Grandpa Amu and I are about the same age, and while my skill does not approach the level of his, I have acquired some knowledge also, which I am passing on to my son. It is good to see that you are doing the same.
Its good to know that Grandpa's son is also a humble man. It shows humility to say that your skills are not greatly above others, giving respect to other craftsmen. I enjoy watching Grandpa working, especially when he uses simple tools and clever techniques, and it's also nice to meet his family.

It's always sad to see the skills of a master craftsman become lost to age and time. But at least you were able to share a lot of it with the rest of the world.
My favorite video, and the one that hooked me, was when Grandpa built a whole bridge out of just a couple trees, no nails or anything.
I often just browse through the comments and look at all the different languages people are replying in, and I wonder if Grandpa realizes how many different kinds of people he has brought together in appreciating his art.
It was the bridge that got me too.

I've often wondered what will happen when Grampa Amu is no longer able to build these wonderful carpentry products, and who would "take the reins", so to speak. Then I started seeing you in some of the videos helping Grampa Amu. It's been a comfort to know that someone is learning these skills from our very talented Grampa Amu, and that he's not working alone.
Grampa Amu, thank you for sharing your skills and projects with us. You've made some absolutely amazing things! I know that you will do what you can going forward, but I also understand that none of us will ever get any younger. We will cherish you and your work for as long as we have you.
I do have a personal question for you, Grampa Amu: how old are you now? If this question is too personal, I shall understand if you don't answer.

you guys have a different style of carpentry than I have, but honestly, I am always impressed by the techniques you display.
That’s the traditional style of Chinese woodwork, no nails, build with the flexibility of the wood material. Been around for thousands of years. Old furnitures and old houses like those in the Forbidden City in Beijing were all built this way.

Acheng has arguably one of the best teachers in the world of the old traditional ways of woodworking. Combining that with modern computer design and machines, the possibilities are entirely endless. There is something very beautiful about doing things the old way though, with nothing but the mind and what hands can do to make something of great art or design. I pray that Amu is with us for many more years sharing his knowledge. It is true that there never is not more to learn; it is a continuing process to learn new techniques to achieve the result you want. May God bless with a great week to you both.
