Finally a great review with a person who do not complain so much of some vibrations at certain rpm.
Indeed. Also, people that complain about wind blast on a naked bike.... Don't get me started :)
It's fine to mention it, but what else do the people who complain expect? I don't see the point really. It's a bike.
*Beautiful Bike.*
I have just bought one with the akrapovic aftermarket exhaust as my very first motorcycle ever and i could not ne any happier! :)
It really is a lovely ride and i can highly recommend it to any beginners who want to start with a kinda sporty and good looking bike!
Nice Video though, keep up the good work, ps you've earned another Sub!
Greatings from Germany :)
Owning a '15 390, I just came here to see what others think of the bike....It's been a great bike for me comfortable, powerful and light apart from a few quality issues. Kudos
im 6ft 2in and the duke 390/200 fits perfectly, but rc200/390 not so much, you back ache and your knee starts to hurt a lot.none the less its still a killer ride!!
Awesome pick
Great review as always.
Keep at it..
👍👍👍👍👍👀
for me a great bike, powerful, fast and funny.light and easy driving.....
A pity more young teens are spending their money (and wasting their lives) on video game addiction instead of the fine and exciting real-world-in-the-outdoors motorcycles available today for a relative pittance. I would have killed for a bike like this when I was 18!
gwwayner Seriously!! You would end up in Jail bro. I think Gamer are better atleast they kill in virtual world.
EmptyMind Just a saying! Yeah, my younger brother has been a video game junkie for the past 25 years and he is chronically unemployed and living on welfare. Young guys these days are in pathetic physical condition because of so much screen time and will be having heart attacks when they reach middle age. Most have lost their connection to the great outdoors and nature, and that is rather sad.
Hey bro I'm 16 and when I'm bored I get my ricer XR70 with no muffler and ride around the block just for fun! I stopped because I saw a cop and I gunned it and made it back into my garage lol
When I can drive I want one of these! Then I'll upgrade to a R1 with the cross plane crank engine
I'm a big fan of games but compared to bikes, it's a pretty cheap hobby. I'd give all of it up (except for the racing games) if it meant I could finally afford a bike
Any chance of seeing this bike compared to its competitors?
Hey Guys, really enjoyed this video review. Just wondering....who would you recommend this bike too ? New riders ? beginners ?? Thanks
I am looking at this for a new bike, I cant find much info for weight limits. I am 5'10 and 230 lbs... Will I fit this comfortably? I am down between this one ant the Yamaha FZ-07. Leaning way towards the Duke from terms of $$$ and this being my first bike.
Nice video! The best bike ever! :P
The seat is very comfortable!!! Does KTM paid for your trip to Thailand to ride the 390?
American ones are coming with pirellis? Indian dukes come with metzelers. Pirellis are not as sticky as the metzelers.
Nice bike
Im thinking of some ktm 390 or a ninja300/r3
Can someone help me understand what "brakes by brembo--not brembo brakes" means?
I think they're designed by Brembo but assembled by some company in India to keep costs down?
These bikes were designed for the Indian market.
***** Not exactly an Indian company. Tested and engineered in Italy then mass production happens in the Brembo Brakes factory in Pune, India..!
Thanks!
thebigwarthog no, bybre is a division of brembo that has been designed only for performance bikes that are under 600-500cc. Nothing else
It's not for performance bikes. Bybre is specifically for budget bikes in the Indian market, not that they are bad brakes but you won't find these in super sports.
great bike
not sure if i should go for this or the 690 for my first bike, i'd be worried that I would get bored of this quite quickly.
+Jamie Carter Get the 690 Duke. It's a great bike but also almost double the price of this one. The 690 Duke used depreciates a lot because no one really wants it. The Duke 390 will retain its value and barely depreciate even with 5000 miles if you get bored of it. Personally I would get the Duke 690 b/c it has better components especially safety. My first bike was a Ninja 650R with no rider aides and I survived but it was a learning curve. Ride smart and have fun.
It's not 'By Brembo' ...it's Bybre ...Brembos cheap subsidiary...for budget oriented bikes. In India 390 comes with super sticky Metzeller M5 sportech. Nice review by the way.
it does mean by brembo according to brembo and I reckon they would know!
the Ktm 390 duke was bulild (also the 125 duke) vor the Spezial european Motorcycle Driving liceses. in Germany (wehre i live) is the Ktm 125 duke vor the A1 Driving License (Max. 125ccm & max 15 ps) and the 390 duke vor the A2 (max. 49ps/max 0.2kw/kg)
how is the gas tank? some people say it's small - is this true??
***** I guess what matters more is how is the gas mileage?? How much on average can u get on a tank compared to something of a similar displacement or 250/300 cc engine from honda/kawi
***** thanks! mmm doesn't seem sooo bad...I wonder how much other bikes of similar displacement get....I'll have to look it up
how to much ?
But WHEN will the Duke and RC 390 hit the States?! KTM seem to be taking their sweet time.
Brett Edson I've checked out a few dealerships here locally in Tampa Bay and all the RC390s have been sold and/or have deposits on them. I have seen one Duke390. They are here, just getting snatched up quick! I love the design of the RC but I fear I may want more power from a new bike. I like the GSX-S1000 that is new for the US market.
Just checked in with my local dealer in the San Francisco Bay Area. The dealer has at least a 6 month back log of down payments for both the duke and the RC390. So much so that he doesn't even have a demo bike to try out. Guess I will have to wait until the market cools down a bit before I can try one out.
Yeah totally. It sucks haha
Brett Edson Though RC 390 is better tuned a lil still Duke 390 is much better than RC 390.
EmptyMind What makes the Duke better? Essentially just a naked version of the RC.
What's it like on the highway? Can you cruise around 75-85 mph for longer periods of time? What about fuel efficiency?
I like everything about the 390 and it seems like a good option for me as my first bike, however I will commute to my university which lies around 70-80km's away form home and it's all highway-riding. Fuel efficiency and highway-riding therefor has to be a priority. I'm aware of it not being as good as other bikes out there at that, but it has to be good enough.
When it comes to the price this really seems to be give the most value. But I drive the CB500f at my driving school and I really enjoy the bike a lot. It's so easy to ride and it's great to drive. In an R-version I suspect it would be better on the highway too?
Lots of highway riding? DEFINITELY go for the CB500f. That 500 twin will be much more relaxed at highway speeds than the KTM.
Super Kyle Thank you for the answer! I've already put the thoughts of getting a Duke 390 away
However I'm thinking more about R3, CB500R or a MT-07 in a restricted A2-version
With a wind screen the MT-7 shouldn't b too bad on the highway? It's the bike I want the most now, but I still only ahve experience with the CB500F, so I'll ahve to test the all once I get my license.
I have a 2015 MT-07, (FZ-07 here in the states), I have a vid of it on my channel. I love it, it's a near perfect bike except for lack of wind protection, if I were commuting a lot of highway miles like you I might get the 500r for the faring. The R3 will be a little stressed at highway speeds.
The wind blast on the MT gets annoying once you go over 100 KPH and that's with the small faring I have installed.
hmm ):.
What a bummer.. I wanted it so much ):. won''t a bigger wind screen help? and although it'sas good as the cb500r I was hoing it would be good enough ):.
Yea there are larger screens you can put on the MT.
Damn, really happy with the msrp - I need to throw a leg over this thing when it lands state-side.
Should I get the Duke 390 or Ninja 300 for daily commute? Where I live, both go for the exact same price but the Ninja doesn't have abs.
nutterbird For daily commute Duke 390 is the best option ! Relaxed sitting positions is also best suited for long rides.
Colombia??? I have the same problem. The ninja 300 dont have abs, and the cost almost the same. I am tall so the 390 is not so comfortable as the ninja, but i wont ride without abs, specially in my country.
Yep, Colombia.
I went to see them both and sat on them. I'm 6 ft tall (1.83 m) and felt more comfortable on the Duke 390 than I did on the Ninja so I went with the Duke. ABS is a big plus.
***** Thanks a lot for the transcription, i could understand that part.
nutterbird I would say the N300 has following pros over duke:
1. more comfort, larger seat and better pillion
2. great looks and large bike feel
3. fuel tank is larger, mileage is a bit better
4. Its a inline-2 and has higher refinement & a bit better build quality.
Cons of N300:
1. Less power than Duke (only a bit)
2. Is a bit heavy and not as flickable as duke ( but its still very good, Duke is just outstanding here)
3. lack of abs ( but its a quater litre bike)
I am from India so Duke is more cheaper here in buying and maintaining (costs half of Ninja 300) so I have reason to go for it. If the prices of Duke and Ninja were same here, I would have grabbed the Ninja without a doubt.
How would it be for someone who is 6"3-6"4?
Pavel Ogloblin Dont even think about it then. I personally love this bike .... but for someone as tall as you, definitely shouldn't get this bike. You might FIT yourself but you'll look Goofy and stupid when riding ... just like normal man riding kids bike.
Pavel Ogloblin I'm 6"3 and i own a RC 390... It would be a good option for you if you are looking into ktm's
In Bahrain this costs more than a Hyosung 650, not worth it at all.
I do agree though that it has good enough power, I found myself looking for something with a little less power than my 650, only option was the CBR500R, but that's not available here, with a little mods I believe it would've been perfect, though the fact that these bikes aren't made in their country of origin does put me off a bit.
***** Hyosung sucks big time. It looks good from outside, but its crap from INSIDE. As for KTM Duke 390 .... All those Exported to West side are higher quality than found in indian Market. You are lucky you are getting European Standard Duke.
EmptyMind Seriously! Better quality for the west! ?! How do u know that?
yup....there are two qualities made....one for indian subcontinent..another made with EU standard....if you buy KTM DUKE from Indian subcontinents like India, Malaysia, Indonesia....you cant take it to EU countries, America, or Canada. So European standard bikes engine are well made......with better emission control blah blah blah.
guyz i am thinkin of purchasin that bike..but i am still not 100% sure about it cuz i am 6"4 230lbs..and i think it might not fit me well..what do you guyz think?
hello no...! it would look really funny for your size. Im 5,6 and it looks perfect for my size.
I see..i guess i will look huge on it. thanks for your opinion mate
Mojo JoJo go for rc 390 its good too..
sir you can test ride the 2017 ktm duke 390 it can accommodate more taller rider than before if it is available at your local dealer.
Some one can write what he said between 2:18 and 2:45. Thanks, i couldnt understand maybe he speak so fast haha
mpg?
30 kmpl
why a 390? why cant they make this in like an 800? like in between the 690 and the 1290.
because it is very popular size for asia
Mikhail Brandine ahh yeah that's true!
its a 790 duke comming soon!
why do Americans call petrol or diesel as gas?
gas is short for gasoline aka petrol, diesel is called diesel everywhere.
Omg its white.
