I live in Australia, have watched most of the games Giddey has played this season in the NBL and agree with most of what is said in this great video. The first thing is to point out that Giddey has something very hard to find: a great talent for watching and understanding basketball and a great ability to generate advantages starting, almost always, from a great jab step. That said, there are a few things he needs to improve, and those are his athleticism, shooting and ball handling. The first, the physical part, does not worry me, he is young and will improve. His shooting is definitely a problem. He is slow and with bad percentages, but he has improved from 18% to a mediocre 30%. He is not a good shooter yet, but he is not Ben Simmons. I do worry about his ball handling as it has caused him a lot of problems this season against intense point guards and good defenders. He has to improve if he doesn't want to have problems in the NBA. And lastly, watch out. Today everyone in the NBA when they see a 6'8" point guard coming from international basketball thinks of Doncic 2.0 and Giddey is not a Luka 2.0, he is actually much closer to a Ricky Rubio 2.0, 15 centimeters taller and, in my opinion, with a little less talent than Ricky had at 18 years old.
Who’s your sleeper / late round / second round picks? For me it’s Miles McBride think he’ll surprise some people in the league. Should be 1st round for me!
There's a few interesting sleepers all over this draft, so I think you can get some value even in the late second round. I'll be posting some of the guys I like on Twitter over the next two days so check that out if you haven't, but I like Neemias Queta, RaiQuan Gray, Kessler Edwards, Austin Reaves, Josh Primo, and McBride like you said off the top of my head.
He's in the conversation for that #7 pick if Golden State keeps it. The way I see it, his lack of shooting wouldn't be so important on a team where he can create for the two best floor spacers in the game: Steph and Klay.
@@FloorandCeiling absolutely not lol. The Warriors desperately need people who can shoot and score to take the pressure AWAY from Steph and Klay. If teams don't need to guard him off ball, and can sag off jim on ball, where do you think the extra attention will go toward lol
@@jarellgreer7733 Curry and Klay can play off the ball without issue. I'm not saying Giddey goes into the starting five or anything like that, but he'd be valuable at first off the bench and sharing some minutes with starters. Either way, I'm not sure Golden State keeps both of their picks tonight
He's going to be right around that range on my big board. Really talented passer with enough to make me believe he'll be ok defensively, but needs to iron out that shot.
A lineup with JJJ, Giddey and Ja is really creative offensively but also falls flat in terms of real floor spacing. I’d rather the Grizzlies target someone like Moses Moody with that pick, but I’d be thrilled either way if I was a Memphis fan because Giddey is really good.
Especially in terms of rounding out his game, but I think he's shown that he can develop quickly and that he can already be an interesting piece to have on your team
Giddey is a better shooter and a more cerebral passer imo. Simmons was better than Giddey coming into the draft, though. There's no question in my mind about that.

Spot on. Especially the last part.
Great analysis, so I pinned this comment for everyone to see. I like the Ricky Rubio comparison a lot-actually hadn't thought about that
Thanks
I think he has more defensive instincts than you give him credit for

Good call! I touch on this in my new video, but I like the fit for both OKC and Giddey.

He would be perfect on the Warriors.

I’m from Russia. Great content, man
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Great video! I think he is top 10.

two videos in one week!! Is your big board coming soon?
Yessir! Coming out before the draft on my Twitter.
do you think he’d fit in nicely with the grizzlies at 10th pick and if the grizzlies take like say quentin grimes with 40th pick

Whats will all that miss ….
Needs a lot & a lot of improvement
Especially in terms of rounding out his game, but I think he's shown that he can develop quickly and that he can already be an interesting piece to have on your team
Hes just ok on a nba level. I dont see it
Needs improvement, but is very young and has more room to grow. Right now, no, but when he matures, maybe.
nonnulla
Ooooh so hes a Walmart Ben Simons, who's not as good at defense.. GREAT.
