The lyrics of this song are divine, as is Stevie Wonder's singing. Still though, another thing I love about this song is the instrumental arrangement and performance. It is nice to be able to hear the music both ways - with the Stevie Wonder vocals and without them. What a talented artist, what a hauntingly beautiful love song this is.

Kristen P, I was blessed growing up. I was 5 in 1969 when this song came out. It was being played every day on AM radio in New York. I remember it like it was yesterday.... I loved it back when I first heard it, and I love it to this very day. Stevie is a musical genius, even to this very day. 🙂👍🏻
Dry season during 1969. My duty station at Chu Lai. A rare day off and free to hang out in a nearby town, watching the mesmerizing Vietnamese maidens wearing colorful traditional dress featuring split sides stirred by the breeze and white, almost sheer pants. The lovely girls shielded their pretty faces with white sun umbrellas. A break from the constant flying on Huey Slicks over rice paddies and into endless jungles drapped on low hills and tall mountains.
He wrote this as a teenager for his girlfriend. It shows a mastery of harmonics and composition that qualifies him not only as a prodigy but as a genius. Love love love you mr wonderful!
Paterson NJ, still have my 45 yellow record. I wish you youngsters could have been there. Technology allows us to share music we grew up on.. Thank GOD for memories. Grateful always. Thx.
Jesus, this is maybe the most beautiful song of all time. I'm not gonna lie, it brings tears to my eyes. It makes me think of EVERY girl I have ever loved
International my friend. I have a blind friend and I swear he sounds so close to Stevie and we bond over Stevie amongst other artistes but Stevie is our shared favourite 🙂
In the early 90s I was doing my Master's Degree at Wayne State University and lived in an apartment, that was a converted hotel... I think on Cass Ave. On a bright cold Spring morning I went for a long walk and stumbled upon "Hitsville USA". I think my jaw dropped and I realized this was the place where it ALL began. I grew up in London, Ontario, Canada a mere two hours from Detroit, and it was common to have the AM radio blasting at the community pool all summer long...usually Detroit stations. Every July and August from 1969 to 1976 I heard this wonderful music and with great affection I recall so many of these now classic Motown/Funk Brothers hit songs. After fifty years the magic is still there...and always will be.
Yes - CKLW all day long during tobacco harvest in Tillsonburg from 1968 to late 70's. We were so lucky to have this great music as the sound track of our youth.
I was 5 years old when this song first came out in 1969. I can't believe thatcwas 55 years ago. This song is one of my favorite song from Stevie Wonder.
Dedicated to Michael - my high school sweetheart in the summer of 1969. He passed away in the 80’s and I will always cherish this song as it reminds me of our happy times together, Love you Mike….❤️
I remember this song, when i was five years of age...cusin, drinkin, and gambling...I did it all, now i just praise God, but they keep pulling me to the other side.
Ahh, the Summer of 1969 in Los Angeles California. I was 10. Great year, great Summer, great city, great state, great people, great country, great time to be alive! So different then as to now. Never to return. Glad I lived it. 2022? Nah, no good.
@@abefromen Yep, Charles Manson Murders. Remember that well. Saw it live on TV. No decade was perfect. Something bad always has happened in USA. The pain will get worse. Would hate to be a kid now.
I played this song a lot on my reel-to-reel tape recorder. A Dokorder dubbing recorder with two pairs of reels. After flying most of the day, sometimes I got back to my hootch early and relaxed on my Army cot to enjoy my collection of copied music. My Cheri Amour was a favorite. Families on the West Coast copied songs playing on FM channels and mailed the reels to their sons serving in Vietnam. They shared the music with friends living nearby in the enlisted men hootches on the hills above the beaches at Chu Lai helicopter air base during 1969.
La la la la la...! What memories, Pretty Lil' one that I adore..! This was my song back in '69 Papacat you are and will always be My Cherie Amour....Maybe someday you'll see my face among the crowd....Who loves ya my dearest friend..!! ❤️♫ Incredible remix..! Thank you for bringing this wonderful song to me first thing this morning, made my day! You are a m as dyer at what you do! Really love this remix. The music in this song is extremely underrated and I love how you extended it to let us enjoy the music just a little more. Cheers!
Absolute ear candy, again you refreshed a classic with pure respect to the original recording and blossom into something more beautiful. Again you have transformed my thoughts back to my childhood when the song was played regularly on am radio. Thank you for your gift.
DJDiscoCat, your words could not have rang truer. Thank you for them, and thank you very much for doing your thing on My Cherie Amour, it is one of my favourite Stevie songs, and I am very happy to hear your re-edit! Thank you, again!
Lovely song my Dads song he sang in the house and in clubs in the days he sang at working mens clubs abd Robin Hood mosside and lake Hotel Belvue, he had a great voice always singing ..❤🙏😥
Discocat; It was nice to read your liner notes. Music heals and makes the whole world kin. I feel it's the only form of art that (through the vibration-resonance) can bring you instantly back to the moment you heard it for the first time, or better, what it did to you the moment you heard it for the first time. Great stuff, this thing called music. The notes do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do resonate with the 7 Chakras inside the body as well as the seven days of the week and the seven colors of the rainbow, hence the quality of healing. Anyway, thanks for the great Stevie Wonder in optima forma and in a very very respectable length. Take care brother and have a great musical spring and summer; can't wait for a funky long ''Sir Duke''; Sing, sing, sing!
Someday, what a lovely, love song.. Lucky girl...

Stevie Wonder is an absolute marvel. My father worked with him on Fingertips Part 1 and 2. He's the baritone sax. I'm very jealous
I was born in the 70s but this song was played on the radio quite a bit while I was a child. I loved hearing back then as I do now!
