    After watching your videos on this Lapsun after trying and returning an Andonstar AD249S-M microscope that was more like a plastic toy, I bought a Lapsun entire setup with 180mm + 0.5x converter. This gives 17cm working distance. I too was blown away with the quality for the price and am very happy with my purchase. I paid £315 inclusing a base, shipped to the UK and an Andonstar AD249S-M was £260. Thank you so much for doing both the videos, they helped me immensely.

      Thank you so much for your nice words! I also reviewed the AD249S-M (or is sub-brand) and I am glad you agree with my conclusion! I think I also called it "a toy" at some point (clearly the last item they'll send me to review but hey...) ua-cam.com/video/Wo9eZnef9Qs/v-deo.html
      I'm happy to hear about the Lapsun. I should have gone for 180x + 0.5x as well, it's probably the sweet spot. But I am happy with my unit though, no regrets.
      Thanks for watching!

      I glad your experience was positive with Lapsun. Many customers have been on the opposite end though so be careful and do your research if you decide to buy any of their microscope cameras etc. What microscope camera model & set did you buy? I purchased one MS camera from them about 2 years ago and I was pretty unhappy when it arrived. Around this time is when they completely stopped production on the IMX290 MS cameras and Lapsun did not tell me or about 20 other people who purchased one. I received the IMX307 MS camera version and right away you could tell it was much worse. The video quality and framerate was below my likings. The IMX307 MS camera and many other they sell use a " interpolation method to produce a "60 FPS" frame rate. It was more around 30 FPS or 45 FPS with stutters / slight choppiness / lag . They originally did not want to refund me but Ali-Express forced their hand. What was crazy though is the seller working there really tried to tell me they were selling genuine IMX290 cameras still and sent me PCB picture of the motherboard stamped **290** which refers to the sensor that's soldered on the board. The picture was an old picture from when they really did have them. I already had 1) IMX290 camera from Eakins from the prior year so I knew something was off and decided to take it apart. When I opened it up the MB stated *** 307 *** and right away I knew which sensor it was. I really wanted to try out another camera from them but I've decided against it because who really knows what sensor they are trying to sneak by customers who wont investigate if they think something it up. Eakins is much more open and honest about the cameras they sell now and RISING CAM a RT5109 - 4K true 60FPS HDMI preview camera ( no interpolation that I can tell ) that has some of the best video quality I've seen. The IMX290 models were amazing and I wish they would bring them back but now the only few sensors I think work best are going to be the : IMX334 ( from RISING CAM ) , IMX385 ( V2)

      @@shiftctrlhack Sorry for missing this reply. I did mention some concerns about Lapsun's customer service in my main video. I believe I did say I would think carefully when buying more expensive ones. As a minimum, it must be covered by something like PayPal so you can return it if it does not match the description. In the end, not even mine matched the description - but I was happy with the quality so I did not complain. Thanks for mentioning though, it's a very good feedback. I have Similar 4K cam (hayear 6210) with 180x lens. The 120x lens is only different with the 0,35 eyepiece on the top, while the 180x has a 0,5x eyepiece. To me it looks like this eyepiece has the opposite effect than the barlow lens. The same lens in 300x uses a 1x eyepiece.
    I find it strange that with your 120x lens, you only have to adjust the height by about 10mm between min and max zoom to have sharp images. On my 180x lens it much higher, I have these figures:
    180x no barlow: 4,5xZoom 2,2mm visible height 8,5cm working height and with 0,75xZoom 15mm visible height 14cm working height. So that is 5,5cm difference
    180x with 0,5 barlow: 4,5xZoom 4,5mm visible height 17,5cm working height and with 0,75xZoom 115mm visible height 105cm working height. Here it is 87,5cm difference!
    At 0,7 zoom the 0,5 barlow is unusable due to height limitations, but it is at that lower zoom point that you have the highest field of depth, So that is why I prefer this 180x lens without the barlow lens and still gives about 14-8,5cm working space.

    Rather than use a custom washer on the stand pipe, I found it more convenient to cut a piece of PVC pipe (1.5"?) to the proper length and simply slide it over the tube, letting the microscope assembly rest atop it. Punt the existing clamp.

    I dont want to spend that much, but i like the 180 lens with a 0.5 barlow, and the stand. What budget camera should I get?

    • @tony359
      @tony359  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes I feel 180x + 0.5Barlow would be the best combination. I'm afraid I don't have experience with anything else but I'd stay away from those with the integrated screen. They might be a little cheaper but something like this Lapsun is vastly superiore in terms of ease of use and performance. Check the "Joylens" review on this channel! Thanks for watching!

      @@andreasachilleos6335 no unfortunately, UA-cam won't allow that apparently. I might have found it, what I don't like is that the sensor is "anonymous", it says "48.0MP 1/2.3 Inch big size Japan CMOS" :) One of the reasons I went for the one I purchased was that it featured a Sony sensor (which ended up NOT being the one advertised though). To be honest, I feel it's impossible to know what you're getting. Why not emailing Lapsun and ask for some advice? I did that when I got lost with all the models they have and the one in the video is the one they recommended TBH! See if they have some actual footage you could see. Also, I would make sure it works with OBS (if you need that) and also that it works on both HDMI and USB at the same time. Mine does that even though it was not supposed to... And yes, connections at the top are not very practical, I agree. Let me know!

    These types of lenses that are sold with cameras are not very good compared to the professional ones, both in terms of magnification and in the need for extra lenses.
    Just as they are sold for all types of cameras regardless of the number of mega pixels, which makes them worse.
    The lenses have a specific number of mega pixels to work perfectly.

      I have these two models, they are relatively easy to find on ebay at good prices, removed from end-of-life industrial equipment. The image quality is surreal and doesn't even need lighting if used with the right camera for it, as with the new IMX385 sensors, which despite the low resolution work in near darkness and at 60fps.
