I use to live in Long Beach. I would drive around with friends until I realize He had me driving around in one of the worse streets . CHerry. THen I accidentally drove into the Crack district because of a friend. I was told it didn't look that bad in the day, but it's different at night. Also I was going to the mall and told some friends that Breadmakers were on sale. THis was before they redid it. I drove a friend there, but warned her that for some , the neighborhood we drive through was bad. She laughed. She lived there, and her daughter once went back with her friends. She was unhappy, because she was proud of her old neighborhood, but her friends was aghast about how bad it was.
All you gotta do is remain true to yourself and don't join a side. When you visit Chicago, remain neutral. People will respect you more for being true to yourself.
You gotta hit up El Chilito 12812 Paramount Blvd Downey, CA 90242. They have the biggest burrito you will ever find. It's the entire size of a take out container and so good!
Best burrito spot is 4th st taqueria in long Beach. Carna asada burrito. If lots of bull was still around in LA off Jefferson and la Brea I would say go there. But this is the next best thing. Iykyk from a LA native food junkie!
