Hello, Ranch Fam. Hope everyone is doing well. Yes, a lot of people forget that WE are the government, the shareholders if you will, and the politicians are the execs we put in place to handle things on our behalf. When the politicians forget that, we should fire them.
The problem is a voter will never accept his vote is worthless as a legislator.
The guy we vote for is never the problem, it’s the guy the rest of you vote for that’s the issue!!
Good afternoon also good Donald!
Yes we are and yes we should!
But isn't that the problem? They have forgotten and now we are being ruled not represented.
No, not a lot. Just those who get into office and declare they are leaders of the country, rather than highly (over) paid elected civil servants.

A government is like the operating system, OS, on a computer. It lays the framework for an app/program to work, and must never be mistaken for an app.
Well put Gunnar!
The Constitution is America's OS and our laws are the apps that have been purposefully downloaded to help the OS accomplish tasks.
@@goodun2974 Also, you may be badly in need of some updates for a bunch of exploits that have become obvious.
When you can both print money and tax, you should not be run as a business.
Unless it's a casino. Oh, wait, iDJiT managed to screw THAT up, too.
The people that want the government to be run like a business are the ones that will profit the most from such a form of government.
Adam Smith, the father of economics, laid out 3 responsibilities of government:
1) To protect society from outside threats. (See military, CDC, etc.)
2) To deal with internal threats. (See Police, Courts, SEC, etc.)
3) To provide those services that facilitate commerce (trade) that cannot be effectively or economically by the private sector. (See roads, public education, clean water, etc.)
The only "responsibility" of a business is to make a profit. This conflicts with the third responsibility of government.
Thank you!!!
It's also a straight up double standard to believe that the government should be run like a business but also believe that government debt is bad.
Just have a look at the S&P 500!
Fascism="Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power” ― Benito Mussolini
Run it like a business. Businesses exist to make money. Best way for government to make money....... taxes.
Yay successful Businesses!!!
But Don the Con and all his Bootlickers want to tax the lowest-paid workers the most and tax the rich next to nothing. That's not the best way to make money for the government. But they sure do a lot to convince the poorly educated that it's the only way.
Support all small businesses!!! And boycott the big ones(if you can). Show the power of customers!
Couple decades late. Small businesses struggle under the laws meant to rein in corporate, but ,big surprise, loopholes written in that exempt intended recipients, but double down on those who were supposed to benefit.
Small businesses aren't always better .
Look into their track record before supporting them
@@hannahdyson7129 That's good advice that applies to everything, everywhere, including charities.
Vote with your dollars!!!
We have been worried about the merger of state and corporate power for some time. It's what we were told is what we shouldn't call the people behind MAGA. Too bad people didn't listen to us.
I remember Beau’s video, more than a year ago, talking about something similar, and if we see Chump’s business record, we’ll see that he’s unfit to run a lemonade stand, less than the government like a business. Remember that he broke a casino…
He broke 6 different businesses, including MULTIPLE casinos.
Trump bankrupted THREE casinos!!!!
Let me put it in simple terms: the reason for running a business is to put money in the businessman's pocket.
Businesses are not demacracies, they are, at least under capitalism, authoritarian entities where you do what you are told if you want to remain a part of that entity. This is why unions were formed to begin with and why business attempts to dismantle or outright prevent unions.
I really wish people would realize that we have the power and should elect people who will serve us, and not just elect idiots because of the letter after their name. We are full of anger and don’t trust the government but we are the ones who put those people in the government. You can’t elect idiots and then complain that the government doesn’t work.
What power did we have in this last election? Oh right, none. Your comment would be accurate before Citizen's United was instated. Now we don't get to choose who is elected. The corporations do.
If only. A campaign is a job interview, but people treat it like a sporting event.
@ We (for now) still have the power to think critically, find out where people stand, and vote. We don’t have to be influenced by attack ads, misinformation, disinformation and propaganda. For example, a simple google search would tell you what a tariff is. If T’s lying and fear tactics didn’t work, he’d still do it but lose because of it.
Right on, sister. “We, the people”. I’m so tired of hearing “they ….(whatever)”. WE are the They.
Watch Sharon Stone's speech from Italy!!!
I used to do the financials for a small company, the owner's main goal was to make a 50% profit after all expenses otherwise he threatened to close his doors. Of course, he didn't pay his workers very much and got all his parts from China.
It's called Capitalism for a reason. If it's not illegal, it's legal (morality and ethics have nothing to do with it). I think there need to be limits, but how TF do you codify, let alone enforce something like that without a massive, perhaps over-reaching Government?
Good afternoon, Ms.Belle ✌🏻
I've heard this since I was a child in the 60s. You explained it perfectly.
Good afternoon dear Denise! I think we must have grown up at the same time in different places. ;-)

It’s the same corporate fantasy that gave us “trickle down theory.” It’s all unicorns and make believe - it appeals to the uneducated because it sounds good, but anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows it is a lie.
When you run a government like a business, you look at its citizens not as people but as just another commodity (steel, wood, concrete, etc)
Thank you!!!
What do you think people became when "Personnel Departments" were perverted into "Human Resources"?
You are so right.
I'm retired now, but when I was working the company laid off employees, outsourced the IT help desk to India, and outsourced the software development to China.
Nations cannot outsource their citizens. They'll just create more homeless people who don't have jobs or health insurance.
Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
This is why I hate the use of New Public Management theory in our current government and how to run it. It plays into this idea of "running government like a business", which I despise.
Let's elect a businessman (again) who declared bankruptcy 6 times. 🤦
AND who could not get hired by anyone due to his incompetence, idiocy, and proven criminality!
Trump could never get a job working for anyone else, bankrupted his own, and would be unable to get a security clearance for any government work. Yet people voted for him?
/s On the upside, if he makes the country declare bankruptcy, the debt disappears and then he can claim he "got rid of the debt" (while not mentioning the economic devastation that will ripple worldwide) /s
If the CCP (China's gov't) really comes to believe Trump will try to make the U.S. debt disappear, China will call that debt and demand redress at the UN, the IMF, World Bank, etc. prior to Trump taking action on the debt.
Except foreign countries own our debt, so we would owe them
@@JudithWaidlich Try getting the Orange Onager to understand that. There's not enough crayons and glitter in the WORLD for THAT undertaking!
The fact we (the government) don't run Medicare like a business is the reason Medicare provides health care so much more efficiently than United Healthcare.
It's also why Medicare Advantage is such a disadvantage.
Belle, thank you for this clear and powerful statement/explanation.
Good way to explain things. Unfortunately the people who need to hear it wont
For those who haven't looked it up, merging of state and corporate power, aka corporatism, is one of the main tenants of fascism.
That's called fascism for those who may not know.
If the government becomes a business, it would be a defacto oligarchy. But the merger of corporate and government power is a characteristic of fascism. People need to stop thinking "it can't happen here", it can, people are actively and loudly promoting it.
I will not be silent!!! I will not go away!!! I AM THE RESISTANCE!!!!
Yeah, what is the ROI on DoD? Zilch. We don't expect a positive income statement when it comes to government programs. The government is not some far off tower - it's all of us.
DoD - who can’t account for 60% of the billions we give them, yet whine and cry when anyone suggests that we do not need to spend more than the next 9 countries COMBINED, and 7 of them are allies.
Ditto schools (ever heard of one (public or private) _making_ a profit?). Ditto Police. Fire. EMT. Trash collection. Road-paving. etc.
We're not just the customers we're the serfs, too.
No, the customers are the shareholders. We are just the serfs. Customers have value. Serfs don't. Well, they didn't until the plague wiped them out, and there was no one to do the work.
There you go spitting facts again.
My husband worked for the school district he always asked the lunch people why they should make a profit. They were a school. They never got it
Running the government like a business doesn’t sound right to me … So should businesses run their business like a government???
Thank you Bell and crew for continuing to set the record straight on all this misinformation that keeps getting spread around. I really appreciate what you all are doing. You all have certainly enlightened me on a lot.
A business's purpose is to exploit resources and make a profit. The government is supposed to "promote the general welfare".
Mousseline said fascism is the blending of government and corporations.
A corporation is designed to act like a cancer cell. Few governments see that as a good goal.
Providing as little as possible while charging as much as possible... so basically the previous 14 years of Tory government austerity in Britain?
Yes. Exactly like that.
And beyond that…. They hired a dude who bankrupted a casino to be the CEO…..
Multiple. Multiple casinos.
In New Zealand, my country, our ex-CEO right wing Prime Minister, quite literally described the citizens as his 'cutomers' just a few weeks ago.
No MFer, the citizens are your boss, not your customer.
Don't let them get into the mindset that you are their customer, because we all know what CEOs and business leaders think of their customers ... not much.
Disliked that phrase when they started saying they should run a church like a business.
A church IS a business though... it just has intangibles as products.
@@JP-JustSayin I would say it has fiction as a product, but it's almost the same.

That was great. Everyone should hear this message.
The one who most needs to hear it, won't. I'm talking about Donnie Cheap Eggs.
A country is not like a business, it is more like a household. Members have different needs and abilities, all requiring different things.
A household that can "coin money and regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin" (Article I, Section 8).
No actual household or business operates as a currency sovereign. Not even US states have this power. ONLY the federal government gets these powers.
@@JP-JustSayin .and given time, someone will figure out how to monetize it, and then we're all eff'd.

The 2nd gilded age is in full swing!
The Gilded Age that Twain wrote about ran from around the 1870s-1880s to 1929. We're right on track for the 100th Anniversary.
Solid points w/regard to different interpretations of governments role. With that in mind I’d offer being fiscally responsible, like a good business, is a reasonable expectation of we the people
There's a line out of the movie "Dave", "If I ran a business like this, I'd be out of business". Exactly, because government is not a business. Every time we elect a businessman as president, we end up with a crappy economy.

Best four minutes ever spent on line. I have never heard anyone talk about what it means to lead the government as a business. Brilliant!

This same argument can be used to show why we shouldn’t be running public education like a business, either, which is happening more and more.
