- Plenty of good things! happening in our #farm , superb #harvest , new #learning and few #sad things too. Yes this all happened in our farm in the recent weeks. Sharing all of them in this video.
Glad that you are back with a update... Don't worry abt the losses... Replace coconut trees with a good variety..... Happy to see other plants doing well... Tapioca always gives a thrilling experience... We never know until we dig them out... 😀.. What happened to the 5 layer farm.. Are they doing good as expected... Let us know.... I'm also an organic farmer. I have my farm in outskirts of Bengaluru.
I had the same issue you are facing with chickens. They will eat all the young saplings and nursery plants.
They love greens.
The only solution is contain them in a particular area with Fish net of around 10feet height, else vegetables growing will be a big challenge.
Same problem going in our farm....can you suggest any idea...for that.....
@@connectingyoutofields7874 Dedicated space for chickens. You can grow other trees like papaya, Banana so on.
Keep the chickens away with fence /net
For black gram, watering would be kaichalum, paichalum method.
So, make those water lying pits plain.
If root rot is the main issue, add some coarse grind(grounded) charcoal powder to fight the rots.

You are so lucky, that your neighbours help, exchange implements but mostly in our village, our neighbours are jealous.
While storing seeds, pulses, cereals, in enclosed containers used desiccator silica packets and pump in Nitrogen(available in petrol bunks .Used in car tyres) or pump out the air and store in vacuum((small hand operated pump is sufficient). Moisture and oxygen in air are the main accelerators for spoilage. This is the reason the snacks packets are filled with Nitrogen to preserve them for long shel life. Rhinoceros beetle will grow in wet dung. Dry the dung before applying. Dont store the wet dung near ccconut trees.

காண்டா மிருகம் வண்டை தாக்குதலை தடுக்க மண்டை இடுக்குகளில்(குருத்து & அதற்கு அடுத்த மட்டையை தவிர்த்து மற்ற மட்டைகளின் இடுக்கில் அதாவது மட்டை மரத்தோடு இணையும் இடத்தில்) காய்ந்த மணலை(பெரிய மணல் சிறந்தது) வைக்கவும்.
வண்டு அங்கு வந்து உட்கார்ந்து தான் ஓட்டை போட துவங்கும். அப்படி செய்கையில் மணல் கழுத்து பகுதியில் அரித்து வண்டை மடித்து விடும்.

Coconut leaves ku naduvula always gritty construction sand , neem cake and salt ( kuruthu ) leaves ku naduvula podunga . Beneficial suppressing weeds podunga ... Daincha , sunhemp , cowpea idhellam potu cover pannunga . I'd also like you to try the three sister combo crop - Corn , Climber beans ( any bean variety ) and pumpkin . Corn will act as stake , climber beans will grow on corn , pumpkin will cover the ground and grow under the shade of them both .

Few people say if we maintain high temperature in the compost we can kill these worms but won't the high temperature affect the effective microbes in the compost?
Can we use cardboard as mulch or top layer.
Don't the chemicals in the cardboard affect the soil?

One clarification - I saw Your other video on removing weeds and You tried different options. Intha videola keethu potturukeenga. Finally entha option gave satisfying result? i believe there is not solution for weeds to remove 100%?

Can't believe your dedication bro. You stated that the chickens were bitten and killed by snakes. I see so much of weed and bush growth. So, is it safe for farm workers and your family to move around as snakes could bite humans.

unga nilathula neer nikuradala neenga chinnada panai kuttai senjikalam, so that the stagnant water all over the land is diverted towards it, which also recharge the ground water and fish also can be grown ( if u plant banana or palm surrounding it , the plant and the pond mutually help each other ), if not the fish you can grow azola

I suggested thenankeethu mulching, as it doesn't need putting holes for small plants that we do in poly mulching sheets, just make some space in keethu.
It also will avoid too much sunlight and act as 50 percent shadenet.

Feeling sorry for you lost those coconut trees, replace with a nattu variety coconut saplings.
I think, for black... Water getting hot is not a problem for lower yield.
Crop will adjust to that.
May be the soil or water quality is problem.
Please select a seed variety vamban 3,4,5 like that best suitable to your field, weather and pattam.

Buying Vermicompost is costly. One solution is to convert farm yard manure to compost via earth worms, this way weeds and other insects present in the manure can be controlled.
