Very nice video as always. Those buses were so popular way back in the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.

Thanks Andrew, I wish we still had buses like them. I was always a big fan of Ribble buses so was really pleased to finally be able ride the Burlingham ribble PD3 again

The Merseyside PTE late model Atlantean 1003 looks superb and it’s got the later side and tail light clusters the peaks at each end on the upper deck add a touch of uniqueness as in 83 bus design was becoming similar to a lot of body builders ,Kirby looks a nice tidy town nice to see a London BL we had them on the 290 Hammersmith to Richmond
    All the best
    Mark 👍🏻👍🏻

Great stuff. I loved the way you balanced the exposure which replicated perfectly the yellow ambience of the period; charming bit of the upper salon on the PD3 with the exposure just perfectly capturing the interior lights and the rest of the details. You've a great narrators voice, like Michael Angelis but more authentic Liverpool, and you have a lot of knowledge about this, well so more about this stuff than the rest of us, so it would be good to hear more. You have one of those mellifluous voices and you get the pace and phrasing dead right, so it's real relaxing. Fits the ambience of the upper salon of a PD3 at twilight. The sound of all those engines idling was neat. Cheers MW appreciated.

Many thanks for the kind comments. I did do a few videos using voice over software as at the time I was only using my smartphone. But I now have a decent microphone so can get a better result. Also people seem to prefer my voiceover rather than a computer generated one. Getting the colour right was a challenge as the camera is largely automatic. I have only today taken delivery of a new camera, that can be operated manually. Once I've learned how to use it that is.

I remember travelling on Lodekkers, with a sunken gangway and bench seats upstairs. Railway bridges were everywhere back then.

Better design than Leyland's sunken off side gangway.

The Bristol Lodekka didn't have a sunken gangway but you did have to mind your head when getting up from certain seats!
The USP of the Lodekka, Dennis Loline, AEC Bridgemaster was the ability for a low height decker to dispense with the bench seating as used on "low bridge" double decks.

Isnt it a bit of a risk running precious preserved buses after dark? Too easy a target for the brick brigade I fear!

    • @Merseywail

There's never been any issues before. The route does avoid known trouble areas

@@Merseywail I'm glad that is the case and long may that be so but if I owned a preserved bus it would be daytime only!
