- New #DenverNuggets big DaRon Holmes II has been an #NBADraft community favorite for a while, but he has a very real chance of being one of the best and most modern bigs in the 2024 #NBA Draft.

NUGGET!
Welcome to Denver!
Really hoping he falls to the Nuggets but seems unlikely he'll drop that far. He reminds me of Naz Reid somewhat, offensively talented backup big who's still solid defensively.
Yeah, I get the Naz Reid gist for sure. Holmes' ceiling is to the Nuggets but, like you said, I feel like he'll be scooped up by then. Thanks for watching!
You’re a real Houdini!!
Bro called it
ayee
🎯
Excited to see him in Denver!
You were quick on the title edit
future nuggets legend... #coloradohoops
I’ve been waiting for this video! I like him a lot for my Okc squad but this does a good job highlighting how he is well versed in projecting him to the NBA but still limited in a way.
Thanks for watching! I’d like him for OKC too
Congrats for the 1million views on the channel!
Thanks!
He will Go to Nuggets! 💯💯
Let's see what happens tonight.
🎯
wow😂
He's going to be a Jokic understudy!
I just hope he's not another Zeke Naji
jeeezz , i hope too
I like Holmes a lot more.
I love the nuggets but we should’ve never messed with his jumper we made him pedestrian
hey, could you share your big board or any mocks
I'll be sharing my final big board for the 2024 draft on my Twitter soon. Link in the description!
He is a nugget
I like him a lot. One thing that stands out is his poor screens. He barely, if at all, makes contact on the screens. It’ll be easy for defenders to fight through…
In general, I feel like most bigs nowadays can stand to set much better screens. This goes into doing the "basics of a big" at a higher level for DaRon in the NBA.
Gonna do one for Filipowski?
I have one on the channel! It's from last season, but I think the analysis is fairly similar. The one caveat I'd add is that his three-point shooting became less theoretical as a sophomore. I have Flip as a lottery prospect.
Wouldn't mind him on the Grizzlies if they can't get Clingan. I'm wondering who'd be the better option between him and Tyler Smith.
How high would you feel comfortable drafting Holmes? Would you be cool with picking him at 9 or would you prefer to trade down?
Will we get a mock this year?
The most recent mock I posted will be the last one for this cycle, but I'll have draft reactions.
There is a Mock in the channel ua-cam.com/video/03LKB2c3YYg/v-deo.html
Am I being dumb for wanting him on the Kings? Could Sabonis cover enough for his strength limitations? Would we be cooked on defense with a Murray, Holmes and Sabonis front court?
If you buy his shot it makes a lot of sense
71% from the line ain’t great.. But he did go from 58-71% over his three years. I’m just still so burned from drafting Davion Mitchell that I don’t trust 3pt % outliers like that when the ft % sucks.
Holmes and Sabonis, in a vacuum, could work together. I would be concerned about the shooting and spacing to an extent, but the Kings do have a lot of scoring punch.
The bigger issue for me is that I'm not sure Sacramento has the defensive pieces to insulate that frontcourt, both in terms of wings and guards.
A team like the Timberwolves, though, which I think has some similarities to the Kings but with higher caliber defenders could add Holmes more seamlessly imo.
Spacing for sure could get weird with them. I’m not actually too worried about their guard defense though, Kings were actually sneaky solid after the all star break. Keon Ellis is a dog and Fox definitely took a leap when the whistle loosened up. But yeah, we have zero wing defenders outside of Murray. Probably should look for a more mobile wing defender.
Welcome to PHX
Womp womp 😂
Will have to see him in that Mike Malone rotation to evaluate the quality of the pick... A whole lot of Wings sitting on the bench getting very little playing time in Denver Coach wearing out his starting 5 with extended mins all season. Need a Guard that can get his shot. Kj Simpson is on the board.
Imo, I lowkey felt like they were missing Bruce Brown just a lil to where others had to step up in his place
@@andrewwalker1700 Def missed Bruce and Jeff coming off the bench. The bench looks timid at time during the post season.
9-28 is quite the draft range. I thought he would be a good fit for the Thunder, but after the Giddey/Caruso trade, they seem to be in "win-now" mode so will probably try to bring in a veteran 4/5.
In all honesty, I do not expect him to go as high as #9 or as low as #28. His outcome on draft night is probably in the late-mid teens beginning around #12 to OKC.
Top ten would be considered a big shock, but maybe not a huge one in my view because the fit in Memphis makes a lot of sense to me. I also don't think he gets to #28, but there's been a lot of buzz about Denver promising him, so it's a realistic floor based on reports.
@@FloorandCeiling he'd be interesting in Denver as backup big.. play him next to jokic for a bit or run him with Watsons rim protection on bench unit
He could still go to the thunder as a piece of the puzzle. We’re still definitely looking to win now but he’d contribute. Still possible for Presti to make a trade with the chest of picks available
Future Raptors
Scottie just signed his max extension today, so everything Toronto does going forward should be built around him.
I think Holmes can fit next to Barnes, but overall, I consider the Raptors in an early stage of their rebuild still and I'd just prioritize going for the best player available without worrying too much about how everyone complements each other.
Ceiling Jeremy Grant, Floor Robert Sacre
Why Sacre?
I didn't even remember the existence of Sacre!!!!.
Holmes will find his way on rosters with his unique skill set...he is a mixture of Chris Boucher and Kyle Anderson. I like him...he is a baller.
I really like how he plays the game.
Are you kidding me, what kind of weak comp are those? You don’t need to look any further than Obi Toppin. Holmes might be a lil better defender and post player coming out of college. I’m kind of meh 🫤 on him, and if my NYK’s were to keep both # 1’s, and he were to be 1 of those picks, I’d be ok with it. If they traded a pick and he were the only pick, I’d have a issue with not using that pick on a the best wing available
@@bronxroots6668 I'm not kidding you at all. I wouldn't joke with someone of your IQ. How is Toppin, a non passer, anything like Holmes.
Watching NBA TV they said Knicks will go for him at #25
Makes sense that the Knicks would target a big in the draft now after the Mikal Bridges trade. Seems like NY is bound to lose Hartenstein.
@@FloorandCeiling Yes true don't wanna lose i hart but we might
Not sure I like this pick. He plays with a lack of fluid movement. He doesn’t set his feet well. Dribbles the ball a mile from his body. Leans his shoulders forward every time he drives so his tell will kill him. Maybe they can fix some of that
Yup, reminds me a lot of Zeke Nnaji. Hopefully he proves us wrong
Agree with that....lack of good footwork and explosion. I preferred Dunn but there was redundancy there.
@@ranisalman9650 I wish we traded up one more spot for Yves Missi. He’s taller which would be more helpful against bigger teams like Minnesota
Welcome to the bucks
players who can play the 4 and 5 with some ability to shoot are very valuable prospects. their arnt too many of those guys.
I'm with you. He's a tweener on offense who I actually see panning out. I have some more concerns defensively.
@@FloorandCeiling can he be Jaylin Williams? thats a quality back up
@@shake6321 Jaylin Williams in these playoffs, specifically. I think DaRon can be that.
@@FloorandCeiling yaa. thats a quality player. but williams went in r2.
I need him in a Celtics uniform. He's a stretch 5 and thats what Boston needs. He could learn from Al Horford who is another stretch 5 thats on the back end of his career
Hard for me to see DaRon being available at 30 unless the Celtics trade up.
@@FloorandCeiling yeah I've been seeing him go in the early 20s in mocks. But I doubt Boston is willing to trade up.
Was wondering why the Ringer had him later in the 1st round. Actually watching video of him makes it more apparent. His play does look clumsy & unpolished at times
Some of those pick and roll plays could be bad positioning/scheming.
Needs to get the turnovers under control. Gonna have to improve his dribbling & learn to quit turning his back when he's on the perimeter.
I agree with you about the turnovers and dribbling, but I think that'll be more in check in the NBA since his role will be a lot more contained. To give you an idea, Holmes' usage at Dayton was around 32% which was absurdly high.
In the pick-and-roll, I thought Dayton lacked size/athleticism (pro-wise) in general so the backline help wasn't ideal, but Holmes also isn't really built like a 5.
SacTown
How do you like the fit with Sabonis?
@@FloorandCeiling if the 3pt % can translate to NBA it could work
24th or 25th to NYK
I can see the Knicks wanting a big through the draft now after the Mikal trade yesterday and Hartenstein probably not staying.
I don’t like what I see from the film. Doesn’t dribble well, shooting mechanics aren’t good, literally has one move driving, skinny frame and gets blocked easily on the interior.
There were better players we could have paired with Jokic
