and everyone loves them just the way they are. Not Mushoku, Mushoku says "no, the reason your old life sucks isn't because of the world, but because of YOU, your regrets are the result of your own mistakes and choices, here is a second chance to make better ones. To do it again and now do it right, step by step on a difficult road, one where you will trip and fall, but where, if you keep getting up again and apply yourself, you can eventually see the person you COULD be, and EARN a satisfying life." If this show is done well start to finish, it's the kind of story that has the ability to change people lives.
To me, this is the closest thing to a "lord of the rings" of anime, a shows where you see the love and respect for the source material in every frame, and there is no better example I think than how the show does the openings. Also, nope, not old, this show is brand-spanking new, in fact, season 2 is my personal most anticipated anime for this year, above even Vinland Saga Season 2 and Attack on Titan, the final season.
If you are going to watch it live on Twitch, please do announce it on youtube in advance, because more than any other, this is one I would not personally want to miss.

      Adding to this post:
      @G.O.T Games
I want to point out, that while there is adult content, *there is no full on nudity. No nipples, no genitals.* In other words, its "suggestive sexual content".
I'm not positive on Twitch's guidelines for that, but I am pretty sure they wouldn't be okay with it (although there are clear exceptions, hence the "Just chatting" section being filled with girls in their underwear and in bathtubs).
Now, it would be easy to turn off those scenes (there are very few of them) and just watch them-yourself (hidden to stream) until they end, then putting the screen back with no issues. They last anywhere between 20-60 seconds at most, and again, are rare. Maybe 3-4 episodes in total would have one of these scenes.
If you don't want to go through that hassle, then simply watching it on UA-cam would be fine. There is WAY worse stuff regularly seen in other Anime on UA-cam (heck if you look hard enough, you find real life full on nudity/sex that UA-cam seemingly has no problems with- ...hypocrites).
I would definitely prefer watching it alongside you, however, on Twitch. That would be the ideal outcome. If you can maybe have your mods look ahead of the episode for the mature scenes (once once again, they are few and far between!)

This anime was actually made fairly recently, only a couple of years ago but the story it's adapted from is a bit older, I've heard the lightnovel it's adapted from called the grandfather of the isekai (otherworld) genre, which includes things like overlord, Rezero, and anything where a character is reincarnatedin/travels to another world and became a very popular genre. It's a very well done story with lots of good character arcs/building, world building and lots of detail.

  • @alextygesen3101
    @alextygesen3101 Рік тому +40

These openings give you the feeling that the characters are a background to the world itself. The subtle effect of seeing the same three people hanging out and talking to each other, but not actually hearing their voices, paired with the frequent panning across the landscapes and cities puts the focus on the world. And this story is one that heavily emphasizes the world, because the three main characters may be the main characters, but the world itself lives and breathes in parallel to them. Things happen in the world outside of what the trio is doing.

This show is 1 season which was split into two parts, with the first half being labelled part 1 and the second labelled part 2. You actually only saw the openings from part 2 in this video, the playlist had the opening for each episode in the second part in there. Each song is associated with a region or city, hence why sometimes the songs change quickly and sometimes they stay the same for a while (based on how long the main character spends in a given area). Seeing openings from part 1 would have given you more context, potentially enough to jump into spoiler territory, but also enough to recognize some of the characters that randomly popped up (I believe you would've seen the maid mother and daughter in at least one of the part 1 openings, for instance).
Personally, this show is one of my favorites of all time. I have watched a *lot* of anime in my time, and when this show came out I was of the mindset that I had just seen so much nothing could impress me. After watching the third episode I was so hooked that by the time episode four aired I had read more than half the novels and when episode five aired I had read the entire series. I spent almost those entire two weeks reading, for reference. It's incredibly detailed and beautiful, but contains some themes that many people would prefer to not look at. As a result, it tends to be hard for people to talk about it without devolving into moral arguments. To completely dismiss those arguments, it has one of the most fleshed out, beautiful, and interesting worlds in any show I've ever seen. Its characters feel more real and alive and relatable than almost any show I've ever seen. It has some of the best action sequences and visual effects of any anime I've ever seen. I fucking love this anime. Could not recommend it more to anyone who isn't afraid of feeling uncomfortable at times (and, I don't blame people who can't get past it. But, I think those people are missing out).
This is the kind of show you have to be careful about though (in terms of TOS), if you ever do a watchthrough of it. It has "cheeky" moments here and there (like the alley scene) which could be dangerous for youtube, but many can be censored out without losing much.

Mushoku Tensei's original novel is often described as the series that effectively defined and properly solidified the Isekai Sub-Genere (Where the main character is transported or somehow reborn into another world). It is often referenced as how to do the genre right when so many have become so horribly bland, generic, and full of overused tropes. The Anime is a fairly new adaptation of a novel series that just recently finished.

    • @davidzollinger8436
      @davidzollinger8436 Рік тому

@@otakuparadise3585 While Isekai have been around for a while including classics like Inuyasha, they weren't really common or definitively called that until around 2010 ish when it took off as a sub-genre that was easily separable from traditional action/adventure manga/anime.
Unfortunately, that takeoff also spawned a lot of low-budget / relatively low-effort shows not dissimilar from an action comedy version of a Hallmark movie, full of long-overused tropes that can make it hard to tell shows apart sometimes unless they do something to break the mold and set it apart from others.
In a way, the genre fell into a rut where the main characters were inherently blessed with supernatural powers that make them hands down the best by default on some arbitrary adventure that can be fun if you don't think about it much as the plot is not that deep.
Mushoku Tensei redefined the genre by taking a lot of the development the genre had seen since Inuyasha and re-establishing how you can give the main character much of the same recipe and advantages that became iconic of the genre but still make them work to figure out how things work in the new world, give them a goal and real-world problems they can't just solve in the blink of an eye because 'oh I innately know a spell that will solve just this situation!' These are things that Inuyasha did quite well, as did many anime from the 80s and 90s before the industry kinda turned into Hollywood churning out generic action flick #32 for the year.
It's not to say that other shows haven't done it right before and since then, but rather that they took what on paper would be another generic carbon copy isekai indistinguishable from dozens of others and made it into something so obviously different and well done that it became what gets referenced as how to do things right when people describe what is wrong with so much else in the genre.

It's so hard to tell what's going on because it is the start of the episode and with most shows it doesn't go straight into anything significant happening right away, hence the openings being so relaxed with that song choice. It is definitely a great show as I watched it in the original japanese with english subtitles, then English dubbed afterwards because it was great and wanted to see more. It is more just showing the part of the world they are currently in during that part of the story, so for example, in that forest with the animal people, that is around where the episode will mostly take place, but there's no actual story shown in the opening part.

Having read the LN I can personally say that it is only going to get better from the newer seasons onward! Really hope that you'll consider watching this one!
Also each opening plays about 3-4 episodes, with every episode having different visuals for the openings songs. So there's never really a set "opening" it's just the song playing over visuals related to the current situation of the episode in question.
Also also the order in which you watched some of the openings doesn't align with their correlation in the shows plot. So if anything seemed confusing or out of order that's because it was. They make more sense in the context of the episodes if you ever watch the show!

Mushoku Tensei is one of the best stories ever written in my opinion. It's a story about a scumbag human being that was given a second chance to better himself in another life. Through the hardships, failures and grief he perseveres till the end of his journey. It's a beautiful story about how just about anyone can change, how any horrible person on the planet has some good in their heart and how dedication to self improvement can affect you and the people that surround you greatly. It's has a fantasy theme which you've seen by now, but the only real value that ever brought to the story was a seemingly unsurmountable object and the fear of the unknown. The author does an incredibly good job at portraying characters as humans that regardless of the theme used his execution of this message would've been phenomenal.
Also looks like you are very VERY confused on the rating so here's the best way I can explain it.. It absolutely has suggestive stuff, shit our mc starts out as a pedophile (grows and changes as a character do not worry) but contrary to initial perception (reason why so many people drop the show without even thinking about the reasoning) the show uses it as a device for mc to learn about people being people and not objects rather than mindless fanservice.

I would definitely say Mushoku Tensei was popular when it was running and is set to have another season in the future iirc. It's generally considered to be the father of the modern isekai genre (yes, there are anime that have traits of isekai earlier then Mushoku, like Digimon or Inuyasha, etc., but the more modern idea of isekai and the tropes that come with it), so it is technically kind of old for an isekai, but the LN for it only came out in 2012 even then, and the anime came out in 2021, so its not like super old.
Also as far as the themes of the show, I'd warn you that it can be a little uncomfortable at the start as the main character is a bit of a creep, so if thats out of your wheelhouse then thats understandable (namely lewding of lolis), but I will say that the creepiness isn't just there for show, but is an actual element that is addressed throughout the story (won't go any further then that in case of spoilers).

To give a bit of context: There are basicly two types of openings: The openings with the same 3 people, the boy, the redhead and the big white dude, are used when they arrive at a new location, and are mostly used for world building. On the other hand the openings with other characters (like the two in maid outfits) are more story focused. Those characters aren't random, there is a connection to those 3 and what is happening. I won't say more, except that the journey is a big part but not all of season 1.

Anime itself is like a year old :P Quick Synopsis: Dude in his late 30s or early 40s is a shut in. He is isekai'd to this world as this new kid filled with magic. Solid solid story. Season 2 soon!

Yo, I just realized you haven't reacted to the Ranking of Kings openings! I highly recommend them and the second one is in my top openings of all time. All I'll say about the show is that it defines "Don't judge a book by its cover," specifically with its art style. You'll start to see why in opening 2.

The show doesn’t have set openings. It’s like a scenic view of the setting in each episode. It gives it more of an uninterrupted feel and puts you into where the characters will continue on.

You wouldn't be wrong that the anime is pretty old since the source material is from a decade ago. However the anime adaptation is pretty new, I believe only one or two years old. I definitely recommend this as a watch, as it has become one of my favorite isekai (reincarnation in another world) genre of anime in recent years.

Oh yeah, Mushoku Tensei, the grand grand grandfather of the isekai genre.
Absolutely amazing anime. It is a very recent anime that was adapted from an old light novel that was so successful it pretty much kickstarted the isekai genre as we know it today (isekai = other world. It's stories in which the character gets transported to another world).
A lot of the usual tropes you see in your average isekai anime came from it. Which includes the harem trope and how prone so many are to have a lot of ecchi XD
EDIT: Oh, and that blond elf in the OP is a nymphomaniac. I mean it literally.
She's a special case, but there are several instances of sexual themes playing a part in the plot. It's not all just for fan service.
I will just say that Mushoku Tensei is very realistic for a fantasy setting, including what you would expect from a medieval world, in which s%x isn't a sacred thing and people don't have access to p%$n. No nudity though. Just people being nude but not showing it.

Luke, regarding spoilers, the fact that you remember the red haired woman and her child and that they are in a cell is already a huge spoiler.
Try to forget it if you wanna watch it. Unfortunately you can't forget the fact that they are travelling, so we can't help on that front, but you're not supposed to know that either because it's part of the biggest twist in the season...
Yeah, frankly, I would have recommended you to not watch any opening besides the one in which the MC is reading on the grass. I can't explain why, because spoiler, but if you remember some of the stuff you mentioned as you watch it, even without knowing the context is enough for you to figure out someone isn't going to die for example.
It's like watching Jon Snow die but knowing he would survive because you saw a snippet of the last season before you even started the show.

personally MUSHOKU TENSEI IS A MASTERPIECE :-
1)the story writing, world building, characters. and the sound track are awesome
    2) they made it to have a very unique artstyle which perfectly suits it.
    3) studio bind worked literally for 4 years to bring this masterpiece.
21:21 brro, that song isn't technically a spoiler but it will be as cool as it will be heart-breaking in the anime.
you reacted to season 1 part 2 openings and endings but, you left season 1 part 1.
you just have to watch the show to understand it. i can guarantee you that it will be worth watching this rather than watching cyberpunk. just trust me.

First thing I want to write: I love the 2nd ending of Mushoku Tensei, this song is so great that it practically immediately became one of my favorites.
Second thing: unfortunately this playlist you had was not perfect to put it lightly, it's nice that it had the endings one by one but unfortunately with the openings there was more trouble and from the first part you didn't have any openings (just like in Attack on Titan so Mushoku was divided into 2 parties of one season) and you started with the openings of the second part so the person who recommended this playlist didn't do a very good job.
Third point: Mushoku Tensei is one of the best representatives of the isekai genre, it's really worth watching especially since season 2 is slowly approaching.
Fourth thing: unfortunately, you can't always find openings and endings of anime on youtube, so it's also worth finding another source, and here I recommend "animethemes".
My 10 suggestions of anime whose openings and endings are worth checking out:
    - Ousama Ranking (ENG title: Ranking of Kings) 2 openings & 2 endings
    - Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin (ENG title: Rainbow) 1 opening & 1 ending
    - Guilty Crown 3 openings & 2 endings
    - Barakamon 1 opening & 1 ending
    - D.Gray-man 5 openings & 9 endings
    - Bakuman 4 openings & 6 endings
    - Yakusoku no Neverland (ENG title: The Promised Neverland) 2 openings & 3 endings
    - Golden Kamuy 4 openings and 4 endings
    - Ajin (ENG title: Ajin: Demi-Human) 3 openings & 2 endings
    - Shingeki no Bahamut (ENG title: Rage of Bahamut) 3 openings & 4 endings (1st season subtitled "Genesis" has 1 opening & 2 endings, 2nd season "Virgin Soul" has 2 openings & 2 endings)

About the amount of OPs, they change every time they move from place to place. So it would be fair to say that each OP represent the city the characters are currently staying, and if they come back to a previous place, the OP will change to a previous one too. (I'm referring to the song, bc the animation changes every episode)

Mushoku Tensei, an unmatched masterpiece. Fyi, you've missed an entire cour of openings. These 12 episodes belong to the second cour. Also, the first ending belongs to the 1st one. Shortly, what you get is: First cour: 1 ending, 11 openings (they contain 2 different songs). Second cour: 1 ending, 12 openings (1 song continues from the preceding cour and 4 more different songs, as you already saw). Also, Mushoku Tensei was released in 2021, cour 1 in Winter 2021 and cour 2 in Fall 2021 Hope the information was helpful :).

Finally a reaction to this beautiful anime. That was only the songs in season 2. The show is adult themed and the main character can be a bit cheeky at times, especially in the first season. The show is a masterpiece of the main character's life. It's like a documentary. It is so good, it would definitely be a good follow up to attack on titan.

There is an entire genre dedicated only to reincarnations, it's known as "Isekai" and this anime its known as the godfather of modern isekai.
Fanatism aside, this its probable the or one of the best animes on that genre and one of the best anime across all genres too.
Animation, history, development, everything combine makes one of the best stories I've read (its based on a light novel).
So far, the 24 chapters that are out, are probably, in my opinion, the introduction for all what its comming, so, if you want to watch it, be prepared because a lot needs to come.
This is my own sinopsis of the series: Horny people -> monsters -> more horny people -> more monsters -> a lot of world building -> MC character development -> a lot of amazing second characters -> more horny people -> a lot of questionable things

There's only supposed to be 6 OP's so I really don't know what weird playlist was given to you.
Also no Mushoku Tensei is actually very new the first season came out in 2021!
You should absolutely watch it after AoT! Defenetly more of a UA-cam then a Twitch show imo.
To give a brief summery it's about a shut in that has become a rather terrible person over the years and one day becomes homeless due to one last mistake and wanders the streets aimlessly. He stumbles upon a group of children about to get into a car accident and in a last act of good, he jumps infront of them to save them, dying in the process.
He then reincarnates in a fantasy world and has to live life all over again starting from birth as a baby and eventually decides that this is his opportunity to right the wrongs of his previous life and work hard to become a better person.

You asked for a basic plot : Basically the main character is reincarnated in a new world in the body of a newborn. He lives with his parents, learns magic from a magic teacher and later he becomes an adventurer. There is no rush in the story we take our time and take every step of the way with our protagonist. I love it.

It was recommended so much because the anime is a masterpiece, but the openings were made to kind of introduce the atmosphere of the episode, so you basically won't understand anything about the anime with them, of all the anime I've watched, I just know mushoku tensei who did this, and I loved it.
Btw these openings are from the second part of season 1
