The larger of the two looks fine. The little one makes me a little nervous. Hopefully the spring shows immediate growth on both. We are pulling for you!

I’m very happy with how the big one came out after the cold blast! the little one, i agree, is worrying me more and more everyday 😅 time will tell!

The big one looks really good. Should be in fine shape going into the growing season. I have a couple small ones like your smallest one and mine look about the same. I'm all for weeding out the weak ones and seeking the hardiest of the bunch. Time will tell, keep us updated.

I’m not worried about the big one at all, thankfully! It’s been holding up strong even 2-3 weeks out from the cold blast. The little one is a different story 🤣 i’m hoping it pulls through.
      Thanks for watching!

I'm happy they made it, but sometimes it takes a while to notice deep damage. Mine look awful. My garden is in a cold spot on top of a hill in the middle of the woods in Washington state. We got down to at least 9 or 10. I didn't bother to protect it like I did with the more exotics.

i’m hoping the extent of the damage is what it is now and doesn’t expand into spring! but a few weeks out from the cold event and it looks about the same as it did then. I’m in the same boat as you, rural hill in the middle of the countryside but i believe the south placement right next to the house is what spared the palm.
      Hope yours pull through!

Nice! Glad they are doing well. If i could offer a little advice. The little one might be in trouble, both it and the big one I'd preventatively treat with copper fungicide when temps get in 65F range. For the little one you should treat with hydrogen peroxide first.

thank you! i will definitely make sure i do that! anything to make sure they get through their first winter.
Should i wait until it’s 65F for the average or as soon as we see some days above 65F?
i’ve got 3 days around the mid 60s and lows around 50 this upcoming week

@@CentralVirginiaJungle No problem at all I've been there with spear pull on small palms myself. Looking at your weather with the rain coming I'd go ahead and squirt about a fourth of a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the spear on the small one before the rain and in a week or right after the rain either treat again with hydrogen peroxide or treat with copper fungicide both of them. The small one is 50/50 the bigger one should be ok even if it spear pulls. ua-cam.com/video/3EwU4F-Gotw/v-deo.html
