In this video, Dr Matt shows how to categorise the causes of restrictive pulmonary disease and how a restrictive lung disease would appear on spirometry.
Some conditions causing restrictive lung disease are:👇 Interstitial lung disease, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease. Obesity, including obesity hypoventilation syndrome. Scoliosis. Neuromuscular disease, such as muscular dystrophy or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
I've been diagnosed 18 months ago. On home O2. I am hypercapnic, can't expell CO2 effectively. I'm supposed to use a bipap on AVAPS( I have trouble with nose, mask or even pillows staing in place). I'm hypoxic. There's one more, but I forget. I have FIBROMYALGIA, HTN, HLD, CFZ. 3. Injured disc's in back( trauma), feet injured with a fall and S1 and Coccyx injured. Anxiety, PTSD, other things. [ second hand smoke is thought to have done something. Ohhh, have PH.
What would be your impression of a 27 year old construction worker who comes to your clinic with complaints of Nadal obstruction, Breathing problems, runny nose every now and then, persistent cough, chest pain headache and a feeling of pressure build up around the nose and eyes. Spirometry tests show tidal volume of 320ml, residual volume of 1 litre, expiratory reserve volume of 2 litres, inspiratory reserve volume of 1 litre.
your accents make learning this info soo much more exciting : )
Wow superb ,i never knew i would ever understand this topic....thanks to you
