I also pressed my seams open and my blocks were flat.
I followed Kimberly’s tip on cutting the outer pieces a little bigger. My blocks turned out so well! Thank you Kimberly! 😊
I like making smaller blocks so the poke a pin and open seams are perfect techniques for me. I learned this from Kimberly and 99% of the time everything lines up. I love her sewing methods. I love your pieced backings, I think you should do one on this. Not only beautiful but a great inspiration to those of us that need a little extra help in figuring it out
I don't have a clapper so I use my husband's old wood cigar boxes. They are full of buttons.

This is my favorite Make A Wish quilt ever. The design is awesome! I bought the kit because the navy background sets it off perfectly ❤
I press open most always. Poke pin works great. Also for straight to diagonal seams I use a ruler and mark the 1/4" with pencil on both and poke at those points
I watch you ironing your seams open and I tried it. My blocks lay flatter and for some reason my point meet up better. So glad I tried it. Thanks

I only press open when I have an unusually bulky seam. I think the traditionally nested seams are a little stronger. Plus I find that when I press open, the fabric doesn’t want to lay down nicely-I guess bc there’s not a lot of fabric to make it lay down. 🤷♀️

I bought the Moonbeams paper piecing kit and thought you would be using that for this block. Your block looks accurate without them
A Stilleto would definitely save your fingers.

Or even a seam ripper point. That’s what I use.
