Steinhatchee looks like a war zone. It’s just unimaginable the amount of devastation.. I’m in Dixie County and Horseshoe beach is also devastated. I have lived here all my life but I visit Clearwater regularly and this is sad to see. Here there are so many that lost everything they own and have worked to have. Praying for everyone effected by #Helene
The whole west coast of Florida is in trouble now. Doesn’t make sense to downplay someone else’s situation just because it worse somewhere else. Here in the Clearwater area and people lost homes just like people all over Florida. Saying it’s worse somewhere else really doesn’t help anyone
These areas I doubt they will ever recover from this. This is hundreds of billions of dollars in damages. And our government is flat broke. And many of these businesses will close up shop and lay off all of there workers. Pocket the insurance money and run.
I grew up in Largo, just off of Starkey Road. This is just heart breaking seeing all this. I live in Madison county now and it's just awful here. My prayers go to all who went through this and survived.
That's my houseboat in the start of the video... Please pray that I can get it back in the water this was my first boat I ever bought just recently... 😓
I agree. It s heartbreaking to see houses and lies lost but I use to see the same thing when I lived up north on Long Island when a Nor' Easter would come through. Humans need to be in harmony with the planet, but they aren't. Nature will continue to do what it 's been doing since the beginning of time.
Yes it will. And there will be a much more dramatic impact when a direct hit finally happens. If a storm ever comes due north straight up into the bay then not just all of Clearwater will disappear but so too will all of Tampa. All of these coastal towns are so vulnerable but humans will never give up fun for practicality sadly enough.
Im 72 yrs young & I've lived in FL my entire life! Never have I seen such devastation & destruction! Prayers for those here in FL & others who were victims of this storm!
They can’t use that sand again it’s full of debris it’s been mixed with gas from the cars the sewage is mixed in the sand and everything it has to go through a whole process before even being put back onto the beach

When I moved to Fl in 87 Clearwater Bch was where it was at. Fri and Sat nights in the parking lot was damn cool. Used to post up, throw in some Magic Mike and the boom booms was like a mating call for the honeys. Now its family friendly and a tourist trap.....lol. Sad 😭
Just like mandatory car and care lapsing insurance.Natural events like this will make house insurance mandatory and expensive even without flood insurance.
Clearwater is a City built on the ocean floor, that is not dry land it is part of the ocean. If you're going to build a city in the ocean, you may want to put the roads and buildings on pylons above the high watermark.
So is the entire state....but you meant Clearwater Beach. Not Clearwater. Clearwater is not in this video. Clearwater Beach is pictured. ED: the entire state south of Ocala
I've been to Clearwater Florida. It was a beautiful place. I doubt that they will ever recover to be honest. New Orleans never recovered from hurricane Katrina. And that hurricane hit them in 2005.
This is so commercialized now so different everytime I go less and less ctual beach. Mother Nature is reminding us who what belongs to. And she’s done sharing.
If they used the word ‘sunami’ instead of ‘storm surge’ perhaps people would better understand what happens. Such as “a 20 foot sunami expected when the storm makes landfall.
I vacationed in the eighties on Indian rocks beach it was all single story beach cottages back then noone built mullity million dollar houses on the gulf its allot cheaper to rebuild a beach camp
I was at pier 60 4 days before this visiting family Arg. I literally walked in from the parking lot at the 4:45 mark taking sunset pics and going out on the pier. Arg again. the parking lot was packed with cars. Luckily they live on the east coast straight over and I left 2 days before the hurricane with a connecting flight out of Altanta. Dang too close. I guess those sand piles obviously are getting it off the streets. Do they dump it back on the beach. Hope all is going well over there considering. Good luck peace and love...
I guess building on barrier islands isn’t such a good idea after all. If you want waterfront views you’re going to have water coming in the front from time to time.
That's why codes have changed, and if you are going to build new out there, you have to build^^^^^^. The building on the barrier islands won't ever stop. There is too much greed involved.
The sand is contaminated with oil, sewage glass,& all kind of stuff. I live on coast1 mile inland..That was a beautiful beach/ now a war zone..It with take yrs or so to bring it back, like up , down coast..😢
I agree, it is bad but nothing like other places where the buildings are gone. Cedar key, Crystal river along the water and I think the Carolina’s have got the worst of the worst. It’s sad.
That’s a lot of sand…in the wrong place…well like the big snowstorms up north , use those end loaders to clean up big bunches of it, pike it up, the city can decide what to do with it….sweep up the rest with brooms etc…maybe they should think about taking some of it on a big barge and dumping it back in the ocean?? Don’t know. The buildings there look pretty much intact. How are the people doing in the areas where buildings were destroyed?
I dont feel bad for people who build on "BARRIER ISLANDS" . These islands are just large sand dunes. If a building is built in Alaska it is made to withstand the elements. What did they think would happen building on, i repeat, a "BARRIER ISLAND"

Our family left Florida two years ago...so glad we weren't there for this. So glad that God kept our family and friends (who are in Tampa) safe.
This is Bad but, it's 1/100th of what happened in Cedar Key, Keaton Bch, Steinhatchee the list goes on.... P.S. Thanks for the ❤Great❤ video!

There should be some rethinking about how and where to rebuild. This will happen again.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the sand back on the beach than haul it off? In your video I saw a lot of low and washed out spots.

Have to clean it first
Pretty obvious that the guy on the CAT loader is working by the hour starting at 11:51.

Did the Baycare Sound amphitheater get any damage?
But this is not over its the beginning!!!!! Nature is the Power in the Universe Shes not pleased with what's been going on!!!

Exactly, a barrier island is actually part of the ocean, hence, your building on the ocean floor

Sure looks tacky. Like a cheap carnival on the beach.
It's where we tell all the obnoxious New Yorkers to go. They love it!
Part of a long mega project from foreign developers, religious nuts, and tacky new money to destroy one of the nicest beaches in the world.
