    those who didnt live Shannons life shouldnt judge it, Judge yourself if you feel the need!!!! the truth can be hard to accept when looking in the mirror, an honest judgement of self and you may start seeing there is light and dark in us all, What came out of his heart, voice, and soul, should out weigh what he put in to it!!!

    This reminds me of 8th grade science class, I had just heard this song for the 1st time, and I kept singing the chorus over, and over again to myself cuz it gave me chill

      Late to the party. It was originally on "the best of the edge morning show" from 93.7 the edge. 1996. I had that too and this was probably the best track on it. Besides the studio tracks by some of the local bands. 12rods. Flipp. Dylan Hicks. All great songs and bands.
      Some of the skits and crank calls did not age too well. The best crank calls though are From The Chucker. Calling celebrities and making comments that confuse them with other celebrities.

    “To understand the future
    A person must understand the past.”
    Art was created for a reason.
    A creative,
    A world of itself,
    to understand,
    The artist like Shanon for example carried a burden so no one else to.
    Not saying other folks have the same issue however with every art there needs a spokesperson,
    (Especially those that can not fight back)
    Those that use art in a violence to hurt others
    Have no clue about art,
    Or
    if so,
    it’s in the art itself
    The person that creates art
    And dies in tragedy ways,
    Was clearly was never to make a mess,
    However to take away the sins
    or
    the hurt the folks carry.
    So folks can live a better life.
    Or at least find a better way.
    Any artist I know of
    or
    I should say anyone knows of that created art within that moment of work,
    Were trying to find an answer
    or
    a calling to make it out of a place,
    Maybe a darkest moment
    or
    a world that was so unclear of.
    Or
    Understanding the Bad side effects, Sometimes the good side effects of things.
    However every artist knows one thing,
    Must try to find a way.
    In most cases,
    not to live in a mess of lost causes.

      Thats how I feel about this song and "Paper Scratcher"...listen to paper scratcher on the Metor Sessions and will blow your mind how absolutely fantastic it is sung/played the way is was meant to be played. I wont listen to the album version. It pales in comparison.

    @BPhire You can say drugs inspired this

  • @Disc1
    @Disc1 10 років тому +13

    Nah, if Shannon didn't do drugs he'd be just as good as a singer. Maybe his lyrics wouldn't be about drugs, but I don't think that's a bad thing. A musician is a musician, and whether you do drugs or not, there are always sad and happy moments in your life, and you'll get musically inspired by them, that has nothing to do with drugs.

    • @WesleyThibodeau

      Well put! So many clean musicians out there that did beautiful stuff.

    • @jsleazy5838
      @jsleazy5838 7 років тому +4

      Disc he'd still have the voice but perhaps not the same passion. Unfortunately I think drugs influenced him. I know I made way better music once drugs were thrown in the mix, it just makes you look at life differently than you're accustomed too. Plus addiction is the topic of most Blind Melon songs, and that's why I like them so much. So much raw emotion. If he didn't struggle as a human being, he may not have made he same heartfelt music.
      Obviously good be wrong and I see your point, it's sad to see such a talented man leave this Earth, but either way let's enjoy the beautiful music this man and the rest of Blind Melon gave us.
      Peace and love brother

    • @Disc1
      @Disc1 3 роки тому

      @Mariana D'Amelio Cool! I was kinda naive though, honestly, if you can't manage drugs or acohol in life in a sensible way, you're better off without them! Yes I see the irony ;)

    • @Sharontate666
      @Sharontate666 2 роки тому +1

      @@Disc1 an addict is no different than a non addict experimenting for the first time. Who are you to say what handling drugs and alcohol properly looks like.
      Addiction is not a moral failing nor lack of control.
      You're not judge or jury (thankfully) but if you're gonna preach from your high horse it might be wise to get an accurate grasp on what addiction truly is. Be thankful you don't need to self medicate or put a bandaid on something that's so painful.
      I can't stand by your ignorance nor would I want to.
