There are too many to list ! , some honourable mentions could include: Simon Dupree - Kites , Tomorrow - My white bicycle , Yardbirds - Shape of things , Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger - Season of the witch & This wheels on fire , Traffic - Hole in my shoe & Paper sun , Pretty things - Defective grey , The Who - I can see for miles , Kaleidoscope - Flight from Ashiya. Other tracks from artists already listed: Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne (& many more) , Rolling Stones - Dandelion , Donovan - Sunshine superman & Mellow yellow (as mentioned) , Moody Blues - Ride my seesaw , The Beatles - A day in the life & I am the walrus.
Glass Onion and I am the Walrus
That was wonderful! I'd add Jimi's Purple Haze and The Doors' Light My Fire, and some of Aiden's list.
@@AlmostEthical I would have also added Arnold Layne or Set The Controls for The Heart of The Sun by Pink Floyd.
@@Ernesto87 Set the Controls for sure. Amazing vibe. In Australia, we had Russell Morris's #1 hit, The Real Thing, produced by Molly Meldrum.
True Story: I grew up in a very small town in Iowa, USA in the early 1990s (pre-internet) A group of friends and I heard "Fire" by The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown at a County Fair and we immediately loved it! Over the course of several hours at the fair, the song played three times (all songs were likely on a cassette tape which was switched over at the end of play) but nobody working the event knew anything about the song other than the name was "Fire" I have NEVER HEARD the song since, and had completely forgotten about it.
Fast forward to LITERALLY NOW and not only have I received the answer to my 35 year old question, but I now have 4 phone calls to make! Thank You WMUK!
Fire was a UK number 1 in the summer of 1968, replacing Mony Mony by Tommy James and the Shondells. Although not British, and therefore not eligible for this list, their song Crimson and Clover was a great example of US psych.
Nothing will ever top Strawberry Fields Forever.
undefeated!
Masterpiece by The Beatles
I can thank my dearly departed mother for introducing me to all of these timeless songs. She would always sing "Nights in White Satin" to me, as a Lullaby.
What a great mum!!!
@@FatNorthernBigotYes, she was the best. I inherited my taste in music from her. 🎶😍
that's beautiful, thanks for sharing
You forgot the third psych track the Beatles released in 1967, I Am The Walrus.
Nah, how the hell has Cream’s White Room not gotten into this list?! Null and void!
Early metal 😂
I think strange brew would’ve been a better entry for cream
When you realize that these are some of the greatest songs ever made. Love the shoutout to The Zombies!
Pictures of Matchstick Men by Status Quo should have made the list.
I think this should have been a top 20 list to add such songs as The Creations' :How Does It Feel" and Traffics "Hole In My Shoe".
Neil's version is way better, man.
I think this is my favorite WatchMojoUK video! Thaks! 😊
I wasn’t born in the 60’s. Was born in 75 but my dad was always listening to music and it influenced me and my music choices and listening. So he was listening to strawberry fields when he was a teen and then I listened to the Candy flip version in the 90’s. I was wearing flares for a bit, as he was in the 60’s. These are all great tracks and goes to show, what goes around, comes back around. Now at nearly 50, I’m seeing it happen again. Life is a cycle and it’s amazing. Much love everyone 👍🏻❤️
Tales of Brave Ulysses - Cream
Justin Hayward - not Jason!
Rolling Stones always tried to follow what The Beatles were doing.
Excellent list. Hard to to beat Strawberry Fields forever ☮️🙏🏼🌈
This is a fun video. I’d love to see a follow-up on American psychedelic running concurrently.
Nights in white satin and wider shade of pale are too soft to be psychedelic
I would put "Ride my See Saw" by the same group instead of nights in white satin.
I would put "Evil Hearted You" by the Yardbyrds instead of whiter shade of pale because of Jeff Beck guitar licks
I would put Papaer Sun by Traffic and Pictures of Matchstick man by Staus Quo.
I am glad that the moody blues are in the top ten with nights in white satin, and the other 8 groups have been put in the top ten, brilliant
Absolutely superb; thank you. From The University of Crete.
There are many songs I believe should be on the list in place of Whiter Shade of Pale, Nights in White Satin, and Fire. Beatles songs like Love You to and Tomorrow Never Knows, or if they are bit too 'out there' there are handfuls of other songs by the likes of Pink Floyd and Cream which I reckon represent Psychedelia much better.
I thought “Tales of Brave Ulysses “ by Cream would have been up there.
One of the Greatest records ever made ❤❤
My Friend Jack - The Smoke
Pictures Of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
Crimson and Clover - Tommy James & The Shondells
Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix Experience
The last two aren't British bands though. Great tracks, I absolutely agree, but this list is about British psychedelia.
🧥✌🏻☮️ Far Out, Man!!
So Groovy.
Strawberry fields was a childrens home.
Lemme guess… Itchycoo Park, She’s Not There… and 8 Beatles songs.
Cream (Sunshine of Your Love etc.) should have been on this list instead of the non-psychedelic Time of the Season.
The Rolling Stones were never as interesting again without Brian Jones.
Totally true, Brian was the creative soul of the band. And there's something very fishy about his death, I guess we'll never know the truth.
@@stealthbastard8837 Yep. Very sketchy.
I can never decide if WatchMojo videos are narrated by a good AI or a not very good human who has never seen the video. The pronunciation is, as a five second listen to the clip shows, are-men-EE-ya not are-MEAN-ee-a.
No Rainy Day Sun from England's own Spinal Tap? 😉
Tomorrow Never Knows. Itchicoo Park. Purple Haze......
Ooh behave baby.
You mean British “Acid Rock?”
Jason Hayward?
got any Hawkwind?
@highspeedhawk they came out when the Psychedelic era was turning in to the Progressive Rock era
What an appalling list. No Tomorrow - My White Bicycle, Small Faces - Itchykoo Park or Keith West - Excerpt From A Teenage Opera? Must try harder or get somebody who knows what they're talking about.
