Unreal! Also, I wish people would turn their phones sideways when recording videos.
Why would people leave their cars there after all the storm surge warnings!!! That’s exactly why in part auto insurance is so high
Sometimes people don't take the warnings seriously..
It is possible a family had several cars an evacuated in one of them. Some of the cars likely belong to people who did a vertical evacuation meaning they live in a multi-story house I figured they would spend the hurricane on a floor higher than the expected storm surge. That was the last storm surge collapses the house.
I personally think that people who leave their cars in the situation like this when there was a reasonable opportunity to get them out of danger shouldn't be paid. However most late model cars have loans and the insurance company owns a lender no matter what the owner does.
.
For example if a car is worth $30,000 the loan on it is 25,000 and the is proven to have intentionally burned the car to the ground the insurance company still owes the lender 25,000
Insurance $$$$
Well this is how you stupid Americans handle things…
Did anyone happen to notice that the red Mustang convertible stuck in the sand belongs to the realtor who took this video? It has her picture on the side of the car. So instead of evacuating, which was supposed to be mandatory, she stayed there and recorded her car being ruined? Shwcould have just parked it on a nearby bridge as many other people did, and ridden a bicycle or something back to her place. I live in this area. I sorta don't get this. 😮
Yes you're right.. hindsight is 20/20! Our area on Pass-a-Grille never floods but this time it did..
So is the mustang totaled? Or will it still run?
The engine is still starting and it will run with some repairs but we will be replacing it.
