- Over the weekend Beyonce‘s “Texas Hold ’Em,” one of two new singles that Bey released during the Super Bowl, became No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart - making her the first Black female artist to reach the top.
Since Beyoncé's venture into country there has been a surge in the popularity of black musicians within the genre leading many to believe that Beyonce's presence in country music has an "illuminating effect".
when a black person is very knowledgeable about their history, they do not waste time begging for equality and opportunity. They CREATE.
It would be exhausting for her to be focusing on album of the year after all this time and after all the hard work she has put it in. One thing you can’t take away from Beyoncé is that she’s Beyoncé. That’s all we need.

I think she snagging AOTY with this one w/o a doubt. After listening to both tracks, it sounds like it will be more interpersonal compared to Act 1: Renaissance. I think it will be similar to Lemonade but she will talk more about her southern roots and childhood.

She has to write her own music if she wants to win AOTY. If you look at previous winners of that category they all write their own music with little to no help.
Afrobeats was already big worldwide before Beyoncé dabbling in it, though.

It’s one thing to be a fan of beyonce or praise her for consistently rebranding her image in bold ways. But to state that her renaissance album was the start of pop artists creating dance heavy music has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Sorry
She definitely didn’t start it but she exposed the world to the underground world of ballroom which is on the rise. And also where house/dance/disco music originated. She gave us black and brown queer folk our flowers in a way. And that’s what separates her from these other artists.

Mariah even created The Pop/Hip Hop and Rap Collaboration (even adding Opera and using her Whisper and Whistle register) and even is very successful with the Holiday genre.
Mariah's songs stay number one longer, and her sales are beyond Beyonce's especially in pure sales era alone, versus streaming. Plus Mariah goes number one without even having to release new music. That alone is beyond Beyonce, but Beyonce is a Queen in her own right, but hasn't done anything that we haven't seen before as far as art.

I believe the Nashville stop on the first leg of the FWT was rescheduled to the second North American leg due to stadium construction.
I don’t like the notion that this album is part of her plan to winning album of the year because I think she’s transcended the stage of needing accolades for her music but yes, I’d like to hear your thoughts on why you think she hasn’t won it.

Yes she has an enormous effect especially on African American women. All those blond wigs are selling out across the country. She has been tremendously successful in pop rock and soul but crossing over into country & western was defiantly new territory . By racing up to the top of the country & western charts she’s proved she’s the fastest blond wig in the west.

Beyonce told the CMA'S that she wouldn't perform unless she performed it with the Chick's. They didn't want the Chick's back but they wanted Beyonce to perform. I think the Country Music gate keepers were mad because of what she was wearing and she brought the Chick's back, a lot of Country Singers didn't want the Chick's back because like Beyonce they were #1 in Country Music so when they were gone other artists were noticed. They asked the Chick's to come back the following year and they declined.

I agree with everything in this video, but the claim that drakes “honestly nevermind” album house centric album lacked authenticity I disagree with. Drake worked with Black Coffee, a prominent figure in the house community that understands the authenticity of house. While Drake didn’t dive in the origin of house music, I believe he did create an album that is authentic to the house music genre.
I only brought up Drake because he is known to jump on music trends in the moment. Not saying that the album was bad but it was definitely half baked in my opinion and the lukewarm reception by the public shows that alittle.
We already know wassup and why they’ve never given her AOTY… but if she does this whole country thing and STILL doesn’t get it - they won’t be able to lie and say why anymore.

Why do black Americans associate country music with West African music? I’ve never heard a person from West Africa claim the origins of country music. Country music is indigenous to the Americas. Native Americans created country music. Yes these Native Americans artists were black. The banjo is a guitar. String instruments originated in Asia. Native Americans are Asian. We are taught wrong. Europe and Africa are the outskirts of Asia. All inventions come from Asia.
Country music originates from African immigrants who brought their musical traditions, folktales and songs and instruments to North America. The modern-day banjo used in country music descends from a West African instrument called the akonting which is the folk lute of the Jola people who are an ethnic group that live in Senegal, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. Educate yourself and stop downplaying the role Africans had on modern music genres.
@@iluvbwx You need to educate yourself. There were many Native American tribes that settled into West Africa and throughout the African continent in ancient times. Liberia was founded by Native Americans. Country music is indigenous to North America. Stop giving people your stuff because people from Africa are not checking for black Americans like that.
